Carl W. Biddle
CALDWELL -- Carl W. Biddle, 74, of Caldwell, died Thursday,Dec. 23, 2004.
He was born June 2, 1930.
He had been employed as a floor sweeper with Koch Engineering.
Survivors include a niece, Vivian Randall of Caldwell.
A Private family service is being planned.
Gale Ketchum
Gale Ketchum, 81 of Argonia,retired City of Wichita, Kan., police department cabinet maker and former owner of the Argonia Cafe died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 26, 2004, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born the son of Issac Ketchum and Irene (Stuart) Ketchum in Kansas City, Mo.
Gale was hired by Wichita police department as a cabinet maker to teach prisoners the craft. He was responsible for many different Cabinetry projects for the City of Wichita and the Argonia Community Center. In addition to cabinets he handcrafted violins and guitars. He was truly a craftsman. Gale also had a natural green thumb and loved to grow tomatoes. He would supply his friends and neighbors with the red fruit of the vine.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister Ruby Main.
Survivors include his son Gary Ketchum and his wife Kyla of Wichita; daughter Shirley Noah and her husband Marvin of Wichita; half brothers Isaac Ketchum of Independence, Mo., Wilbur Benham of Tucson, Ariz. and Robert Benham of Loveland, Co.; half sisters Sally Mae Evans of Independence, Mo and Joanna Thurber of Chanute, Kan.; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Gale will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2004 at the Floyd Chapel located in the Argonia Cemetery
in Argonia, Kansas. Pastor Lora Byers of the River of Life Church in Wichita will officiate.
A memorial has been established in his name and loving memory with the Argonia Community Center, 114 West Walnut, Argonia, KS 67004. Contributions may be mailed or left at the funeral home.

CONWAY SPRINGS --Mary M. Pauly, 97, of Conway Springs, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at Conway Springs.
A Rosary is planned for 7 p.m. today (Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs.
Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004 also at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Springs.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Virginia R. Stromberg
WINFIELD -- Virginia R. Stromberg, 89 of Winfield, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004 in a Winfield hospital.
She was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Lincoln County, Kan., the daughter of Thomas and Maria Lydia (Meili) Lyne.
She was raised in Lincoln and married Dr. Frank Stromberg on Oct. 7, 1936 in Lincoln.
They resided in Kingman from 1936 until 1939.
They then moved to Caldwell where she assisted her husband in his medical practice until their retirement in 1975.
He preceded her in death on May 1, 1991. She continued living in Caldwell until nine years ago when she moved to Winfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters Doris VanPelt and Gladys Markley.
Survivors include her brother V. T. "Bud" Lyne of Salina, Kan., and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in Hawks Funeral Home, Wellington, with interment in Sumner Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home on today (Tuesday) from 4 to 8p.m., and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until service time.
Friends may contribute in Virginia's memory to the memorial of their choice.
Bruce A. Neal
Bruce A. Neal, 69, of Arkansas City died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at the William Newton Hospital in Winfield.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004) at the First United Methodist Church of Arkansas City. Interment followed in the Riverview Cemetery.
Born April 29, 1935, in Caldwell, Bruce was the son of William Howard and Thelma Marie (Fisk) Neal.
Bruce grew up and attended school in Caldwell, graduating in 1952. On Aug. 22, 1954, Bruce married Donna Larson in Caldwell where they made their home until moving to Arkansas City in 1957.
Bruce worked for Republic Supply in Arkansas City and later for Wilson Supply in Oklahoma City.
Bruce enjoyed remodeling old cars. He loved the outdoors, especially his garden and swimming with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Glenda Walker of Arkansas City and Brenda Ott of Oklahoma City; son-in-laws, Bruce Endorf of Arkansas City; two brothers, Bob Neal and his wife, Eva, and Bill Neal and his wife, Georgia, all of Caldwell; two sisters, Beverly Covey of Caldwell and Bonita Hays and her husband, Jim of Wellington; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three brother in-laws, Lars Larson, Jack Larson and Chris Larson and his wife, Deana, all of Arkansas City; and two sister in-laws, Arlene Bates and her husband, Jim or Arkansas City and Linda Williams and her husband, Terry of Oxford.
Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; parents; and daughter, Rhonda Endorf.
Memorials have been established with the Ark City Tumbleweeds, American Heart Association, Lupus Foundation, and the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
Nina L. Bergman
Nina L. Bergman, 68, of Braman, Okla., died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Rose Hill Cemetery
in South Haven.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: two sons, Melvin L. Bergman of Braman and Loren L. Bergman of South Haven; a daughter, Dana M. Johnson of perry, Okla.; six brothers, Eugene Basinger of Milan, Bob Basinger of Oklahoma City, Okla, Harold Basinger of Oklahoma City, Tom Basinger of Fairbanks, Alaska, Edward Basinger of Mission, Kan., and Steve Basinger of Belle Plaine; a sister, Linda Synder of Wichita; and seven grandchildren and two-step grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.

William F. Sawyer
William F. "Bill" Sawyer 80, of Oxford, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004. Funeral Mass will be Monday, Jan. 3,2005 at 10 a.m., in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Oxford. Interment will be in Oxford Cemetery.
Bill was born Jan 22, 1924, in Pratt. He attended Wellington schools. He served in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. He then returned to Oxford and later moved to Denver where he was manager of a plumbing supply house. He returned to Oxford in 1980 and was employed by the Oxford school system in the maintenance and custodial department until his retirement in 1989.
Bill and Letha Chrisman were married Aug. 9, 1990 in the Oxford Methodist Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerry and Russell and step-grandson Aaron Ternes.
Survivors include his wife Letha of Oxford; sons Charles and Torn of Wichita, Marvin of Bowling Green, Ky., and Mike of Halstead; his step-sons Rick Chrisman of Sedan and Tommy Chrisman of Pueblo, Colo.; step-daughter Karen Ternes of Oxford; brothers, Jack, Richard and Kenneth, all of Oxford and Don of Medford, Okla.; his sisters, Pat Ostrander and Betty Witte of Oxford; 10 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Oxford Funeral Service where friends may call on Sunday from 1 until 8 p.m.
Ernest Eugene Whitley
Ernest Eugene Whitley, 89, passed away at his home in Wellington early Thursday morning, Dec. 30, 2004.
He was a farmer and a former employee of Welco, Precision Machines and Aircraft Welders in Wichita.
Born in Riverdale, Kan., Nov, 28, 1915, Ernest was a life resident of Sumner County. He was the son of Joseph B. and Fern (Kibbe) Whitley.
He married Iris Knox Feb. 28, 1942 in South Haven. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in February.
Ernest served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Wellington Church of Christ where he had served as an Elder for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Forest Whitley and one sister, Betty Shepherd.
Survivors include his wife Iris of the home in Wellington; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Dorothy Whitley of Oklahoma City, Okla., John and Debra Whitley of Albuquerque, N.M. and David and Deanna Whitley of Stillwater, Okla., one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Leon Shoemaker of Wellington; grandchildren; Cynthia Paige and her husband, Bill, Brad Whitley, Tamera Newberry and her husband, Byron, Sandi Shoemaker, Suzanne Shoemaker, Steven Shoemaker and his wife, Jama, Scott Whitley and his wife, Angie, Staci Booker and her husband, Jeff, Barry Whitley and his wife, Christina, Dixon Whitley and his wife, Dasha, Rebecca Whitley and Jack Thoms; 10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Esther Pearson of Derby.
Funeral services will be held at the Wellington Church of Christ at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 with Paul Hendrickson officiating. Military graveside services and interment will follow in Sumner Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Memorial donations can be mailed or left at the funeral home. Friends may call at the Frank Funeral Home on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. Frank Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
