Clayton L. Baxter, 43, husband of Brenda Joyce Lewis Baxter, died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born May 29, 1965 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Collis “Tucker” Duane Baxter of Danville and the late Patsy Joan Dismuke Baxter. He was a service station attendant at Montgomery Gulf and had formerly worked for Sellers Engineering in Danville. He was a graduate of Boyle County High School, enjoyed playing golf, fishing, all animals, and the St. Louis Rams.
Survivors besides his wife and father include his son Shane Clayton Baxter of Mercer County, one brother Audie D. (Tammy) Baxter of Danville, two sisters: Kimberly A. (Johnny) Grubbs of Lancaster and Sherry L. (Arnold Wayne) Carter of Mercer County. A special niece Ashley Baxter, special nephew Michael Rauenzahn, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Spring Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Carlos Caldwell, John Merriman, Michael Rauenzahn, Jerry Thomas Dismuke, Jim Brock, Johnny Grubbs, Arnold Wayne Carter, and Brian Peyton. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Lewis, Haldon Lewis, John Pike, Dr. Finley Hendrickson, Dr. Mark Spurlin, and Dr. Tariq Muhammad.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. There will be no visitation Saturday.

Lillian Mae Church, 68, wife of Tony Church of Burgin died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born September 1, 1940 in Lebanon KY, she was the daughter of the late George Thorton and Dora Bland O’Daniel. Lillian was a clerk for the City of Burgin and a graduate of the Danville Business College. She enjoyed camping and baseball.
In addition to her husband, Lillian is survived by a daughter: Karen Ryan of Burgin, two brothers: Robert (Betty) Raley and Virgil (Pam) O’Daniel both of Lebanon, two sisters: Hazel Nalley of Lebanon and Alice (Morris) Tripp of Grifton, NC, two grandsons: Ricky Dale and Joshua Lee Ryan of Burgin and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M, Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Smith officiating, burial will be in the Burgin Memorial Gardens Cemetery
with Jackie Hammons, Jerry Thacker, Wesley Phillips, James Allen Motley, Milton Hammons and Scotty Hammons serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 7:00 A.M. Friday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Linda Pulliam, 62 died Sunday, January 31, 2010. Born July 20, 1947 in Bath, NY, she was the daughter of Vivian Hurlbert of Harrodsburg and the late Preston Hurlbert. Linda was a retired Corning Incorporated employee. She enjoyed shopping and traveling.
In addition to her mother Linda is survived by her husband: Tony Pulliam of Burgin, one son: Steven Sims of Harrodsburg, two grandchildren: Zachary and Ashlyn, one sister: Dianne Dotson of Florida, two brothers: Brian Hurlbert of Harrodsburg and Mike Hurlbert of Colorado, two nieces and three nephews also survive.
There will be no public service.

Tena Constantino, 52, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Born April 15, 1957 in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Catherine Murphy Stewart. Tena was a former restaurant manager for the Huddle House, she was an artist, enjoyed traveling and loved her grandchildren.
Tena is survived by one daughter: Katrina (Bruce) Hartman of Harrodsburg, one brother: J. B. Stewart of Nicholasville, two sisters: Donna Abney of Richmond and Helen Lewyn of Harrodsburg, three grandchildren: Jaxen, Chloe and Peyton and two special nephews: Patrick and Bryan Lewyn and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with James Tipton officiating.

Mr. J.W. Sherrow, 65, husband of Brenda Bugg Sherrow, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born July 20, 1944 in Danville, he was the son of the late J.W. and Dorothy Middleton Sherrow. He was a truck driver and former Southern Railroad employee. He loved softball and his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing basketball, visiting McDonalds and was an avid U.K. Basketball.
Additional survivors besides his wife include two sons: James Troy Sherrow and Michael Brent Sherrow, both of Harrodsburg; one daughter: Gina Sherrow Routin and her husband, James of Hustonville; two sisters: Wanda Land of Lancaster and Betty Harp of Danville; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his, Linda Farmer.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. David Collier and Larry Camic officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery
with John Sherrow, Jim Taylor, James Routin, Eugene Bugg, Buddy Daughterty, Steve Bugg, Steve Harp and Travis Land serving as pallbearers and his McDonald’s Friends serving as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Frances L. Young, 85, widow of William Amos Young, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born September 11, 1924 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Edith Brady Robertson. She was a homemaker, a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church, enjoyed baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter Connie (John) Mink of Harrodsburg; two sons: William (Maureen) Young and Tony (Betty Jo) Young both of Harrodsburg. One sister Mae Adkins of Colquitt, Georgia, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Deep Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Lewis Walter and Bro. Scott Davis officiating. Burial will be in Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery

Zella Pauline Lyons, 54, wife of Charles Winston Lyons, died Friday, January 15, 2010 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born April 1, 1955 in Jessamine County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Dorothy Bottoms Morris. She was retired from Florida Tile and was currently employed at Timberland. She had attended Deep Creek Baptist Church, enjoyed cooking, trips to Tennessee, working in her flower garden, and going to yard sales.
Besides her husband, survivors include her son Charles William (Leigh) Lyons of Harrodsburg; two daughters: Sheryl (Terry) Young of Irvine and Sherry (Rusty) Stinnett of Lancaster. Three brothers: Bobby Kerns and Buddy Morris both of Harrodsburg and Ernie Morris of San Diego, CA. One sister Pat Hurt of Versailles, one special cousin Charley Stinnett of Harrodsburg, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Linda Morris, Janie McKenzie, and Deborah Hartley.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Tench officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery

Johnnie C. Simpson, 83, husband of Dorothy Gash Simpson of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore. Born October 14, 1926 in Mackville, he was the son of the late Taylor and Esther Corn Simpson. He was a graduate of Mackville High School, an U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, a lifetime farmer and also road construction worker, an avid coon hunter and outdoorsman, a former Deacon and Elder at Magnolia Street Christian Church, and a member of the Carpenters Christian Church.
Survivors besides his wife include two daughters: Judy Carol (Roger) Woolums of Wilmore and Esther LuAnn (Steven) Sinkhorn of Danville. One son William Terrill Simpson of Cornishville, four stepsons: Michael Baxter of Georgia, Gary Lynn Baxter of Tennessee, Steven Baxter and Larry Baxter both of Mercer County. Three grandchildren: Kelley Renea Woolums (Tim Morris) of Jessamine County, Joseph Brian (Alisa) Woolums of Wilmore, and Katy Rene Simpson of Cornishville. Nine step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren: Aaron Joseph Woolums of Wilmore and Emily Faye Woolums of Wilmore, a special young friend Zachary, one step great grandchild, two sisters: Joyce Peel of Nicholasville and Lettie Mae Royalty of Crestwood. One sister-in-law Mrs. Mary Simpson of Lexington, two brothers: Billy Simpson of Harrodsburg and Dwight (Brenda) Simpson of Mackville, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by a son Johnnie Taylor “Butch” Simpson, his first wife of Forty Five Years Katherine Key Simpson, one grandbaby, two brothers: T.H. and James Donald Simpson, and one sister Catherine Gruner.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Warren and Bro. Derek Baker officiating. Burial with military Honors will be in Spring Hill Cemetery

V.W. Lawrence, Jr., 95, widower of Ruth Sizemore Lawrence, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Taylor Manor Nursing Home in Versailles. Born February 13, 1914 in Terrell, Texas he was the son of the late V.W. and Rosilia McLemore Lawrence, Sr. He was an electrician and salesman, and a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his daughter, Rose Marietta Lawrence.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Chaplain Kevin A. Pearce and Chaplain Gary Story officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Monday until the time of funeral service.

James Taylor (J.T.) Bottom, age 82, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born April 28, 1927 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late William Taylor and Mary Frances Bottom and widower of Harvest Mae (Prewitt) Bottom.
He was a U. S. Army Veteran where he served in the Philippines, a retired Signet & Clark employee and a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one son, Joseph D. Bottom of Waynesboro, PA; three brothers, Darrell Bottom and Wathan Bottom, both of Harrodsburg and Walter Bottom of Greensburg, IN; two sisters, Wandola Cheatham of Harrodsburg and Barbara Steele of LaCanta, FL; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Logue officiating. Burial with military Honors will be in Spring Hill Cemetery
