VIRGINIA KENNEDY
Virginia Margaret Young Kennedy, 85, of Danville, widow of William Lawrence Kennedy, died Thursday, May 12, 2011.
Born Sept. 24, 1925 in Stanford, she was the daughter of Hugh Reed and Susan Geneva Mae Collins Young.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Geneva (Lannis) Goodlett of Harrodsburg; two sons, Sherman Wesley Collins of Danville and Jack Mason (Beverly) Collins of Elizabethtown; six grandsons: Curtis, Jim, Arthur and Jack Collins and Timothy and James Goodlett; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, May 16 at Stith Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Shockley officiated. Burial was in Bellevue Cemetery.

NANCY SAMS
Nancy Sams, 67, of Harrodsburg, formerly of Versailles and Frankfort, widow of Clayton Sams, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in Harrodsburg.
Born Mach 14, 1944 in Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Allen Bryant and Nila Sue Williams Rowe.
She was a graduate of Pepperdine University. She was a registered nurse and had worked at St. Joseph Hospital and had done private duty nursing.
Survivors include: one daughter, Stacy (Jason) Johnson of Frankfort; three sons, Tony (Sandra) Sams of Frankfort, Danny (Vicki) Sams and Wendell Sams, both of Harrodsburg, 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 14, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Slatten officiating. Burial was in Frankfort Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tony Sams, Danny Sams, Joshua Sams, Tyler Sams, Jared Johnson, and Gavin Johnson.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 208 Steele St., Frankfort, KY 40601.
J. L. ROYALTY
J. L. Royalty, 83, of Willisburg, husband of Martha Holloway Royalty, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.
A native of Washington County, he was born on December 15, 1927 to the late Gudgel Thomas and Lillie Mae Long Royalty.
He was a member of the Mt. Freedom Baptist Church and a retired employee of the International Harvestor Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Gary Royalty of Willisburg; two daughters, Laura (Darrol) Coulter and Stephanie (Jeff) Cloyd, both of Willisburg; a daughter-in-law, Patty Royalty of Bardstown; two sisters, Jean Glidwell of Louisville and Betty McCorkle of Elizabethtown; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Alan Royalty and a brother, Aaron Royalty.
Services were held Saturday, May 14 at the Carey and Son Funeral Home with Rev. John McDaniel and Rev. Jamie Chesser officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Freedom Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jeff Cloyd, Darrol Coulter, Matthew Royalty, Jesse Royalty, Troy Coulter and Michael Thompson.
MARY CUMMINS
Mary Martha “Martye” Brown Cummins, formerly of Harrodsburg, widow of James Edwin Cummins, died May 3, 2011.
Born May 8, 1926 in Duncan, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Nelson Brown and Lilly Sims Brown.
She had worked as an airline reservationist, motel manager and stock clerk. She was a member of the Carmickle Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Marta Maria Cummins Louthan of London; a sister, Pauline Brown Boyles of Harrodsburg; three stepsons: Ed and Johnny Gray Cummins of St. Augustine, FL and Paul Cummins of Harrodsburg; a stepdaughter, Brenda Cummins Bright; three nieces; several great-nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Brown Snyder.
Services were held at the London Funeral Home by the Rev. Jeff Lewis. Graveside services were conducted at Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Louthan, Mark Kopetsky, Greg Cummins, John-Paul Cummins, Matthew Perry and Ed Owens.
RAYMOND HUFF JR.
Raymond “Ray” Huff, Jr., 62, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
Ray was a member of Southside Christian Church, a Gideon, and U S Army veteran. He was a car salesman and former owner of Hometown Motors in Versailles, and Ray Huff Automotive and Consulting Services of Salvisa,
Surviving are: his wife, Lee McSpadden Huff; one daughter, Bethany Caudill, of Versailles; one son, Tony Huff of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Frank Huff of Harrodsburg; one sister, Lynn Howard of AZ; and three grandchildren, Sarah and Ashley Huff, and Olivia Caudill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon, Thursday, May 26, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Robert Warren officiating. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

DARLENE JAMES
Darlene James, 60, of Danville, wife of Donald Ray James, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born February 19, 1951 in Hamilton, OH, she was the daughter of the late Naomi Francis Risen and Sam Carlos.
She was a homemaker, a baptist by faith and enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include two daughters: Donna (Steve) Duncan of Ashland and Dawn James of Danville; two sons: William Carvel (Kathy) Gibson and Randall Johnson; three sisters: Teresa (Lester) Sanders of Stanford, Joann (Doug) Lower and Pam Brooks, both of Cincinnati, OH; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Carlos.
Services were conducted Tuesday, May 24, at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Eldridge officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Randall Johnson, Scott Gibson, Anthony Gibson, Steven James, Michael Johnson, Robert Haney, Bob Haney, Kenny Ward and Clayton Gibson.
DELLA JONES
Della Ezetta Jones, 75, Harrodsburg, widow of Delbert Martin Jones Sr., died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born October 27, 1935 in McMinnville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Georgie Mae Jones Jaco.
She was a retired seamstress at Cricketeer Manufacturing and a member of the Cornishville Baptist Church.
Survivors include: a daughter, Brenda J. Coleman of Lexington; two sons, Delbert Pete and David Jones of Harrodsburg; a sister, Virginia Doris Curry of Detroit, MI; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Hunter Lee “Trey” Coleman and two great-granddaughters, Emma Lee Hall and Gentry Sue Crawley.
Graveside services were held Saturday, May 21 at the Hillcrest Cemetery
in Perryville with Paul Readnour officiating.

LEON MEEKS JR.
Leon Gray Meeks, Jr., 87, widower of Eva Irene Cummins Meeks, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at his residence.
Born February 6, 1924 in Axson, GA, he was the son of the late Leon Gray and Fannie Mae Starling Meeks, Sr.
He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, a member of Mercer Masonic Lodge #777 F&AM, retired from IBM, a member of Meadowthorpe Presbyterian Church and enjoyed playing solitaire and bridge.
He is survived by a daughter, Sherry G. Wright of Georgetown; two brothers: George Meeks of Gainesville, FL and Jimmy Meeks of Mandarin, FL; five sisters: Mabel Efthim of St. Louis, MO, Helen Taylor of Jacksonville, FL, Marian Booth of Waycross, GA, Lynette Wallace of Jacksonville, FL and Ann Williams of Gainesville, FL; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Eddie Meeks and a sister, Mary Emily Cummins.
Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home. Burial with military Honors will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Donald Gray Wright, Eric Wright, Van Wiley, Joe Burgin, Matt Perry and John Paul Cummins.
Honorary pallbearers are: Jim Bright, Brett Bright, Eddie Cummins, Thomas Lee Cummins, Wendell Grider, Andy Efthim, George Meeks, Paul Cummins, Paul Sturgill and Glenn Greathouse.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
MARY YATES
Mary D. Yates, 98, of Indianapolis, IN, widow of Alonzo Maurice Yates, died May 17, 2011.
Born June 9, 1912 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Susie Comingo VanDiver.
She was a member of Indianapolis Baptist Temple.
She is survived by three sons: Jerry (Sharon) Yates of Sagle, ID, Cecil (Teri) Yates of Westminster, CA and Timothy (Carol) Yates of Indianapolis, IN; three daughters: Sue Shelby of Indianapolis, IN, Judith (Roger) Brown of Greenwood, IN and Kathleen (Russell) Wilson of Floresville, TX; a sister-in-law, Ruby VanDiver of Burgin; thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil R. VanDiver.
Services were conducted Friday, May 20 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, Indianapolis, IN. Burial was in Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, Mercer County.
BEATRICE ALLENDER
Beatrice Eloise Allender, 83, formerly of Harrodsburg, widow of William Robert Allender, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Montgomery Care Center, Cincinnati, OH.
Born September 25, 1927 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Beatrice Linney Wright. She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane (David) Dinsmore and Rita (Michael) Collini of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Robert Russell Wright of Lebanon, OH; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 28 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Ken Klemme officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Shriner’s Children Hospital.
JAMES BELCHER
James Evans Belcher, 71, of Burgin, husband of Mary Ann Syrowski Belcher, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at his residence.
Born August 8, 1939 in Pike County, he was the son of the late Bernie Bunch and Dixie Hackney Belcher Mathney. He retired from General Motors after 30 years. He was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church and enjoyed working, farming and NASCAR.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James Scott Belcher of Burgin; a daughter, Denise Lyn Belcher of Georgetown; a sister, Geniva Hylton of Elkhorn City and two grandchildren: Mikaio and Mayelia Salizar, both of Georgetown.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Oral Belcher and a sister, Ann Ray Bartley.
Services were conducted Sunday, May 29 at the Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Melcher officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery
in Amherst, OH.
James Scott Belcher and Josh Wayman served as pallbearers.
