Veronica J. Niehaus Hieber, 83, of York, Pa., formerly of Fort Thomas and Cold Spring, died Sunday at Manor Care Health Services in York. She was a secretary with Bache & Co., Cincinnati, and a member of St. Joseph Church in Cold Spring, the Fort Thomas Women's Club and Highland Country Club. She was a former coach of the Mighty Mite Bowling League for Glen Schmidt's Bowling Lanes. Her husband, John H. Hieber, and a daughter, Harriet Hieber, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, J. Elaine Hieber of Ames, Iowa; a son, J. Stephen Hieber of York, Pa.; sisters, Agnes Hoppenjans and Margaret Puttman, both of Fort Mitchell; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Paul Henry Meyers Sr., 71, of Southgate, died at 6:20 a.m., Monday, at Bethesda Northern Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was a retired ice cream maker with French Bauer Dairy in Cincinnati, and co-founder of the Southgate Volunteer Fire Life Squad. He was a member of the Lionel Collectors Club of America, the Queen City Umpires Association and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Meyers; sons, Paul H. Meyers Jr. of Dayton, Richard L. Meyers of Southgate, Patrick G. Meyers of Crestview, Gregory V. Meyers and Michael K. Meyers, both of Highland Heights; a brother, Thomas L. Meyers of Cincinnati; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lola Louise Moore, 91, of Fort Thomas, died Sunday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home in Fort Thomas. She was a bookkeeper with Victor H. Brown & Sons Co.

William S. Peniston Sr., 62, of Latonia, died at 8:49 p.m., Saturday, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a retired employee of Kentucky Motor Parts and an office manager with Harrison Terminal. He was a member of Elmwood, Ohio, Eagles, and an Army veteran.

Mary Frances Reckers, 82, of Boiling Springs, S.C., formerly of Latonia, died at 3:45 p.m., Saturday, at White Oak Manor, Spartanburg, S.C. Her husband, Charles Reckers, died in 1966.

John Vernon Strasinger, 78, of Cincinnati, formerly of Newport, died Monday at Riverview Nursing Community in Cincinnati.
He was a manufacturing engineer with General Electric and a member of Robert Burns Masonic Lodge No. 163, Newport, Scottish Rite of Covington and Shriners of Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Nannie Strasinger; daughters, Shirley Beasley and Phyllis Black, both of Cincinnati, Dawn Martin of Palmetto, Fla., and Nancy Viox of Erlanger; a sister, Emma Miler of Gibsonville, N.C.; a brother, David Strasinger of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Robert Tarbeck, 79, of Pikeville, died at 2 a.m., Friday, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital. He was a sports announcer, broadcasting Pikeville High School and Pikeville College athletics for many years with radio station WPKE. He was a member of the Pikeville First Christian Church and the Pikeville Jaycees, and was a World War II veteran.
His wife, Virginia Day Tarbeck, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Duermann of Crestview Hills.
Services were Sunday in Pikeville.
Burial was in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville.

Robert Woodruff, 74, of Maysville, died Monday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville. He was a retired farmer and an Army veteran of World War II.
His wife, Florence Woodruff, died in 1996.
Survivors include daughters, Roberta Tucker of Germantown, Ramona Lathem of Brooksville and Dorothy McDonald of North Port, N.Y.; sons, Robert F. Lucille Shafer Gardner was 'small, but mighty'
Lucille Shafer Gardner, who was very active in the Licking River Neighborhood Association in Covington, was remembered Tuesday as a woman who gave unselfishly of herself.
Whether it was helping a neighbor open their homes for viewing or feeding a stray cat, Mrs. Gardner would help, said a daughter, Caroline Finck of Villa Hills.
"She was a very determined lady; she was small, but mighty," Mrs. Finck said. "She wasn't overly outspoken. She spoke her mind with grace."
Mrs. Gardner, 82, of Covington, died at 12:40 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. She was a retired credit union service manager with Baldwin United in Cincinnati, a former bookkeeper with Churn-Gold Co. in Cincinnati and Madeira Manor Catering.
Mrs. Gardner spent most of her life in the Licking River neighborhood of Covington and enjoyed helping neighbors open their homes for annual tours, her daughter said.
Whether passing out fliers, attending meetings or encouraging new neighbors, Mrs. Gardner was a local fixture, her daughter said.
"She was not only interested in the neighborhood, but also with people. She enjoyed meeting people," Mrs. Finck said.
Mrs. Gardner was a member of First United Methodist Church of Covington, White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 10, the Coving- ton Licking River Historical Association, the Kenton County Republican Club and the Cincinnati Rose Society. Her husband, Marvin L. Gardner, died in 1995.
Other survivors include another daughter, Anita L. Rieskamp of Covington; a brother, John Shafer of Covington; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Covington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 tonight at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington, and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. J. F. Ballard, 73, of Owenton, died Monday at Frankfort Regional Hospital. He was a carpenter, farmer and retired employee of the Department of military Affairs.

Samual Edward Batton, 30, of Morning View, died at 11 a.m. Friday at the Kenton County Jail in Covington. He was a forklift driver for Radkin Laboratory, Florence, and an Army veteran.

Kaywood "Woody" Bowling, 73, of Florence, died Monday at his home. He was a retired maintenance worker with Signode Corp., a member of St. Barbara Church in Erlanger and the Knights of Columbus, and an Army veteran of World War II. A daughter, Barbara Bowling, died in 1989.
