Garnett “Duck” Collier, 77, husband of Dorothy Corman Collier, died Monday, December 6, 2010 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Born December 31, 1932 in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Earl Daniel and Willie Price Williams Collier. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, was retired from Dixie Cup in Lexington, a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, spending time with his dog Cupcake, and his Grandchildren.
Survivors other than his wife include six sons: Garnett Wayne Collier of Harrodsburg, Ricky Thomas Collier of Nelson, PA., James Price Collier of Hustonville, Paul Daniel (Teresa) Collier of Harrodsburg, Gregory Lee Collier of Harrodsburg, and Robert Todd (Conjuna) Collier of Harrodsburg. Two daughters: Gloria Garnetta (John) White of Harrodsburg and Mary (Curtis) Collier-Grant of Columbia. Three brothers: Earl D. Collier, Jr. of Harrodsburg, Carlos Collier of Moreland, and Denzil Collier of Lancaster. Twenty one grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons James Price Collier and Devon Thomas Collier, one brother Paul Collier, and one sister Christine Moore.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Hilary Claypool and Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial with military Honors will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens with Josh Collier, Michael Watts, Brandon Scheller, Gordon Wayne Collier, Michael “Tobo” Moore, Mark McGrath, and Carlos Collier, Jr. serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Watts, James Corman, Johnnie Carr, Johnnie Drury, Cameron Grant, Gavin Murphy, Johnnie Waldrep, and David Fisher.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Galilean Children’s Home, P.O. Box 880, Liberty, KY 42539.

Jonathon Wayne Taylor, 63, of Mercer County, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Lexington. Born June 30, 1947 in Mercer County, he was the son of Arnetta Gayle Smith Butler of Mercer County and the late Johnnie Elmon Taylor. He was a self employed Heavy Equipment Operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and doing general mechanic work.
Survivors besides his mother include two sons: Jonathon Wayne (Nona) Taylor, Jr. and Timmy (Carolee Shifflett) Taylor both of Mercer County. One daughter Brittany Taylor of Mercer County, one brother John Keith (Patricia) Taylor of Mercer County, six grandchildren: Wesley, Austin, and Bradley J. Taylor and Maddox Findley, Kiley Fisher, and Heather Hensley. One great grandson Bradley J. Taylor, Jr., one niece Katrina Buford and one step niece Tracie Wafford also survive.
He was preceded in death by one daughter Cherry Lynn Taylor.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Gilbert Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Jimmy “Big Jimmy” Garland Devine, 64, husband of Laura Fugate Devine of Willisburg, Kentucky died Friday, December 3, 2010 at his residence. Born May 25, 1946 in Washington County, Jimmy was the son of the late Cleo and Beulah Dean Devine. He was a self employed truck driver and a member of the Mt. Olivet Church.
In addition to his wife Jimmy is survived by two sons: Jeffrey (Teresa) Devine and Jonathan Devine both of Harrodsburg, two granddaughters: Amber and Amanda Devine of Harrodsburg, one brother: Gary Devine of Springfield and one sister: Doris Lay of Willisburg.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Wednesday December 8, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Brother Jay Hatfield and Archie Fugate Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery
in Willisburg, Kentucky with David Bishop, Cecil Buchanan, Joseph Sallee, Frank Fugate, Alvin Buck, Ronnie Sims, Mike Morris and Tommy Jones serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters Amber and Amanda and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Monday, December 6, 2010, 7:00 A.M. till 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 7, 2010 and after 7:00 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday, December 8, 2010.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.

James “Obb” Dean, 97, of Mercer County, husband of the late Emily Driskell Dean, died Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center. Born January 9, 1913 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Marshall and Minnie Woods Dean.
Obb was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II having served with the Super 6th Armored Division. He was involved in five major battles; most notably Normandy Invasion and Battle of the Bulge. He was a farmer, and a former road construction worker.
Survivors include three sons: Julian Dean of Sidney, OH., Carroll Dean and Tony Dean both of Lexington; one daughter Jeanie Dean of Lexington, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by one son Blanton Dean, one brother Argo Dean, and three sisters: Juanita Dean, Hallie Dean, and Delila Dean.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Bohon Christian Church Cemetery. No visitation will be held. Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Addie Darland 97 widow of Ansel “Jack” Darland died Sunday November 28, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington. She was born Oct. 25, 1913 in Waddy, KY to the late Jim and Mary Covert Jetter. Mrs. Darland was a homemaker a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and a charter member of Widow to Widow. She enjoyed working in her church.
Survivors include one son: Jim Darland (Mary) of South Lebanon, Ohio, one daughter Ann Grimes of Lexington. Five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren also survive. There are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday December 1, 2010 at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by Dr. Wayne Spivey. Pallbearers will be Jack Darland, Tyler Bryant, Kenneth Tabscott, Ronald Tabscott, Kevin Horn and Rusty Huffman. David Crawley will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery
Harrodsburg.

Mary Ella W. Ross, 72, of Perryville died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital in Danville. Born October 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Carl Watts and Virgie Phillips Dean. She was the widow of William Thomas “Billy” Ross, a Baptist and a former Cricketeer employee. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, drawing and listening to music.
Survivors include: three sons: William David Ross and Monty Clay Ross of Harrodsburg and Steve Thomas Ross of Lexington; two daughters: Carla Dawn Ross of Harrodsburg, Penny L. Lister and her husband, Barkley of Perryville; a granddaughter she raised: April Lee Ross of Harrodsburg; one brother: Carl Chris Watts of Lexington; one sister: Charlene Timm of Denmark, WS; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Dana Jo Ross; two sons: Billy Chris Ross and Thomas Lee Ross and a sister: Nancy Proctor.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Junior Fields officiating. Burial will be in the Cornishville Christian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Friday until time of the funeral at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
Leibundguth, Shirley Mae

Shirley Mae Leibundguth, 75 of Harrodsburg, died Sunday Nov. 21, 2010 at her residence. She was born April 6, 1935 in Sumner, Iowa. to the late Henry Bergman and Edna Huebner Bergman. Mrs. Leibundguth was the widow of Arthur Leibundguth. She was a graduate of State University of Iowa where she received her Bachelor of Arts, certificate of teaching from Luther College, and her nursing degree from University of South Florida.
Survivors include two sons: Marc Leibundguth and David (Rose) Leibundguth both of Harrodsburg. Two brothers Donald Bergman of Bowling Green, KY and Wayne Bergman of Minnesota; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
No visitation or funeral will be held.

Wight, Dean Curtis

Dean Curtis Wight, 72, husband of Sandra Lynn O’Conner Wight died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at his residence. Born April 3, 1937, in New York, Dean was the son of the late Ida Wight. He was a construction worker and an avid Denver Bronco Fan and enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son: Doug Wight of Colorado, two step-sons: Carlos Torres of Burgin and Darin Wirick, one daughter: Myka (Scott) Sterling of Texas, three step-daughters: Sharon Lynn Rios of Burgin, Teresa Wirick of North Carolina and Johnna Voght of Oregon, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A private service will held at a later date.

Mr. J. C. Catlett, 88, husband of the late Lillie B. Catlett died Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center in Harrodsburg. Born June 23, 1922 in Mercer County, J.C. was the son of the late Ansel and Gertie B. Devine Catlett. He was a farmer, a former employee of Hayslett Mechanical Contractors and the State Road Department and a member of the Benton Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son: Bruce (Freda) Catlett of Mercer County, one grandchild: Scarlett (Brad) Ingram, two great-grandchildren: Hannah and Kelli Ingram and several nieces and nephews.
J.C. was preceded in death by two sisters: Laverne Collier and Alma Faye Best.
Funeral services will conduct 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Doug Strader and Tim Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery

Dora Elizabeth Pulliam Estes, 86, widow of John Estes, died Friday, November 12, 2010. Born October 3, 1924 in Boyle County, she was the daughter of the late Zack & Roberta League Pulliam. She was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W., was a retired Mercer Dress Employee and a member of the Shawnee Run Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters: Martha Monroe and Patsy (Bill) Harrison both of Burgin, and one son Danny (Sharon) Hisle of Pennsylvania. Six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: James Pulliam and George Pulliam and three sisters: Nancy Huffman, Elsie Davis, and Virginia Frantom.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Geoff Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery
