Jarrett Smith
Jarrett Kermit Smith, 23, of Clinton, Ohio, formerly of Canada, Kentucky, passed away May 9, 2004, in Clinton, Ohio.
Born September 30, 1981, in Columbus, Ohio, to Donnie Ray (Vickie Lynn) Smith of Hardy, Kentucky and Marylyn Lynn (Roger Stanley) Smith of Somerset, Kentucky, was disabled.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his grandparents, Thomas Smith, Jr. of Sidney, Kentucky and Opal Marie Smith of Sidney, Kentucky; brothers, Donnie Ray Smith II of Williamson, W. Va., Donovan Clay Smith of Pike County, Kentucky and Zacharch Tompoh Smith of Pike County, Kentucky; sister, Tiffany Maria Smith of Pike County, Kentucky; and step-sisters, Laura Stanley of Columbus, Ohio, Jennia Stanley of Columbus, Ohio and Jamie Stanley of Somerset, Kentucky
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 1, 2004, 11 a.m., at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow at Smith cemetery, Canada, Kentucky Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday night and Monday at Rogers Funeral Home with special services both nights at 7 p.m. with Gary Blackburn officiating.

George Cornette
George W. Cornette, 41, of Tomahawk, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2004, at his residence.
Born May 3, 1962, in Martin County, Kentucky, to Phoeba Perry Cornette of Tomahawk, Kentucky and the late George A. Cornette, he was of the Holiness faith.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Cornette.
Surviving are his wife, Eula Cornette of Tomahawk, Kentucky; daughters, Natalie Nicole Cornette of Tomahawk, Kentucky and Veronica Ann Cornette of Tomahawk, Kentucky; brothers, Donnie Jimmy, Danny, Lin-sey and Tommy Cornette; and half sister, Carol Sue Ham-mond of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2004, 1 p.m., at Tomahawk Missionary Baptist Church with Jack Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Perry Community cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tomahawk Missionary Baptist Church.

Mabel C. Hammond, 85, of Inez, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at J.J. Jordon Nursing Home, Louisa, Kentucky
Born April 15, 1918, in Martin Co., Kentucky, to the late James Oliver (JD) Copley and Lilly Francis Copley, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Hammond was of the United Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mont Jack Hammond and one son, Neddie Lee Hammond..
Surviving are her sons, Joe Hammond of Inez, Kentucky, Jack Hammond of Inez, Kentucky, Clyde Hammond of Inez, Kentucky, Billy Ray Hammond of Paintsville, Kentucky, Ronnie Gene Hammond of Wetumpka, Ala. and Charles Winford Hammond of Tomahawk, Kentucky; daughters, Pauletta Barrett of Clearwater, Fla., Anita Haney of Tomahawk, Kentucky and Minnie Sue Bailey of Louisa, Kentucky; one sister, Yorkie Price of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Oliver Copley of Stuart, Fla and Elmer Copley of Abington, Va.; 30-plus grandchildren; 30-plus great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2004, 1:30 p.m., at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky with John Goble officiating. Burial will follow at the Hammond cemetery, Rt. 3, Inez, Kentucky

Edna Baisden
Edna Baisden, 80, of Inez, Kentucky, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at Three Rivers Medical Center, Louisa, Kentucky
She was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Martin County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Prentice and Rosa Dalton Hinkle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Baisden.
She raised Dennie Ray Hinkle and Dennie Ray Hinkle II.
Edna is survived by two brothers, Bill Hinkle and Paul Hinkle, both of Inez and two sisters, Polly Bloom of Kansas, Ohio and Dolly Evans of Logan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at the Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, with Bob Dalton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. 9 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at the funeral home chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home.

Helen Joyce Williamson, 72, of Forest Hills, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at Appalachian Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility.
Born June 21, 1931, in Mingo County, W. Va., to the late B.H. Jones and Viola L. Taylor Jones, she was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Williamson; and two brothers, T.E. Jones and Don Jones.
Surviving are her daughter, Yedda Rue Williamson of Forest Hills, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Jasmine (Wes) Kennedy of Houston, Texas, Georgia Pullin of Roswell, Ga., Lucas Pullin of Forest Hills, Kentucky, Dana and Dwayne Thornsbury, both of Virginia.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 2004, 2 p.m., at Rogers Funeral Home with Mike Kohari officiating. A private family burial in the Williamson Family cemetery, Forest Hills, Kentucky, will be held.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 6 - 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Fannie Smith
Fannie Smith, 87, of Ransom, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 27, 2004, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Born August 3, 1915, in Ransom, Kentucky, to the late Harrison Hackney and Mary Smith Hackney, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Smith was a member of Samaria Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70-plus years, Freeland Smith; brothers, Ed, Cecil and Johnny Hackney; sisters, Mae Viras and Tilda Hackney; grandson, Stewart Travis Smith; son-in-law, Ed Stuart Smith; and daughter-in-law, Pat Smith.
Surviving are her sons, Lloyd Smith of Marengo, Ill. and Gennis (Mary) Smith of Ransom, Kentucky; daughter, Christine Smith of Ransom, Kentucky; sister, Vicie Hackney of Williamson, W. Va.; three grandchildren, Karen (Bill) Palaskie of Illinois, Steven R. Smith of Illinois and Noveline (Greg) Hatfield of Peterstown, W. Va.; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 1, 2004, 11 a.m., at Samaria Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mike Smith and Elder Raymond Stanley officiating. Interment will follow at Alley cemetery at Ransom, Kentucky Her grandson, Steven R. Smith and other family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Saturday and anytime Sunday at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel with services at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral Monday at the church.
Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, Kentucky has assisted the family with arrangements.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 1, 2004, 11 a.m., at the Justice Funeral Home, Pikeville, Kentucky with Primitive Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow at the Bevins cemetery, Lower Pompey, Kentucky
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Saturday at Justice Funeral Home with services each night at 7 p.m.
John Hensley
John C. "J.C." Hensley, 73, of Ypsilanti, Mich., formerly of Ballfork, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2004.
Born August 8, 1930, in Stone, Kentucky, to the late Andy Hensley and Callie Coleman Hensley, he was a retired from Ford Motor Company in 1981. Mr. Hensley was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church of Ypsilanti on Denton Road.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Danny; and two brothers, Thomas and Emsy Hensley.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Stoots Hensley, whom he married
Sept. 21, 1948; sons, John (Deidra) Hensley of Westland, Mich., James (Kathie) Hensley of Willis, Mich., Thomas (Lynn) Hensley of Ypsilanti, Mich. and Billy Joe Hensley of Ann Arbor, Mich.; special nieces, Betty Trout, Mary New, Anna Smith, Linda Davis, Janet Stratton and Debbie Hensley; special nephews, Michael and James Ball, Johnny and Billy Joe Stratton, Keith, Chris and Matthew Hensley and William Davis; sisters, Carlean (James) Stratton of Harold, Kentucky and Norma (Joe) Roberts of Robinson Creek, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Jessica and Tiffany Hensley, Rachel Vaughn and Jennie and John Henry Hensley; and several great nieces and great nephews and other relatives.

Barbara Ann Williamson Varney, 72, of Pinsonfork, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2004, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Pikeville, Kentucky
Born June 11, 1931, in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Grayson Williamson and Olive Runyon Williamson, she was a homemaker and a member of Sharondale Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Faye Adkins and a brother, Larry Grayson Williamson.
Surviving are her sister, Phyllis Bates of Summersville, S.C.; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 29, 2004, 1 p.m., at Rogers Funeral Home with Bob Werntz officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Kentucky Her family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
