Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at the Allegheny (Kentucky) Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Bartley cemetery at Bowling Fork, Kentucky

Amalial Jude, 68, of Inez, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 22, 2003.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 25, 2003, 1 p.m., at Sidney Old Regular Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday and continuing all day Wednesday at the funeral home.

Carrie Charles
Carrie Charles, 90, of Raccoon, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 22, 2003, at Pikeville Health Care Center.
Born June 13, 1913, in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late John Charles and Sis Thompson Charles, she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Frozen Creek Old Regular Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rell Charles who died in 1977; two daughters, Christine Morrison and Claudine Collins; one son, Donnie Charles; and one granddaughter.
Surviving are her sons, David Charles of Pikeville, Kentucky, Steve Charles of Grassy Road, Raccoon, Kentucky and Eugene Charles of Wyandott, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 25, 2003, 11 a.m., at Community Funeral Home with Herman West and others officiating.
Burial will follow in the Thompson cemetery, Zebu-lon Highway, Pikeville, Kentucky Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, with a service at 7 p.m. both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Polly Burgett Thomas, 81, of Turkey Creek, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at Appalachian Regional Hospital, Skilled Nursing, South Williamson, Kentucky
Born May 12, 1922, at Emily Creek, Kentucky, to the late Julius Burgett and Mimie Nelson Burgett. She was a homemaker and a member of Turkey Creek Regular Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonza Thomas; a son, Bobby Lee Thomas; three brothers, Watson, Wallace and J.C. Burgett; and two sisters, Dolly Callahan and Bertha Scott.
Surviving are her three sons, Cecil (Bobbie Sue) Thomas of Turkey Creek, Kentucky, Ferrell (Sandy) Thomas of Turkey Creek, Kentucky and Scotty (Nancy) Thomas of Turkey Creek, Kentucky; two daughters, Genola (Albert) Smith of Turkey Creek, Kentucky and Brenda (Harold) Blackburn of Turkey Creek, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Betty Thomas of New Camp, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren, De De Murphy, Susan Ramey, Donna Weed, Sandy Williamson, Jamie Pinson, Cecilia Goff, Julie Marcum, Chris Thomas, Scott Thomas, Jessica Thomas and Melissa Hager; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, 11 a.m., at Rogers Funeral Home with Hobert Hamilton, Richard Staton, Bobby Scott and Willie Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Kentucky Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Funeral Home with special services both nights at 7 p.m.

Anna Mae Clevinger Hackney
Anna Mae Clevinger Hackney, 76, of McAndrews, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at Williamson Memorial Hospital.
Born May 17, 1927, in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late Jack Clevinger Sr. and Georgia Syck Clevinger, she was a cook and homemaker. She was a member of Octavia Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Tommy Blackburn; her second husband, Edgar Hackney; brothers, Charles Clevinger and Jack Clevinger Jr.; half brother, Harry Thompson; and sister Florence Hatfield.
Surviving are her son, Jimmy and Margaret Blackburn of Londonderry, Ohio; daughter, Jenny and Glen Reed of McAndrews, Kentucky; brother, Johnny and Janet Clevinger of McAndrews; sister, Ruby Bowman of McAndrews; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2003, 11 a.m. at Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerria Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at the Hatfield cemetery, McAndrews, Kentucky Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday with special services both nights at 7 p.m.

Christine Pinion, 52, of Kimper, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at University of Kentucky Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky
Born September 5, 1951, in Pike Co., Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Buddy Slone and Ellen Slone.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003, 11 a.m., at Johns Creek First Church of God at Kimper, Kentucky with Rev. William "Bud" Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinion cemetery, Kimper, Kentucky
Visitation will be held starting Thursday at 5 p.m. for family with a nightly service Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m.

Ettie Norman Boyd, 89, of McCarr, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, in the Skilled Nursing Facility at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky

Harrison Blackburn
Harrison Blackburn, 92, of Freeburn, Kentucky, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at the Williamson Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Jan. 2, 1911, in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late Will and Connie Prater Blackburn. He was a retired railroad worker and a World War II veteran. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Katie Gross Blackburn; two brothers, Charlie Prater and Nathan Stacey; and two sisters, Nancy France and Easter Daniels.
He is survived by two sons, Russell Blackburn (Mary Joe) and Elmer "Bobbie" (Mollie) Blackburn, both of Phelps, Kentucky; one daughter, Ernestine (Herbert) Wolford of Lincolnton, N.C.; four grandchildren, Stevie Blackburn, Lisa Lester, Jody Blackburn, each of Phelps, and Michael Gibson of Lincolnton; three step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren, Caleb Lester and Alyssa Kaitlyn Gibson; and eight step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Blackburn will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at the Phelps Funeral Services chapel in Phelps with the Rev. Darius Casey and others officiating. Burial will be in the Freeburn cemetery at Barn Hollow in Freeburn.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home. A special service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Nettie Fite
Nettie Bell Gilbert Fite, 81, of Hardy, Kentucky, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky
She was born in Tazwell, Va., on Nov. 30, 1921, to the late Robert and Callie Brown Gilbert. She was a mother and a homemaker. She attended the Toler Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Woodrow Fite, one son, Roy Woodrow Fite II, one daughter, Donna Jean Fite; one grandson, Gary Robert Kaylor; and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Fite is survived by two sons, Ronald Earl (Tamela) Fite and Dennis Alan (Norine) Fite, both of Hardy; three daughters, Patricia Ramona (Lee) Dye of Rock Hill, S.C., Charlene Elenor (John) Walton of Greer, S.C., and Sandra Kaye (John) Stevens of Hardy; 12 grandchildren, Ronald Richard (Nancy) Haynes, Steven Haynes, Mark (Angela) Haynes, Nicole (Tim) Wicker, Jennifer Brooke Walton, Zeke Jonathan Walton, Jeff (Kelly) Fite, Kelly (Ken) Saal, Christopher Allen Fite, Chad (Shawna) Fite, Jacob Stevens and Airian Kayla Stevens; and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at the Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry, Kentucky, with Okey Varney officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View cemetery at Huddy, Kentucky
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Monday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home with special services beginning at 7 p.m.
Marion Walker
Marion Walker, 90, of Lower Johns Creek, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2003.
Born July 18, 1913, in Pike County, Kentucky, of the late Gordy Walker and Lizzie Blackburn Walker, he was a farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ernes Scott, Otis Walker and Carrol Walker and sisters, Blanch Scott Taylor, Olva W. Stapleton and Elva W. Collins.
Surviving are his wife, Ella L. Walker of Lower Johns Creek, Kentucky; sons, Alden "Mrs. Mary" Walker of Lower Johns Creek, Don "Mrs. Betty" Walker of Hardy, Kentucky, Bernard "Mrs. Blanche" Walker of Lower Johns Creek, Gordon "Mrs. Sharon" Walker of Delaware, Ohio, and Blake "Mrs. Darlene" Walker of Banner, Kentucky; daughters, Emma Ruth "Mrs. Bud" Abbott of Delaware, Ohio and Loretta "Mrs. Gene" Leslie of Lower Johns Creek; sister, Julie W. Burchett of Sycamore, Lower Johns Creek; 10 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and one step great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 26, 2003, 11 a.m., at Community Funeral Home with Tim Swanson and Tim McClanahan officiating. Burial will follow at the Walker Family cemetery at Lower Johns Creek.
Serving as pallbearers are Alden Walker, Don Walker, Bernard Walker, Gordon Walker, Blake Walker, Bobby Walker and David Walker.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Wednesday with services Thursday evening at 7 p.m.

Ettie Norman Boyd
Ettie Norman Boyd, 89, lifelong resident of McCarr, Kentucky, on Sunday, September 14, 2003, was relieved of her pain, sorrow, and suffering and went home to be with the Lord after a lingering illness. She passed away at Skilled Nursing Facility at ARH.
Born December 15, 1913, in Blackberry Creek, Kentucky, she was the last living child of the late Jerry Norman and Lou Williams Norman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Boyd, Sr.; brothers, Tom, Adam, Noah, Oliver, Willie and W.P. (Dock) Norman; sister, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Stevens; and grandsons, Rodney Bruce Boyd and Donald Lee Adair.
She was a homemaker and a beloved member of the Enon United Baptist Church at Blackberry City, W. Va. for many years.
Surviving are her sons, Eugene (Darlene) Boyd of McCarr, Kentucky, Raymond (Betty) Boyd of McCarr, Kentucky, Harold (Carol) Boyd of McCarr, Kentucky, and Ronald (Betty) Boyd of Lewis Center, Ohio; daughter, Helen (Roy) Hayden of Greensboro, Ga.; 17 grandchildren, Larry Boyd, Johnny Jr., Gary, Sue Etta, Nancy and Sandy Adair, Raymond W., Vanessa, Ronald, Johnna, Myrtle, David Rodney, Harold Jr., Gayle Ann, Ronda and Robin Boyd; 39 great grandchildren; and 18 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2003, 11 a.m., at Hatfield Funeral Chapel with Elders Woodrow Nichols and Eddie Layne officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson-Hatfield cemetery at McCarr, Kentucky

Ulysses Iverson Moore
Ulysses Iverson Moore, 86, of Raccoon, Kentucky, formerly of Matewan, W. Va., passed away Monday, September 15, 2003, at Appalachian Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, South Williamson, Kentucky
Born August 1, 1917, in Lineville, Ala., to the late Curtis Moore and Othella Riley Moore, he was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Moore was a retired miner and heating and plumbing contractor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Hatfield Moore; daughter, Elizabeth Bayes; brother, John Columbus Moore; and sisters, Lillian Moore and Mildred Parks.
Surviving are his sons, Newton Clark Moore of Pineville, La. and Curtis Moore of Raccoon, Kentucky; daughter, Joyce Horn of Georgetown, Kentucky; sister, Pauline Pope of Daytona Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Dr. Kevin Bayes, Amy Clay, Jason Curtis Moore, Kelly Inabinet, Robert Moore and Deanna Shuler; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2003, 11 a.m., at Weaver Mortuary with Revs. David Smith and Rodney Wicker officiating. Burial will follow in Buskirk cemetery, Buskirk, Kentucky Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Ernest Chapman Jr., 73, of Phelps, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2003, at the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center at Phelps, Kentucky
He was born May 15, 1930 in Petros, Tenn., the son of the late Ernest Sr. and Dora Taylor Chapman.
He was a retired factory worker and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2003, 11 a.m., at the R.S. Jones and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsome Memorial cemetery at Robinson Creek, Kentucky
