Rodney T. Sallee, 56, died Monday, November 8, 2010 in Anderson County. Born July 5, 1954 in Mercer County, he was the son of Anna J. Snipes Sallee of Harrodsburg and the late Rue Edwin Sallee, Sr. Rodney was a self-employed handyman and attended Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his mother include one brother Rue Edwin Sallee, Jr. of Harrodsburg, five sisters: Mildred (Gerald) Thompson of Shelbyville, Pam Sallee Devine of Harrodsburg, Patricia (Bobby) Carrier of Harrodsburg, Peggy (Bobby) Ross of Burgin, and Sherry (Earl) Robbins of Harrodsburg. Twelve nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by one nephew Travis Devine
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Spring Hill Cemetery
with Matthew Robbins officiating.
No visitation will be held.

Lloyd V. Pickett, Sr., 86, husband for Sixty Two Years to Betty Jo Royse Pickett, of Harrodsburg, died Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Charleston Health Care Center in Danville. Born March 4, 1924 in Jessamine County, he was the son of the late Albert Ray and Elizabeth Fredrick Pickett, Sr. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific. He was a retired Farm Equipment Salesman for Mayes & Sims Equipment Company and was a Member and Deacon of Burgin Christian Church. Lloyd was a farmer, an avid coon hunter, a Life Member of VFW Post 6935, and a member of the American Legion Post 52.
Besides his wife, Lloyd is survived by three sons: Lloyd V. (Sandi) Pickett, Jr. of Harrodsburg, Bill (Crystal) Pickett of Lawrenceburg, and Allen (Tami) Pickett of Lancaster. One daughter Ann P. (Eli) Miller of Lexington, one brother Carl B. (Mitzi) Pickett of Tucson, AZ, five grandchildren: Beth Ann (Scott) Lunce, Haley Pickett, Joanna Pickett, Connlee Pickett, and Ava Pickett, and two great grandchildren Trevor Slone and Haley Lunce.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Pickett Shearer and Louise Pickett O’Connell, and one brother A.R. “Bud” Pickett, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Strange and Rev. Mandye Yates officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and after 7:00 a.m. Monday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Burgin Christian Church, P.O. Box D, Burgin, KY 40310.

Beatrice Watts Vance, widow of Hugh Lewis Vance, age 102, died Monday, November 1, 2010 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care in Harrodsburg, KY. Born July 22, 1908 in Perryville, KY., she was the daughter of the late James T. and Gillie Huff Watts. She attended Harrodsburg High School, was a homemaker, a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and was also a member of the Druid Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta for fifty years.
Survivors include one daughter: Dr. Marilyn McGaughey of Atlanta, GA.; two grandchildren: John Thomas (Carolyn) McGaughey, III of Athens, GA and Melissa (Hewitt) Ward Harned of Murrells Inlet, SC.; two step-grandchildren: John S. Ward, III of Idaho and Marie Ward of Illinois, and three step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Mrs. Virginia Ward, her son-in-law John S. Ward, Jr., five brothers: Emery, James, John, Tilford and Reid Watts and six sisters: Zerilda Watts Lester, Lillie Watts Leonard, Gillie Watts Carpenter, Faye Watts Harmon, Marie Watts Jordan and Margie Watts Cox.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Robert DeFoor officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery
in Harrodsburg. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ruby Mosley Frisby Henson, 77, of Lexington, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Bluegrass Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lexington. Born January 13, 1933 in Breathitt County, she was the daughter of the late Pleasant and Arizona Halcomb Mosley. She was a retired L.P.N. from Good Samaritan Hospital after twenty years and was a former Secretary for Mercer County Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
She is survived by her special friends Gene and Linda Traugott of Lexington, and was preceded in death by her first husband Chester Frisby, her second husband Bill Henson, and her sister Velma Mason.
A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. No visitation will be held.

Larry Gover, 54, of Junction City, husband of the late Elizabeth Ann Harrison Gover, died Friday, October 29, 2010 at his residence. Born November 22, 1955 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Wesley B. and Gladys Clarkson Gover, II. He had worked for ten years as a Security Guard at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and had also served for twenty years as an Animal Control Officer for the City of Danville. Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, and cooking.
Survivors include two step-children, one half-brother Raymond Phillips of Hustonville and one brother Olen Joe Gover of Junction City. Two sisters: Mary Ellen Phillips of Junction City and Wendy (Elby) Smith of Crab Orchard, three step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by one brother Wesley Bruce Gover, III.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dale Denton officiating. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery
with Ben Smith, Raymond Reed, Michael Hill, and Elby Smith serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Charles Robert Pinkston, 65, of Springfield, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the Springview Hospital in Lebanon. Born October 23, 1944 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Ray and Maxine Ashton Pinkston. He was a retired factory worker at Inoac, was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, and enjoyed fishing, U.K. Basketball and playing Rook.
Survivors include two daughters: Lisha (Doug) Davis of Nashville, TN, and Andrea (Billy) Hooper of Springfield. Two brothers Earl W. (Barbara) Pinkston of Danville and Steve D. (Kim) Pinkston of Harrodsburg. Three grandchildren Kristin Tudor, Toy Howard, and Braden Hooper. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Donald and Larry Pinkston.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. A private service will be held at a later date.

Amanda Gwen Watts, 31, wife of John Shannon Watts, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born March 30, 1979 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of Mike and Joyce Sparks Scull. She was a 1997 graduate of Mercer County High School, a former employee at Judy’s Networking, a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, and was presently attending Kirkwood Baptist Church. Amanda enjoyed scrapbooking, swimming, riding roller coasters, and watching her sons play sports.
Other than her husband and parents, Amanda is survived by her two sons Michael Dylon Sagracy and Khristian Tyler Sagracy both of Harrodsburg. Her maternal grandmother Alice Sparks of Harrodsburg, one brother Michael Scull of Salvisa, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Stewart Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Kirkwood Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 7:00 a.m. Saturday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Thurman Hardin 86, husband of the late Virginia McGinnis Hardin, of Burgin died Wednesday Oct. 20, 2010, at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. He was born July 16, 1924 in Mercer County, to the late Andrew and Betsy Currens Hardin. Mr. Hardin was a farmer.
Survivors include one brother Charles A. Hardin of Harrodsburg. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday Oct. 24, 2010 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Rich McGinnis, Ronnie McGinnis, Eddie McGinnis, Brent McGinnis, Donnie Webb, Bob Varnarsdall, Danny Noel and Ralph Culp. Ralph Culp, Sr. will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery

Martha Nixon Powers was born on April 30, 1933 and died on October 18, 2010 in Ellicott City, Maryland. She was the daughter of Frank Leslie Powers of Augusta, KY and Elizabeth Tobin Powers of Harrodsburg, KY. She grew up in Carrollton, KY and graduated from Carroll County High School. She was active in the Methodist Church throughout her life. She attended the University of Kentucky and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Her education was interrupted by marriage and children. As a military spouse, she lived in Florida and Bittburg, Germany. She subsequently lived in Kentucky, Alabama, Ohio and Wyoming before returning to Kentucky. She graduated from Spencerian College in Louisville. She retired after a career as a legal secretary in Louisville. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She was an avid bridge player and loved her friends and family. Her courage and dedication was an inspiration for her family and to others.
She is survived by her brother Frank Leslie Powers of Niceville, FL, her daughter Leslie Elizabeth Waters of Ellicott City, MD, her son Bradford Waters of Germantown, TN, her grandchildren Frank Patrick Tisano of Ellicott City, MD, Lance William Waters and Nathan Bradford Waters of Germantown, TN; and cousins Martha Hurt Gentry of Harrodsburg, KY and Judy Childress of Danville, KY.
Funeral services will be at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg, KY on October 21, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery
in Harrodsburg, KY.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Coyle, 67, wife of Kenny W. Coyle of Harrodsburg died Friday, October 15, 2010 at her residence. Born December14, 1942 in Washington, D.C. Mary was the daughter of the late Berlin Bedford Rider and Mabel Reynolds Coyle. She was a twenty year employee of HallMack where she worked in the shipping department. Mary was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was a collector of stamps, costume jewelry and jewel tea dishes.
In addition to her husband Mary is survived by one daughter: Jerri Maria (William) Carter of Mercer County, one brother: John W. Rider of Mercer County, two grandchildren: Gentry Carter and Jarrod Carter both of Mercer County and one niece and two nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Billy Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery
with John W. Rider, Jr., Lee Patterson, John W. Rider, III, Rosalyn Drury, Scott Noland, Maurice Baker, Jr. and Roger McCarter serving as pallbearers.
