Mary Boesch Bailey, school bus driver
For 22 years, Mary C. Boesch Bailey drove a school bus in Campbell County without a wreck or a ticket.
Through rain, snow, darkness and daybreak, Mrs. Bailey enjoyed her work and prided herself on delivering her charges safely.
One daughter, Lisa Casson of Alexandria, rode as a student under her mother's wing and was amazed by her mother's good attitude.
"I used to hate it because the children were screaming. I would walk home sometimes," Mrs. Casson recalled. "But she had a lot of patience. She enjoyed people and children and she loved to talk. She was very outgoing."
Mrs. Bailey, 70, of Alexandria, died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday at River Valley Nursing Home in Butler. She also was a retired cafeteria worker with Campbell County Schools. A daughter, Connie Bailey, died in 1975.
Mrs. Bailey was a Campbell County native who believed in hard work and passed her ethic to her children. She enjoyed cooking and doting on her grandchildren.
"When she put her mind to something, she did it perfectly," Mrs. Casson said.
She also leaves another daughter, Pam Bailey, of Alexandria; brothers, Joseph Boesch of Alexandria and Henry Boesch of California; a sister, Viola Kramer of Alexandria; and four grandchildren.
