William D. Ward
William Douglas Ward, 48, of Salem, Ind., formerly of Phelps, Kentucky, passed away Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky
He was born May 31, 1956, at Pikeville, Kentucky, son of the Mary B. Schoolcraft Ward of Phelps, Kentucky, and the late Alvin Ward.
Mr. Ward was also preceded in death by one daughter, Serena Ward; and one sister, Joyce Karol Loving Plymale.
He worked in the heating and cooling industry.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ann Ward of Salem, Ind.; one sister, Wanda Gail Wolford of Logan, W.Va.; one niece, Wanica Renee Lell of Varney, W.Va.; one nephew, Mitchel Evans Lester of Phelps, Kentucky; one great nephew, Christopher Michael Fields of Varney, W.Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Phelps Funeral Services Chapel with ministers Todd Claypool and Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Ward Family cemetery at Phelps, Kentucky
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call after 6 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the funeral home. Services will be held at 7 p.m. each night.

Dennis Dotson
Dennis Dotson, 86, of Ransom, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 18, 2005, at his residence.
Born December 22, 1918, in Ransom, Kentucky, to the late Andy Dotson and Viola "Wolford" Dotson, he was a retired coal miner. He was a member of U.M.W.A. Dennis loved his church and was a member and a Deacon of Samaria Primitive Baptist for over 40 years and was baptized by Elder Teddy Ball on July 19, 1943.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Gilford Dotson; eldest son, Charles "Bojo" Dotson; brothers, Don, Bill Claude, Bud and Marvin Dotson; and grandson, Clinton "Little Butch" McCoy.
Surviving are his wife, Mary "Mag" Hatfield Dotson of Ransom, Kentucky; sons, Berlin (Glenna) Dotson of Ransom, Kentucky, Wendell (Annie) Dotson of Ransom, Kentucky, Eugene (Shirley) Dotson of Ransom, Kentucky and Dwight (Kelli) Dotson of Ransom, Kentucky; daughters, Helen Dotson of Ransom, Kentucky, Gail (Eugene) Gibbs of Ransom, Kentucky, Janet Flo (Larry) Scott of Hardy, Kentucky and Lola McCoy of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughter-in-law Martha (Charles) Dotson of Ransom, Kentucky; sister Ocie Coleman of Ransom, Kentucky; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
He loved his wife for 68 years and was married
April 13, 1936. He was a devoted husband and Loving "Daddy" to all of his children.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 21, 2005, 11 a.m., at Samaria Primitive Baptist Church with Primitive Baptist preachers officiating. Burial will follow at Willie Jake Hager cemetery, Ransom, Kentucky His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday night and Sunday night at the funeral home with special services both nights at 7 p.m.

John Hay, 78, of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 18, 2005, at Pikeville Medical Center.

Marie "Lynch" Castor, 72, of Sycamore Road, Pikeville, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at her residence.
Born May 20, 1932, to the late Austin and Rebecca "Sesco" Lynch, she was a cook.
Surviving are her children, Charles Castor of Lakeland, Fla., Phillip Castor of Kathleen, Fla. and Patricia Castor of Polk City, Fla.; brother, Shirley Lynch of Joes Creek Road, Pikeville, Kentucky; sisters, Edith Muncy of Sycamore Road, Pikeville and Joyce "Lynch" Martin of Sycamore Road, Pikeville; and one grandchild, Amber Castor of Florida.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 18, 2005, 1 p.m., at Community Funeral Home with Bill Maynard, Stallard Lynch and others officiating. Burial will follow at the Lowe & Lynch cemetery, Sycamore Road, Pikeville, Kentucky
Visitation were held after 4 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005.

Mack Farley
Mack Vernon Farley, 75, of Bonifay, Fla., passed away Monday, February 7, 2005, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Farley was born in Pike County, Kentucky on July 26, 1922, living in Holmes County for the past several years.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Farley was a retired electrician and member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2005, at Bethel Baptist church with Rev. Kent Lampp officiating. Burial will follow in Church cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home of Graceville, Fla. directing.
Family will receive friends at the church on Thursday, 10 a.m. until time of service.
The family requests memorials be made to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 1379 Hwy, 173, Graceville, FL 32440.
Mr. Farley was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Pearl Browning Farley.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Farley of Bonifay; son, Vernon David Farley and wife Beverly of Bonifay; and granddaughter, Alixandria Farley.

Carolyn Grace Coleman, infant daughter of Fred Coleman of Johns Creek, Kentucky and Carrie Edmiston Dillon of Sidney, Kentucky, died Thursday, February 17, 2005, at UK Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky She was born Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at UK Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Edwin Coleman.

Hazel L. (Porter) May, 61, of South Williamson, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 7, 2005, at Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Kentucky
Born January 20, 1944, in Mingo County, W.Va., to the late Harvey Porter and Zelphy Caines Porter, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ajax Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. May; daughter, Babette May; grandson, Robert Alan Kitchen Jr.; brother, Walter Porter; half brothers, Roscoe Caines and Waltha Caines; and sister, Violet Williams.
Surviving are her son, Paul (Gail) Porter of Chattaroy, W.Va.; daughters, Debby (Steve) White of Chattaroy, W.Va., Bridgett (Robert) Kitchen of Chapmanville, W.Va., and Lovice Skinner of Illinois; brothers, Carlos Porter of Marrianna, W.Va. and W. Porter of Omar, W.Va.; sister, Dorothy Marcum of Dan's Branch, W.Va.; and grandchildren, Kimberly (May) Kitchen, Mason and Kaitlyn Kitchen, Chuckie and Bekah White, Danielle Porter, Daniel White and Travis Skinner. Sherman Compton
Sherman Hines Compton, 75, of Kimper, Kentucky, formerly of Phelps, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at Pikeville Medical Center at Pikeville, Kentucky
Born April 8, 1929, in Montcalm, W.Va., to the late Theodore "Mack" Compton and Emma Lillian Wilkinson Compton, he was a retired coal miner and mechanic. He was a member of the Majestic Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Jack Wendell Compton who passed away on June 25, 2004; granddaughter, Cynthia Dawn Stiltner; 10 brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are his beloved wife Shirley Thornhill Compton of Kimper, Kentucky, formerly of Phelps, Kentucky; sons, Robert Allen (Linda) Compton and Charlie (Kathy) Compton both of Phelps, Kentucky, Mack (Carol) Compton of Kimper, Kentucky and Shannon (Becky) Compton of Marysville, Ohio; daughters, Delores (Fon) Chapman of Kimper, Kentucky and Jill (Dan) Harmon of Phelps, Kentucky; 18 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. Sherman is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 11, 2005, 1 p.m., at Freeburn Church of God, Freeburn, Kentucky with Church of Christ ministers Tennis Daniels, Jim Abshire, Keith Hall and Dean Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Daugherty cemetery at Beech Creek of Jamboree, Kentucky

Ronnie Blankenship
Ronnie K. Blankenship, 63, of Freeburn, Kentucky, died Saturday, February 26, 2005, in the South Williamson Appalachian Regional Healthcare Skilled Nursing Facility.
He was born December 5, 1941, at Freeburn, Kentucky, to the late Clell and Rebecca Raines Blankenship.
He was a retired coal miner having worked for Chisholm Coal Company at Phelps, Kentucky, and was a member and deacon of the Church of God in Jesus' Name at Thacker, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brian Giles Blankenship; brothers, James, Leonard, and Herbert Blankenship; sisters, Virginia Tilley and Maggie Aldridge.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Ann Daniels Blankenship of Freeburn, Kentucky; sons, Ronnie (Cheryl) Blankenship, Danny (Paula) Blankenship, Mac (Angie) Blankenship, Ray (Katrina) Blankenship all of Phelps, Kentucky, and Jerry Blankenship of Freeburn, Kentucky; daughters, Rebecca (Everett) Lester of Phelps, Kentucky, Norma (Rick) Bailey of Bluefield, W.Va.; sisters, Mona Hatfield of Elyria, Ohio, Helen Lowe of Wyandotte, Mich., Agatha Coleman of Antwerp, Ohio.; and a special nephew Terry Vance of Ft. Roy C. Wimbish, 55, formerly of Belfry, Kentucky, died Saturday, January 29, 2005, at OSU Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.
He was a US Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles F. and Evelyn Mae Wimbish.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the O.R. Woodyard Co. Chapel, Columbus, Ohio. Burial followed in the Glen Rest cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
