Flora Sellards
Flora Sellards, 97, of Turkey Creek, Kentucky, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the skilled nursing unit of Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Kentucky
Born March 12, 1907, in Woods, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Bee and Virgie Collins.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sellards was preceded in death by her husband, James Buck Sellards; two daughters, Juanita Sellards and Dolly Jean Sellards; two sisters, Myrtle Muncy and Margie Maynard; and two brothers, Roland Collins and Isaac Collins.
She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Troy Sellards of Plains, Ga., and James Robert Sellards of Turkey Creek; five daughters, Ruby Chapman of Turkey Creek; Madeline Spillman of Columbus, Ohio; Geraldine Smith and Bobbie Smith, both of McVeigh, Kentucky, and Carol Coleman of Lebanon, Va.; one brother, Jeff Collins of Warfield, Kentucky; one sister, Garnet Scott of Louisa, Kentucky; 30 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and a host of great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Kentucky, with minister Lewis Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Turkey Creek.
Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Rogers Funeral Home.
Clinton Lowe
Clinton Dale Lowe, 52, of Rogersville, Tenn., formerly of Hatfield, Kentucky, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 21, 1951, in Pike County, Kentucky, a son of Edna Lowe Armstrong of Rogersville, and the late Ireland Lowe.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jessica Dawn Lowe; two brothers, John L. Lowe and Donnie Lowe; and one sister, Alice Lowe.
He was a disabled coal miner and was a member of the Sheppard Chapel Missionary Church in Rogersville.
Additional survivors also include his wife, Patty Lowe; stepfather, Albert Armstrong; two sons, Shawn and Craig Anthony Lowe, both at home; one brother, James Lowe of Rogersville; one sister, Judy (Larry) Crigger of Hardy, Kentucky
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Kentucky, with ministers Dale Williamson, Lacy Walters and Danny Vaughn officiating.
Burial will follow in Ray cemetery at Varney, Kentucky
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Rogers Funeral Home, with special services set for 7 p.m.

Imogene Smith
Imogene Flannery Smith, 76, of Inez, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Salyersville Health Care Facility.
She was born December 11, 1927, in Martin, Kentucky, to the late John Flannery and Bessie Barnett Smith..
In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her husband, Elmer Smith.
Surviving are her sons, Elmer Ray Smith of Atlanta, Ga., Jimmy Smith of Martin, Kentucky, Phillip David Smith of Inez, Kentucky and Rickey Dean Smith of Martin, Kentucky; daughters, Gladys Faye Bargo of Fairborne, Ohio and Barbara Jean Dalton of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and sisters, Elsie Wright of Kirtland, Ohio, Nola Vargo of Chesterland, Ohio and Maggie Malinouski of Chesterland, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2004, 11 a.m., at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky with Rev. Lonnie Preece officiating. Burial will follow at Smith cemetery, Inez, Kentucky

Ollie Peatross
Ollie Mae Smith Pennington Peatross, 86, of Goody, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Appalachian Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, South Williamson, Kentucky
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 11, 2004, 2 p.m., at Mt. View Memory Gardens, Maher, W.Va., with Rev. Ervin Fields officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, June 10, 2004, 6 - 9 p.m., at Weaver Mortuary.
Other arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson.
Selwyn Parsley
1917-2004
Selwyn Parsley, 86, of Blaine, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 18, 2004, at his home. Mr. Parsley was born September 26, 1917 at Marrowbone, W.Va., the son of the late Jesse and Laura Belle Brewer Parsley. He was a retired roofer.
Mr. Parsley was preceded in death by his wife, Garnet Marie Parker Parsley; and two sons, Elmer Parsley and William Selwyn Parsley.
He is survived by a daughter, Helen (Rush) Farley of Delbarton, W.Va.; two sons, Hersel and Delmer Parsley, both of Blaine, Kentucky; three sisters, Ida Belle Turner, Brethel Crigger and Betty Evans; three brothers, Lonnie, Emory and Herbert Parsley; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 20, 2004, at 1 p.m., at the Cains Creek Free Will Baptist Church at Blaine, Kentucky by Rev. Ford McKenzie. Burial will follow in the Boggs and Parker cemetery at Cains Creek.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday at the Cains Creek Free Will Baptist Church.

Billy Joe Adkins
Billy Joe Adkins, 69, of Louisville, Kentucky, died Thursday, June 17, 2004.
A native of McAndrews, Kentucky, he was a retired press operator for Reynolds Metals. He was a former baseball coach for Valley Sports, a former football coach for Pleasure Ridge Park Youth Football and a member of Hillcrest Independent Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Knott Adkins; his children, Craig Adkins and his wife, Donna, Detra McClain and Sabrina Sanders and her husband, Damon; two grandchildren, Mariah McClain and Hayley Jo Sanders; two brothers, Harold and Alvis Adkins; four sisters, Emogene Browning, Racine Daniels, Karoldean Smith and Jackoline Pearson; and his mother-in-law, Pauline Allen.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., Louisville, Kentucky, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens-West.
Visitation will be from 4 - 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 - 9 p.m. Sunday.

Eric Chaney
1978 - 2004
Eric Chaney, 26, of Kimper, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2004, due to injuries sustained in a mining accident.
He was born February 9, 1978, the son of Ricky and Kathy Tackett Chaney of Kimper. Eric was a 1996 graduate of Pike Central High School.
Eric is survived by his parents; a paternal grandmother, Myrtle Chaney of Phyllis, Kentucky; several aunts and uncles; Harvey Jr. Chaney of Phyllis, David "Debbie" Chaney of Pikeville, Jerry "Joyce" Tackett of Columbus, Ohio, Nell Ruth Tackett of Indiana, Randall Tackett, Loretta Compton, both of Zebulon, Kentucky, David "Lorena" Kendrick of Ohio, Sammy "Mary" Flanery of Texas, Randy Belle Lester of Steele, Verlie Childers of Phyllis, Orville "Pat" Blackburn of Phyllis and Joey "Gail" Horn of Pikeville. Eric is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Chester and Jettie Tackett; a paternal grandfather, Harvey Chaney; and two uncles, Timothy Chaney and James "Popeye" Chaney.
Eric will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2004, at Community Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Sunday, June 20, 2004, at 1 p.m.

Imogeana Smith
Imogeana Flannery Smith, 76, of Inez, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Salyersville Health Care Facility.

Albert Abshire Jr.
Albert Thomas Abshire Jr., 60, of Phelps, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 7, 2004, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Born July 18, 1943, in Glen Alum, W.Va., to the late Albert Thomas Abshire, Sr. and Cora Prater Abshire, he was a retired coal miner and he also worked as a carpenter.
Mr. Abshire is preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Eldridge Abshire of Phelps, Kentucky; son, Tommy Abshire of Dandridge, Tenn.; daughter, Tonya Lynn Abshire of Dandridge, Tenn.; sisters, Beatrice Ingersoll of Sharp Chapel, Tenn. and Bonnie Hall of Mozelle, Kentucky; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, 2004, at 1 p.m., at Phelps Funeral Services' Chapel with Revs. Bernard Smith, Bobby Dale Wolford, Doug Maynard and Charles Chuckie Eldridge officiating. Burial will follow at the Annie E. Young cemetery at Pikeville, Kentucky
Serving as pallbearers are Brent Cline, James Blankenship, Shaun Abshire, Clifford Nantz, Tommy Ingersoll, Ryan Abshire, Levi Ingersoll and Charles Chuckie Eldridge.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at 6 p.m. at the chapel with a special service being held Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 7 p.m., at the chapel.

Ollie Maynard Preece, 80, of Inez, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2004. She was born July 22, 1923 and is survived by her husband Cornelius (Pete) Preece Sr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2004, 11 a.m., at Phelps and Son Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky Visitation is being held anytime at the funeral home.

Willie Muncy
Willie Jack Muncy, 71, of Lovely, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 7, 2004, at his residence.
Born July 4, 1932, to the late Harvey and Pearl (Newsome) Muncy, he was retired from Corrugated Box Company and Kermit Coal Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida B. Moore Muncy; and daughter, Shenna Marcum.
Surviving are his wife Juanita Swisher Muncy of Lovely, Kentucky; sons, Dennis (wife Bernice) Swisher of Warfield, Kentucky and Rev. Roy (wife Jan_ Swisher of Bowling Green, Kentucky; daughters, Sandy (husband Rodney) Nichols of Warfield, Kentucky, Ada (husband Jackie) Swisher Harless of Inez, Kentucky and Elsie (husband Sanford) Swisher Alner of Barbourville, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Melissa (husband Isreal) Hammonds of Warfield, Kentucky; two great grandchildren, Cory and Cody Hammonds of Warfield, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. He also leaves a very special cousin, Elias (wife Bonnie) Muncy of Munsfield, Ohio.

Loretta Maynard
Loretta Maynard, 58, of Mullins Fork, Stone, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Williamson Memorial Hospital, Williamson, after a lingering illness.

Ray Dotson
Ray Dotson, 66, of Phelps, Kentucky, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Pikeville Regional Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky
Born July 22, 1937, at Phelps, he was a son of the late Roy and Martha Eldridge Dotson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Dotson and Ed Dotson and one sister, Helen Parcell.
Survivors include: a son, Ray Dotson Jr. of Loraine, Ohio; a brother, Roy Dotson Jr. of Amherst, Ohio and a sister, Hester Redmond of Loraine.
Funeral services are scheduled for noon, Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Barrenshea Church of God with Rev. Bobby Dale Wood officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dotson cemetery at Bones Branch, Phelps.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2004, at the church with services at 7 p.m.
