ROBERT NAPIER
Robert “Bob” William Napier, 64, died Saturday, November 12, 2011.
Born April 13, 1947 to the late Frank and Elizabeth Simpson Napier, he is the widower of Fran Denney Napier.
Bob was a retired clock smith, master woodworker and loved working on old cars, an avid gardener and one that never saw an obstacle but a finished product. He could make anything grow and put anything back together. He was a member of the Greater Life Apostolic Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: one son, Chris (Rhonda) Napier; one daughter, Rona Napier; one granddaughter, Makenna Brook Napier; and his brother-in-law, Wayne Cash.
In addition to his parents and wife of 44 years, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Lou Cash.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 17, at the Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Rev. Greg Ison and Rev. Ezeriah Gorley will officiate.
Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
The family suggests donations to Heritage Hospice.
FLORENCE PETERSON
Florence Bernice Peterson, 72, of Lexington, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born October 3, 1936, in New York City, NY, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nils Peterson. She was an office manager, a Lutheran and enjoyed her family.
She is survived by a son, Keith P. Nadig of Clearwater, Fla. and four grandchildren: Ryan S., Eric H., Shaun F. and Glen N. Nadig.
She is predeceased by one brother, Carl Peterson.
No services will be held. Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
PHILLIP RAMSEY
Phillip Wade Ramsey, 88, of Winchester, widower of the late Lula Vivian Strange Ramsey, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
Mr. Ramsey was born in Clark County on May 28, 1923 to the late Leroy and Bertha Fitzpatrick Ramsey.
He was a farmer, self employed carpenter, a factory worker for Legget and Platt, a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Cynthiana.
Survivors include: five brothers, Kenneth Ramsey, Paul Ramsey, and Ward Ramsey of Winchester, J. G. Ramsey of Mercer County, and Ralph Ramsey of Madison County; two sisters, Carolyn Whisman of Winchester and Jean Kreitzer of TN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Layton Ramsey and Linville Ramsey.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 14 at the Scobee Funeral Home in Winchester by Pastor Jonathan Taylor. Burial will be in Clarmont Memorial Gardens.

BERTHA RHODES
Bertha Ellen Mullins Rhodes, wife of James Rhodes for 43 years and mother of Patricia (James) Shifflett passed away peaceably on November 8, 2011 at the Heritage Hall in Lawrenceburg.
Bertha was born June 9, 1922 in Pound, VA. She was the youngest and only remaining child of 10 born to Martha Jane and Samuel Stallard.
Her spiritual heritage was in the Old Regular Baptist as her father was an elder/preacher, as was her brother, Conard.
Additional survivors include: three grandchildren; Gregory Millspaugh (Tami), Julie Roberson (Christopher), and James (Jeanie); eight great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jordan, Dylan, Tristan; Blake & Austin; and Jennifer and Breanne; several nieces and nephews, among them a very faithful Linda Mullins (Lawrence), Rayola Moore, and one of her special caregivers, Rita Johnson.
Funeral service were held Saturday, November 12, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington.
Pallbearers were Gregory Millspaugh, James Millspaugh, Christopher Roberson, Blake Roberson, Austin Roberson, Ethan Millspaugh, Lawrence Mullins, and David Poole.
Honorary pallbearer was James Shifflett.
Memorials may be sent to Heritage Hospice of Danville, Kentucky.
ERNEST RYAN SR.
Ernest Porter Ryan, Sr., 89, of Harrodsburg, widower of Lona Mae Ryan LouAllen Ryan, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born July 11, 1922 in Lexington, he was the son of the late Jack William and Betty Jane Bishop Ryan. He owned and operated the Fleetline Cab Company in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: a son, Ernest W. Ryan and a brother: Jack Ryan of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Porter Gene Ryan and two brothers, Homer and Richard Ryan.
Funeral services were, Monday, Nov. 14, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Ollie Mae Wicker officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Ryan, Spencer Ryan, Jason Morris, Porter Gene Ryan Jr., Julie Ryan and Crystal Morris.

GILBERT CHISHOLM
Gilbert Lee Chisholm, 78, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington. He was born June 10, 1933 in Gestville, KY to the late Carrie Mae Lee and Eddie Thomas Chisholm.
He was a member of the Clay Lick United Methodist Church, an Air Force veteran having severed during the Korean War, a member of the American Legion Post #7 in Frankfort, enjoyed fishing, hunting, collecting guns and knives and making latch hook rugs.
Gilbert is survived by: his wife of 54 years, Jane Marlene Poulter Chisholm; one son Tony Lee (Rose) Chisholm of Falls City, WA; a grandson, Christian Lee Chisholm of Long Beach, CA; two brothers, Larry (Azile) Chisholm of Lawrenceburg and Eddie Thomas Chisholm, Jr. of Frankfort; and one stepsister, Phyllis Webster, also of Frankfort.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a step brother, Hillis Chisholm.
Services were held Monday, November 21, at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg with Rev. Joe White officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort with military honors.
Pallbearers were Christian and Tim Chisholm, Bruce Ray and Taylor Caldwell, Tim Brothers, George Wash, Austin Young and Charles Toll.
Honorary pallbearers were William Carter, Vernon Sanders, Gilbert Baxter and Jake Barnett.

DEREK COLEMAN
Derek Coleman, 24, passed away on Thursday November 17, 2011 in Waynesburg.
Derek was born on May 5, 1987, the son of John Godbey of Somerset and Jennifer Coleman Reynolds of Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: one brother, Michael Devin Reynolds of Harrodsburg; his grandparents, Leon and Pat Coleman of Yosemite and Marnella Godbey of Yosemite; and great-grandfather, Don Ware of Argyle, Kentucky.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, November 20, at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel in Liberty with Reverend Chris Dalton officiating. Burial will be in Salyers Cemetery.
Bartle Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
IRA DEAN
Ira Maurice Dean, 99, of Harrodsburg, widower of Ruby Springate Dean, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born June 3, 1912 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Robert Wesley “Bob” and Dora Hurst Dean Sr. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Ebenezer Church of Christ and the Salvisa Ruritan Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (John) Hockersmith of Salvisa; a son, Kenny M. Dean of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with John Hockersmith and John David Lane officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

JESSE LONG
Jesse Clifford Long, 79, of Corbin died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born Nov. 7, 1932, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late George Bradley Long and Jessie Lee Norton Long. He was a member of the Corbin Gospel Temple and served in the U.S. Army. He worked for 40 years for Elmo Greer and Sons in road construction.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; two daughters, Melissa Davis and husband Creston and Donna Jean Pietri and husband Charles; and son, Christopher Russell and wife Judy; grandchildren, Madison, Kaylee and Jaden Davis; Brandon and Meagan Mays and Chris, Macey, Mary and Katie Shelton; great-grandson, Tyler Justice; three sisters, Arnetta Hendren and husband Jim, Betty Jo Barnes, and Norene Baker; two brothers, Boyd Long and David Long and wife Gladys; as well as other family members and many friends, all who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Melvin Long and Bobby Leroy Long.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at the Corbin Gospel Temple with Rev. Jerome Cox officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery
with military rites by the D.A.V. Chapters 158 & 66.

DOROTHY MARTIN
Dorothy “Dot” Martin, 94, widow of Arnold Martin, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 in Harrodsburg.
Born July 8, 1917 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late James and Claudia Yocum Cornish. She was retired from Genesco in Danville and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Hughes of Lexington and Donna (Seldon) Martin Grigsby of Lake Wales, Fla.; one son, Arnold B. (Jean) Martin of Junction City; one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Cornish and two sisters, Tava Hendren and Goldie Stumph.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Cooper officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery
with Jim Dunn, Jamie Dunn, Joe Ash, Robert Florence, Jessie Spraggs and Melvin Martin serving as pallbearers.

FRANCES PENNEBAKER
Frances Ann Daniel Pennebaker, 87, died Thursday November 17, 2011 in her Lexington, home.
Frances graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1946, a member of Chi Omega sorority. She was an active member of Anchor Baptist Church, The Lexington Club, Fayette County Women’s Club, Fayette County Garden Club, Lexington Polo Club, 5th Thursday Club and a Bridge Club. Frances spent much of her life as a Sunday school teacher and retired as a secretary and treasurer of the Pennebaker’s family business. Frances is remembered for her dedication to her loved ones, dignity, compassion, and loyalty, as well as love for University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball.
She is survived by: her husband John F.; one son, John W. , both of Lexington; one daughter, Jane of Harrodsburg; and her granddaughter, Holly of Chicago, Ill.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 21, at the Anchor Baptist Church, 3601 Winthrop Drive, Lexington, Kentucky, 40514, with services conducted by Rev. Paul Sisk.
Donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Anchor Baptist.

LOYD PHILLIPS SR.
Loyd Phillips Sr., 66, of Harrodsburg, husband of Norma Worthington Phillips, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011.
Born June 12, 1945 in Marion County, he was the son of the late John Roy and Geneva Carrier Phillips.
Survivors other than his wife include three daughters, Donna (Richard) Lane, Lisa (Tim) Banks, and Robyn (James) Watts, all of Harrodsburg; one son, Lloyd (Erin) Phillips Jr. of Harrodsburg; four sisters, Shelby (William) Devine and Mary Phillips, both of Harrodsburg, Brenda (Victor) Andrade of Danville and Rose Phillips of Harrodsburg; five brothers, Johnnie (Patricia) Phillips, Danny (Shirley) Phillips of Harrodsburg and Bobby (Norma) Phillips of Lexington, Terry (Laura) Phillips and Connie Phillips, both of Harrodsburg, nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Best officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery
Pallbearers were: Chad, Chris, Mike and Kenny Worthington, Joey Moore, Scotty Phillips, Tim Devine and Richard Lane. Honorary bearers were Dr. Shahzad, Gary Royalty, Zack Rice, nurses from The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital and members of the Bible Alive Sunday School Class.
