Sam “Dink” Douglas, 71 of Harrodsburg died Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Born October 6, 1939 in Casey County, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mackie Delk Douglas. He was a retired small engine repairman and enjoyed gardening.
Sam is survived by one son: Sammy Douglas, four daughters: Betty Jane Douglas, Bonnie Douglas, Loretta Douglas and Mary Jean Douglas, four sisters: Nancy Proctor of Harrodsburg, Anna Mae Wainscott of FL, Marie Huffman and Jewel Lancaster of Lancaster KY, several grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Nancy Douglas and a brother: Jack Douglas.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with David Smith officiating. Burial will be in the McKinney Cemetery
with J.E. Routin, Steve Harp, Jason Routin, James Doolin, Lamont Linton, J.E. Routin, Sr. and Ronnie Doolin serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Moorine Harrison, 86, of Salvisa, widow of Norman Harrison died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at her residence. Born April 19, 1924 in Mercer County, Moorine was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Mamie Preston Jackson. She was a homemaker, a member of the Abundant Life Worship Center and enjoyed painting landscapes.
Moorine is survived by four sons: Ronnie (Beth) Harrison of Lexington KY, Lonnie (Toni) Harrison of Bloomfield IN, Rickey Harrison of AZ and Douglas (Cindy) Harrison of Wilmington OH, two daughters: Bonnie (Marvin) Robinson of Harrodsburg KY and Sharon (Danny) Broce of Salvisa KY, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two great - great grandchildren and special caregiver: Mary Beth Berryman.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 22, 2011 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Barry Harmon officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery
with Jimmy Simpson, Mark Broce, Jamie Broce, Lonnie Harrison, Jr., Eli Harrison, Trey McCallie and Rory Macguire serving as pallbearers.

Homer White, 86, husband of the late Alma Wray White, died Monday, January 17, 2011 at his residence. Born March 8, 1923 in Richond, he was the son of the late Joe and Jessie Corner White. He was retired from Hayslett’s Mechanical Contractors and was a member of the Dry Branch Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW Post 3634 in Boyle County. He enjoyed fishing, rabbit hunting, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include two sons: Homer White, Jr. of Mercer County and Jerry Lee White of Paducah. Five daughters: Jean Savage of Mercer County, Judy Thompson of Danville, Carolyn West of Junction City, Sheila Williams of Lincoln County, and Lisa White of Junction City. One brother Bobby White of Mercer County, eighteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by one son James Allen White, three brothers: Jim, Herbert, and Stanley White, and two sisters: Lucille Freeman and Ruby Carroll.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Burial with military Honors will be in Spring Hill Cemetery
with Matthew West, Devin Adams, Homer Shawn Williams, Jamie Lynn Williams, Anthony Andrew Williams, Troy Moore, Homer James White, James Allen White, Jr., Michael Savage, and Joey White serving as pallbearers.

Clyde Claunch, 72, husband of Betty Ann Collier Claunch, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at his residence. Born August 16, 1938 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late James R. and Beulah Bugg Claunch. He had worked at Kentucky River Distillery, Dixie Cup, and had been a builder. He was a member of the Benton Baptist Church and enjoyed his time relaxing at home.
Survivors other than his wife include two sons: Randall Scott (Pam Parks) Claunch of Lexington and James Douglas Claunch of Harrodsburg; one daughter Belva Lynn Claunch of Indiana. One aunt and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery
with Randall Scott Claunch, James Douglas Claunch, Betty Ann Claunch, Troy Collier, John Watts, Chris Watts, and Michael Watts serving as pallbearers.

Reverend Roy Lee Barger, 83, husband of Mary Pauline Barger of Harrodsburg died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born November 4, 1927 in Saul, Kentucky he was the son of the late John D. and Laura Spurlock Barger. Rev. Barger was a minister of the Church of God for sixty years; he had pastored eight other churches and was a member of the Harrodsburg Church of God. He had earned a Masters Degree in Youth and Christian Education; he was also a thirty year employee of the William Powell Manufacturing Co. Reverend Barger was a veteran of the United States Army, a United States Army Reservist and a member of the Kentucky National Guard. He served in World War II where he received the Victory Medal and the WW II Occupation Medal; he also received a Presidential Citation from President Truman.
Survivors in addition to his wife are, three sons: James (Ollie) Barger of NC, Stephen Barger of IN and Tim (Cynthia) Barger of Burgin, one daughter: Sandra (Henry) Wells of Washington Co., two brothers: John David Barger of Hyden, KY and Robert (Nancy) Barger of AL, four sisters: Belva Tryee of AL, Beulah Henderenson of AL, Bertha Campbell of Loveland, OH and Neva Baker of AL, nineteen grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Rev. Barger was preceded in death by a son: Perry Barger, a daughter: Linda Scott and three brothers: Ray S., Troy and J.D. Barger.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Harrodsburg Church of God with Bro. Glenn Doughtery officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Charles Henry “Junie” Jenkins, Jr., 55, husband of Vickey L. Jenkins of Harrodsburg died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at his residence. Born January 2, 1956, Charles is the son of Willie Bernice Bea Jenkins of Independence, KS and the late Charles H. Jenkins, Sr. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church and enjoyed bird watching, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and mother, Charles is survived by four children: Amber Jenkins of Harrodsburg, Kayla Robinson of WA, Cathy (Rob) Corson of Nicholasville and Bobby (Sherry) Wolter of Lexington, three brothers: Amos, Mark and Johnny (Vicki) Jenkins all of Harrodsburg, three sisters: Addye (Wayne) Jackson of Ethel, MI, Sue (Leslie) McCurry of Iva, SC and Debbie (Mark) Jenkins Walker, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Charles is also survived by his step-mother: Aileen Jenkins of Harrodsburg.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Gary Story and Derek Baker officiating. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery

James L. Ellis, 90, husband of the late Geneva Durham Ellis, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington. Born September 30, 1920 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Elwood and Katheren McFarland Ellis, Sr. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, was a self employed farmer and was widely known as the “Walnut King”. Mr. Ellis was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church and Mercer County Senior Citizens. He enjoyed the Hwy. 127 Yard Sale and visiting with friends at Dairy Queen and Lee’s Famous Recipe.
Survivors include one daughter Judy (James) Cox of Harrodsburg, two brothers: Horace Cecil (Marie) Ellis of Harrodsburg and Elwood (Charlene) Ellis, Jr. of Lakeland, FL, two grandchildren: James Robert (Stephanie) Davis of Harrodsburg and April (Scott) Cunningham of Liberty. One step grandchild Patience Cox of Harrodsburg, two great grandchildren Ellisa Davis of Harrodsburg and Dylan Cunningham of Liberty, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Ed Ellis and George Ellis, and two sisters Marie Shewmaker and Viola Castle Berry.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Harrodsburg Christian Church with Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery

Nancy Mildred Robinson, 82, of Salvisa, mother of Mildred (Charles) Burkhead died Monday, January 11, 2011 at her daughter’s residence. Born September 27, 1928, Nancy was the daughter of the late James and Hester Humes Robinson. She was a retired employee of Universal Fasteners and a member of the Salvisa Baptist Church.
In addition to her daughter and son-in-law Nancy is survived by one sister: Lyda Robinson, two brothers: James “Red” Robinson of Harrodsburg and Rayford Robinson of Louisville, two grandchildren: Deborah Bowyer of Lexington and Carrie Tucker of Salvisa, four great grandchildren: Kyle Bowyer, Noel Bowyer, Levi Tucker and Matthew Tucker, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Nancy is preceded in death by a sister: Kathryn Baker and a brother: William Robinson.

Ora Lee Grubbs, 76, wife of Harold L. Grubbs of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, January 09, 2011 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born January 9, 1935 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Della Peavler Peavler. She had worked at Cricketeer and the Harrodsburg Health Care Center, was a member of the Berea Christian Church, and enjoyed flowers, gardening, and crocheting.
Survivors besides her husband include one daughter Debra Jean (Danny) Humber of Harrodsburg; three sons: Keith Grubbs of Danville, Michael Lee Grubbs of Harrodsburg, and Timothy Lynn (Jenny) Grubbs of Springfield. Nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by one daughter Sharon Marie Grubbs, two brothers George and Dwight Peavler, and one sister Katherine Holt. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with John Hockersmith, III and Donnie Releford officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery
