KARL GREEN
Karl M. Green, 79, of Harrodsburg, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011 at his home.
Born April 29, 1932 in Louisville, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Dora Day (Berger) Green. He was retired from Dolby and Co. and Norandex where he was a sales agent.
He is survived by, two daughters, Harriet Mullins of Harrodsburg and Karen Green of Iuka, Miss.; a sister: Becky Glaze of Elizabeth, Ind.; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery
with Ralph Neal officiating.
SUSIE HOLMAN
Susie Ann Holman, 92 of Berea, formerly of Crab Orchard, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at her home. She was the widow of James Lee Holman.
Susie was born in Disney, KY on March 3, 1919, a daughter of Baxter and Martha Jane Short Jones.
She was a former employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company and a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church
Ms. Holman is survived by: two daughters, Patricia Rogers and Kathy Holman, both of Berea; three sons, Gary Holman of Copper Creek, Stanley Holman of Harrodsburg and Randy Holman of Somerset; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren
In addition to her husband and parents Ms. Holman was preceded in death by twin sons, Donald and Ronald Holman, sons, Gerald and Joseph Kerry Holman, daughter, Linda Darlene Holman, brothers, Paul, Hobert, Curtis, Jimmy and Woodrow Jones; and sisters, Gracie Jones, Elva Doyle, Dulcie Cloud, Mary Francis Griffin, Maxine Powers, Nora Asby and Lillie Gilbert
Funeral service was held Monday, August 29, 2011 at the McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Rev. Roy Hines officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Ms. Holman's grandsons served as pallbearers, Brian, Rick, Barry, Ronnie, Jason, Anthony Holman, Chris Scheffler and Matthew Rogers

CALEB NEWSOME
Caleb “Don” Newsome, 69, husband of Mary Lou Kennedy Newsome, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011 at his residence.
Born October 9, 1941 in Pike County, he was the son of the late Noah Webster and Gertrude Tackett Newsome. He was the former owner of Newsome’s Ashland in Salvisa, worked at North Mercer Water and was a self employed drywaller. He was a Baptist by faith, enjoyed working with electronics and computers, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Greg (Vonda) Newsome of Mercer County; a daughter, Cindy (John) Canter of Nicholasville; two brothers, Charles Newsome of Lawrenceburg and Fred Newsome of Burgin; a sister, Bobbi Hampton of Versailles, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Graveside services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Spring Hill Cemetery
with Bro. George Dye and Gary Story officiating.
Pallbearers were: Jimmy Howard, Jason Mitchell, John Sims, John Canter, Matthew Newsome, Chad Rakes and Jason Robinson.

BOB PERRY
Bob C. Perry, 75, of Springfield, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in Anderson County to the son of the late Albert C. and Lucille Warford Perry. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, a retired farmer, and was an employee at Kroger in Lebanon.
He is survived by: his wife, Lynda Gabhart Perry, Springfield; three sons, Rick (Barri) Perry, , Winchester, Tim (Candy) Perry and Nelson Eugene Perry, both of Lawrenceburg; thee step children, Jeannie (Mike) Strong, Georgetown, Chris (Donna) Noel and Kathy (Sandy) Carey both of Mackville; two sisters, Ida Mae Peak, Albolene, Texas, and Brenda Faye Wilhoite, Lawrenceburg; three grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Elissa Lynn Perry, two brothers, Donald Perry and Eugene Perry.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Justin Compton officiating. Burial followed in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Josh Carey, Kevin Artz, Justin Perry, Wyatt Noel, Travis Ellis, Chris Curtis, Brandon Brown and Jason Brown.
Honorary bearers were Tony Likins and Sean Alteri.
CHARLES PRESTON
Charles Lee Preston, 74, of Harrodsburg, husband of Betty Sue Peach Preston, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 11, 1936 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late William Elbert and Virginia Larkin Preston. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Education Association, Kentucky Education Association and National Education Assoc. He was a retired teacher with the Mercer County School System and a member and Sunday School teacher at Joseph Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed flying model planes and art work.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by cousins: Pauline (James) Moore of Lexington; Freda (Al) Cassicoli of Okla.; Elizabeth Robinson of Mo.; Jim Reddick of Texas; Mauda Lee of Calif.; George Reddick of Wash. and Preston Reddick of Okla.
He was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Preston.
Services will be conducted Friday, Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Gill Duffee and Donald McCoun. Burial will be in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Mark Peach, Timothy Peach, Larry Taylor, Tony Young, David Ball and David McCoun.
Visitation is today, Thursday, Sept. 1 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Gideon Bible Fund or Joseph Chapel Church.

MARVIN ASHFORD
Marvin L. Ashford, 74, of Harrodsburg, husband of Janet Zuber Ashford, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011 at the Thomson Hood V.A. Center in Wilmore.
Born July 1, 1937 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Garnett and Ruby Marksbury Ashford. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietname War, a retired maintenance leader at Osram Sylvania and a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, where he was also past president of Methodist Men. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and building flatbed trailers.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Bruce (Amber) Ashford of Harrodsburg, Tommy (Debbie) Ashford of Harrodsburg and Allan Ashford of Lexington; two sisters, Joyce (Jim) Gash of Harrodsburg and Becky Tyler of Louisville; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ashford.
Services were conducted Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Owens and Rev. Ken Klemme officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: David, Brian, Erica and Dylan Ashford, Jessica and Brian Thompson, Steve Tyler and Jimmy Gash.

JUDY COULTER
Judy Lynn Carter Coulter, age 61, of Jenkins Lane, Willisburg passed away at 9:21 a.m. Tuesday August 30, 2011 at the Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
A native of Mercer County, she was born on Feb. 13, 1950, to the late J. T. and Jeanetta Page Bailey Carter.
She was a member of the Free Pentecostal Church and an employee of Aryshire Electronics in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: her husband: Billy Frank Coulter, Sr.; two sons, Billy Frank Coulter, Jr. and Harold Thomas Coulter; seven-grandchildren, all of Willisburg
Funeral Services were held at 1 Friday September 2, at the Free Pentecostal Church with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery
at Willisburg.
Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ROBERT GRUBBS
Robert Ray “Bob” Grubbs, age 79 passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011 at his residence.
He was born in Casey Co. on Saturday, January 30, 1932 to the late J.F. and Ruth McWhorter Grubbs Parkerson.
Mr. Grubbs worked in road construction for over 57 years in the local area. If you have driven on a road in Danville, there is a good chance Bob had performed work on it. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the Army as a heavy equipment mechanic. He was a charter member of the Golden Rods Car Club and just a few of his passions in life included fishing and restoring antique cars but his favorite thing to do was build and race go-carts with his grandsons. Mr. Grubbs also built a 1938 Ford pick up truck which will be used in his funeral procession to the cemetery.
Mr. Grubbs is survived by: his wife, Virginia Raney Grubbs of Danville; two daughters, Peggy Patterson Metcalf of Somerset and Kathy (Brad) Grubbs Gilvin of Burgin; four grand children, Bobbie Patterson Haney, Larry Patterson, Rori Timmons, Joshua Gilvin; two great-grand children, Preston Haney and Robert Landon Haney, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Lewis Grubbs and Kenneth Eugene Gubbs.
Services were conducted Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Preston Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Readnour and Bro. Robert Shockley officiating. Burial followed in Bellevue Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Patterson, Joshua Gilvin, Brad Gilvin, Kenny Grubbs, Jeremy Timmons and Doug Haney.
Donations may be made to Heritage Hospice.

ERNEST LANE
Ernest Dale Lane, 67, of Lancaster, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born April 15, 1944 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John Jason and Ruby Reed Lane. He was owner of Lane Dry Walling.
Survivors include: four sisters: Bonnie Woods, Lyda Maupin and Ina Crank, all of Lancaster and Jo Ann Prewitt of Richmond; a brother, Elwood Lane of Lancaster and a fiancee, Rita Rhodus of Lancaster.
Graveside services were conducted Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at the Woods Family Cemetery
in Garrard Co. with Allen Sparks officiating. Arrangements were made by Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

TODD LANHAM
Todd Andre Lanham, 48, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on February 2, 1963 in Lebanon.
Mr. Lanham was retired from the United States Navy, and was a member of the Lebanon Christian Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Lisa Phillips Lanham, of Lebanon; mother, Jean Lanham, of Lebanon; four sons, Mike (Gia) Phillips and Patrick Brady, both of Lebanon, Bob (Katrina) Phillips and Joe Lanham, both of Louisville; one daughter, Andrea (Dustin) Anderson, of Campbellsville; three brothers, Steve Lanham, of Louisville, Greg (Ginny) Lanham, of Lebanon and Kelly (Jill) Lanham, of Mt. Washington; three sisters, Kathy (Jack) Mattingly, of Harrodsburg, Karla (Charley) Combs, of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Karen Lanham, of Campbellsville; three grandchildren, Aiden Phillips, Max Phillips, and Lucas Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert B. Lanham.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon, officiated by Rev. Darren Gillespie. Interment was in Lebanon National Cemetery. military Honors were conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitations will be held after 4 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2011 at the funeral home.

HELEN LAWSON
Helen J. Lawson, 81, Dunnellon, Fla., widow of Marcus A. Lawson, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011 at the Emertius West Hospice Center in Ocala, Fla.
Born May 10, 1930 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Violet Cannon Crews.
She is survived by a son, Vance (Cheryl) Lawson of Dunnellon, Fla.; two grandchildren, Tamara Veisler and Kimberly Fort and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rick Lawson.
Services will be conducted 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 9 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Ray Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Ransdell Chapel.
