CHESTER SINGLETON
Chester Ray Singleton, 81, of Danville passed away Thurs. Dec 1. Born May 7, 1930 he was the son of the late Marion and Georgie Milburn Singleton.
He had worked at Corning Glass Works of Danville and retired from Phillips Lighting and was a farmer. He was a member of Ellers Memorial Baptist Church. He was a 32 degree Mason and was a member of Rocky Ford Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Eloise Rothwell Singleton; one son, Carroll Allen “C. A.” Singleton; one daughter, Regina (W.C.) Wilkerson; one brother, Russell Singleton; two grandchildren, Kim (Scott) Lanham, and Scott Allen (Kristin) Singleton; three great-grandchildren, Haleigh and Tori Lanham and Brennin Singleton and three step grandchildren, Brad Wilkerson, Cyndi (Chris) Wrenn and Beth (Derrick) Beldon.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Ray Singleton.
Services were held Monday, December 5, at the W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland by Dr. Kenneth Whitehouse. Burial was in Danville Bellevue Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dwayne, Maurice, and Troy Maddox, W.C. Wilkerson, Scott Allen Singleton and Scott Lanham.
MOLLIE SIZEMORE
Mollie Bowling Sizemore, widow of Bernice Sizemore, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born July 1, 1917 in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Levi and America Gibson Bowling. She attended Harrodsburg Pentecostal Church of God and Burgin Church of God and was a member of the Burgin Homemakers Club and the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Delores “Dee” (David) Avington of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Betty (Gene) Motley of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Chester, Pearl and Daniel and three sisters, Lilly, Rella and Serena.
Services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the Shawnee Run Baptist Church with Bro. Donnie Irvin and Bro. Lester Tirey officiating. Burial was in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lath Motley, Nic Brown, Mickey Bowling, Tim Colleran, Paul Lehman and Tom Atkinson. Honorary pallbearers were members of Mercer County Senior Citizens.

FINLEY WILLS
Finley L. Wills, 85, beloved husband of Liberty (Connie) Wills, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011 at Harrodsburg Health Center.
Born in Lexington, he was a son of the late Joseph and Susie Wills.
He was a retired postal clerk, an Army veteran, Navy veteran, a Purple Heart recipient, and a member of Boones Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors other than his wife are: a daughter, Gina Kay (Joe) Turner, Lexington; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremy) Barger and Michelle (Manny) Conha, both of Louisville; and a sister, Mattie Mae Farrow, Lexington.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 5, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Burial was in Athens Cemetery.
SHARON WHITIS
Sharon Kay Whitis, 49, of Danville, died Wednesday Nov. 23, 2011 in Danville.
Born June 30, 1962 in Danville she was the daughter of Opal Lee Brown of Lincoln County and the late William Everet Whitis. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her mother include one son, Christopher (Tiffany) Woodward of Danville; one daughter, Angela Kay Woodward of Danville; one brother, William Gary (Teresa) Whitis of Danville; two sisters, Linda Bugg and Tammy Brown, both of Danville; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Friday, Dec. 2 at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home in Harrodsburg with Bro. Harold Best officiating. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery
in Danville. Active pallbearers were Eric Wright, Christopher Woodward, Tommy Ratliff, George Young, Logan Cline, Jason Woodward and Michael (Mickey) Preston. Matt Bugg served as an honorary pallbearer.

Douglas Laws Post #52, American Legion, Post #6935, VFW and DAV Post #54 conducted military rites for Lyle Weaver at Spring Hill Cemetery
on Nov. 30, 2011.
Those attending were Tom Rappleye, Floyd Shirley, Buddy Howells, Howard Nichols, Joe Harlow, Curtis Sherrow and Allan Teele. U.S. Navy representatives JT1 Charles Griffin and CS1 Keith Phillips from NOSC in Louisville were also present. David Best served as bugler.
PHILLIP COX
Phillip Wayne Cox, 51, of Willisburg, died Friday, December 9, 2011 at his residence.
He was born June 27, 1960 in Shelbyville, son of the late Jimmy McKay Cox and Brenda Joyce Crouch Cox.
He was a former truck driver for Ralph Lewis Inc. in Springfield and a member of the Fairview Christian Church.
Phillip is survived by: his wife, Linda Shely Cox; three children Dorothy Cox (Scott) Phillips (Scott) of Harrodsburg, Julie (Lee) Carlton of Salvisa, and Danny (Desiree) Richardson, Jr. of Willisburg; five grandchildren, Gage Phillips, Sadie, Rachael, and Garrett Carlton and Blaine Richardson.
He was also preceded in death by a brother David Allen Cox.
Funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Bro. Grant Mathes and Bro. Roy Temple Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Willisburg Cemetery.
ELIZABETH FISCHER
Elizabeth Ann Willis “Jo” Fischer, 87, of Lexington, widow of Philip L. C. Fischer, died Sunday, December 11, 2011.
Born in Bondville, KY, she was the daughter of the late James and Ann Katherine Willis.
A member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Jo worked with the Census Bureau, was an avid Bridge player, and loved traveling to Sanibel Island and collecting rare and unusual shells.
She is survived by: two sons, J. B. Fischer of Lexington and Charles Fisher of Chapel Hill, NC.
In addition to her husband and parents, her brother, James Curtis Willis, Jr., preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be Thursday, December 15, from 1-3 p.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. A short service will follow.
Memorials may be made to the Lexington Humane Society.
DONALD GUTHRIE
Donald Glendon Guthrie, 84, Harrodsburg, died Friday, December 9, 2011. He was the widower of Juanita Clark Guthrie and Kitty Jenkins Guthrie.
Born May 10, 1927 in Monticello, he was the son of the late Glendon and Cora Farmer Guthrie. He owned and operated the Bus Station in Harrodsburg for several years. He was a retired construction supervisor and enjoyed wood working as a hobby. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and the Indiana Council of Carpenters.
Survivors include: two daughters, Connie (Jim) Campbell of Anderson, Ind., and Carla Hoots of New Castle, Ind.; two sons, Donald (Connie) Guthrie of Marion, Ind, and Douglas L. Guthrie of Harrodsburg; a son-in-law, Tom Jones of Indianapolis, Ind.; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah G. Jones.
Graveside services were Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at the South Mound Cemetery, New Castle, Ind.

MIKE HURLBERT
Preston Michael Hurlbert, 70, died Dec. 7, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Born March 10, 1941 in Sayre, Penn. he was the son of Vivian and the late Preston Charles Hurlbert. He retired from the Army in 1980 after 20 years of service. He was a resident of both Colorado Springs, Colo and Harrodsburg.
Survivors other than his mother include a daughter, Debbie Epler; a son, Preston Hurlbert Jr.; sister, Diane Dotson; a brother, Brian Hurlbert and three grandchildren.
MIKE HURLBERT
Mike "Who?" Hurlbert, Preston Michael Hurlbert, age 70, passed away December 7, 2011 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Born March 10, 1941 in Sayre, Pennsylvania to Preston Charles and Vivian Bonsar Hurlbert.
Mike is survived by: his loving mother, Vivian; sister, Diane Dotson and brother, Brian Hurlbert; daughter Debbie Epler; and son Preston "Jr. Who?" Hurlbert; grandchildren Amber, Brendon and Taya, along with a host of friends and extended family.
Mike retired from the United States Air Force in August 1980 after 20 years of honorable service for his country. From 1982 until 1999, he worked for the Colorado Springs Police Department as an ID Tech/Fingerprint Specialist. In recent years, he split his time between Colorado Springs, Colorado and Harrodsburg, Kentucky, enjoying his retirement with family and friends who will remember him with much love and laughter.

EVELYN LANGFORD
Evelyn Langford, 88, passed away Friday December 9, 2011 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
She was born on January 20th, 1923 in Liberty. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Ed Coontz, and Mary Brown Fights, and step-mother Edna Coontz.
Evelyn was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom, Liberty Child Center and the Liberty Five and Dime Store.
Survivors include: four daughters, Barbara and (Jerry) Hatchel of Lebanon, Loretta (Marshall) Lee and Janice Langford Baker, both of Liberty, and Deborah (Darrell) Gifford of Harrodsburg; one son, Ronnie (Lillian) Langford of Liberty Township, OH; one sister, Eva Propes of Junction City, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse A. C. Langford; one daughter, Edwenia Bowden, two sisters, Evateen Edwards and Ruby Davis, five half-brothers, Robert, Billy , Luke, George and Jessie Coontz and two half-sisters, Mondelene Turner and Ann Reener.
Funeral services, officiated by Reverend Casey Davis, will held Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel in Liberty. Burial was in the Caney Fork Cemetery.

VIVIAN SANDERS
Vivian Giselle Marshall Sanders, 60, of Harrodsburg, wife of Roger Sanders, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011 in Lexington.
Born Aug. 5, 1951 in Paris, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Hazel Warner Marshall. She was a homemaker and a member Bluegrass Baptist Church.
Survivors other than her husband include three daughters, Sherry Lynn Sanders and Dawn Renee Sanders, both of Lexington, and Tanya Gail Sanders (Anthony) Hammons; three brothers, Hugh Crumby of Paris, Paul Osborne of Winchester and Tony Marshall of Irvine and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister Brenda Marshall Pitts.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Dr. Kenneth Whitehouse officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Billy Joe Webb, Jay A. Webb, Steve Sanders, Stanley Sanders, Roy L. Sanders, Jr., Bill Sanders, Bruce Sanders and Brent Sanders.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 7 a.m. Thursday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
SUSIE SPALDING
Susie Bell Wade Spalding, 82, of Bardstown passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at her residence.
She was born July 18, 1929 in Harrodsburg.
She was a former employee of K.F.C. restaurant and a member of St. John A.M.E. Zion Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Anna Marie Walker of Bardstown; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Wade and Samuel Wade both of Cleveland, OH and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Spalding; parents, Charles and Anna Wade; three brothers and three sisters.
Her memorial service was held Friday, December 9, 2011 at St. John A.M.E. Zion Church with Rev. Samuel Harris officiating.
