T. LOUISE CAVIN
Thelma "Louise" Cavin, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at her residence in Liberal.
She was born May 11, 1918, to Lester and Rhoda Ann (Greenway) Ward in Pratt.
She married Corwin Grant "Bus" Cavin Sept. 7, 1940, in Treece. He died Nov. 26, 1995.
She had been a Liberal resident since 1962, moving from Pratt.
She was a homemaker.
Her hobbies included cooking, collecting bells, doing needlepoint, reading books and spending time with her family.
Survivors include one son, Corwin Grant Cavin, Jr., Wichita; six daughters, Jean Howell, Rockport, Texas, Suzan Byron, Liberal, Donna Wilson, Enid, Okla., Kathy Stephens, Liberal, Ann Porterfield, and Patty Cavin, both of Balko, Okla.; one brother, George Ward, Newport News, Va.; one brother-in-law, Ed Swart, Denver, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Joe L. Cavin; two brothers, Victor Bowlby and Richard Bowlby; and four sisters, Lillian Peak, Rose Swart, Daisy Gross and Jennie Studer.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with Warren Wilson, II presiding.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

BARBARA MEADE
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Barbara Meade, 62, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, in San Antonio.
She was born June 19, 1940, to Bennie and Pauline Simon in Beaver, Okla.
She married Robert E. Mead in 1964. He survives.
She was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in San Antonio. She was a former member of Sweet Adeline's and sang in the church choir.
Other survivors include two sons, Mark Meade, Oklahoma City, and Mike Mead and wife, Carey, Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Anita Simon, Houston, Texas; and five grandchildren, Meagan Mead, Ryan Mead, Nathan Mead, Landry Mead and Riley Mead.
Funeral services were Saturday at St. Matthews United Methodist Church in San Antonio.
Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery
in San Antonio.
Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio was in charge of arrangements.
RAMSOM BURNES
Ransom "Buster" Burnes, 80, Liberal, died Thursday, August 29, 2002, at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation in Wichita.
He was born Feb. 5, 1922, to John W. and Matilda J. (Bryant) Burnes in Webber Falls, Okla.
He married Hazel Frost Jan. 20, 1940, in Stigler, Okla. She survives.
He had been a longtime resident of Liberal. He retired from National Beef.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Liberal.
Other survivors include three sons, David R. Burnes, Hampton, Va., Donald C. Burnes, Dumas, Texas, and Randy L. Burnes, Dallas; one daughter, J. Kaye Hansen, Wichita; 11 grandchildren, Dwayne Burnes, Jeff Burnes, Gregg Burnes, Jeremy Burnes, Michael Burnes, Joanne Posey, Cheryl Knous, Keena Campbell, Kara Hansen, Kevin Hansen, and David Hansen.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God Church in Liberal with the Rev. Jack Wilson presiding.
Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. today and 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

CHARLES P. DAKAN
MEADE Charles P. "Buster" Dakan, 77, died August 30. 2002, at his home in Meade.
He born Sept. 19, 1924, to Otis and Mary Jane (Boggess) Dakan in Savannah, Mo.
He married Verna Lee Sexton Aug. 20, 1949, in Perryton, Texas. She survives.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a life member of the VFW Post No. 1714 of Dodge City.
He retired in 1982 after 30 years as a pipeline serviceman with Michigan-Wisconsin Pipeline Co.
He had been a resident of Meade since 1947.
Other survivors include two sons, Terry Dakan and Mike Dakan, both of Meade; two daughters, Debbie Schartz, Hugoton, and Kathy Savage, Huntington Beach, Calif.; three sisters, Gwen Dakan, Stanberry, Mo., Eva Gilmour and Katherine Halloran, both of Savannah; and four grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Graceland Cemetery
in Meade with the Rev. Harry Fink presiding.
Cremation has already taken place.
Memorials are suggested to the Meade District Hospital Special Equipment Fund or the Beam Senior Center, both in care of Fidler-Orme Mortuary, 212 S. Fowler, Meade, KS 67864.
JOHN PETRILLI
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. John Petrilli, 53, died Saturday, August 17, 2002, in Hilton, N.Y.
He was born Dec. 23, 1948, to John and Rose Petrilli in Rochester, N.Y.
He married Michelle Malin. She survives.
He was attending a class reunion in Hilton.
Other survivors include one son, John Michael and one daughter, Marissa, both of the home; John Malin and wife, Beverly, and brother-in-law Randy Malin and wife, Janis, all of Liberal; and sister-in-law Valerie Malin Mardick and husband, Bruce, Longmont, Colo.

MARVIN E. BURTSFIELD
Marvin E. Burtsfield, 84, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Hendricks County Hospital in Danville, Ind.
He was born Oct. 8, 1917, to Edward E. and Jennie (Haffner) Burtsfield in Haviland.
He married Faun French July 1, 1940, in Minneola. She died Dec. 17, 2001.
He grew up in the Haviland community and graduated from Haviland High School.
He moved to Liberal in 1940. In 1946, he began a 35-year career with National Helium. He retired in 1981.
Survivors include one son, Tom Burtsfield and wife, Connie, Danville, Ind.; one daughter, Pamela Miller, Lawrence; one sister-in-law, Virginia French, Wichita; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal with the Rev. Stephen Saville presiding.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

JAMES CREAMER
MANTER -- James "Jay" Creamer, 82, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at his home in Manter.
He was born April 3, 1920, to Delbert Creamer and Frances (Curl) Creamer Buhrer in Treece.
He married Velda "Butch" Von Hemel Feb. 19, 1940, in Ulysses. She survives.
He was a resident of Manter since 1927.
He was a farmer and rancher and a past recipient of the Kansas Bankers Award for conservation. He was also a car salesman, school bus driver and ran the Manter swimming pool.
Other survivors include one daughter, Loretta Bearce and husband, Vernon, Johnson; one brother, Rich Creamer, Pahrump, Nev.; one sister, Madge Pryor; four grandchildren, Paige and husband, Brian, Angie and husband, Allen, Becki and husband, Gary, and Chris Bearce; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Creamer and Carl Creamer.
Memorial services were at 10 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Manter with the Rev. Kevin Seuser presiding.
A private family inurnment was at Stanton County Cemetery
in Johnson.
