ROGER D. HERIFORD
Roger D. Heriford, 52, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at his home in Liberal.
He was born March 20, 1950, to Philip J. "Moon" and Rowena (Morehouse) Heriford in Liberal.
He graduated from Liberal High school and later from Wichita State University.
His hobbies included watching Oklahoma University Sooner football.
Survivors include one son, Nathan Heriford, Wichita; one daughter, Heather Heriford, Wichita; two brothers, Rod Heriford, Las Vegas, and Phil Heriford, Haysville; his mother, of Liberal; and one grandchild, Seaven Schrarie.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the home of Jeanie, Heather and Nathan Heriford, 8149 E. Boston, Wichita.
Cremation has already taken place.
Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal is in charge of arrangements.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Fred Hansen "Cookie" Baker Jr., 54, Kansas City, formerly of Hugoton, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City.
Cremation has already taken place. Graveside services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.
LOIS A. WILLIAMS
EUREKA Lois Audene Williams, 78, Eureka, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at Madison Manor in Eureka.
She was born June 5, 1924, to Floyd P. and Ruby L. (Rimmer) Knizley in Topeka.
She married Hiram T. Williams Sept. 18, 1945, in Wichita. He survives.
She moved with her family to Eureka in 1934, where she graduated in 1943 from Eureka High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church.
Other survivors include one son, F. Patrick Williams, Eureka; one daughter, Shirley Cox, Liberal; two sisters, Helen Gull, Glenpool, Okla., and Dorothy Hubbard, Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. today at Greenwood Cemetery
in Eureka with the Pastor Jeff Ungs presiding.

AMPARO GUARDIOLA
Amparo Guardiola, 55, Liberal, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at St. Anthony Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born July 30, 1946, to Rafael and Josefina (Ostos) Medrano in Saucillo, Chihuahua, Mexico.
She married Jesus Guardiola April 5, 1964, in Saucillo. He survives.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.
Other survivors include four daughters, Cecilia Olave Guardiola, El Paso, Texas, Yolanda Silva Guardiola, Lorena Chavez Guardiola, and Celia Guardiola, all of Liberal; six brothers, Inocente Medrano, Manuel Medrano, Julian Medrano, Armando Medrano, Rafael Medrano, and Edgar Medrano; three sisters, Ofelia Medrano, Margarita Medrano, and Estefana Medrano; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Jesus Guardiola and Guadalupe Carlos Guardiola.
Rosary will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Anthony Catholic Church (First and Prospect) with the Father Patrick Keyes presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. today until service time Sunday at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

WILLIAM D. CANNON
William D. "Bill" Cannon, 36, Liberal, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, from injuries he received in a pipeline accident.
He was born April 4, 1966, in Liberal to Lonnie and Dixie "Frazier" Cannon.
He married Patricia Ditton April 1, 2001, in Elko, Nev. She survives.
He grew up and went to school in Tyrone, Okla., graduating with the class of 1984.
He served four years in the United States Army, during which time he was stationed in the Sinai Peninsula and Honduras.
Survivors include his parents, of Tyrone; one son, Stephen Cannon, and one daughter, Brionne Cannon, both of Liberal; one brother, Craig Cannon, Wichita; three sisters, Carrie Cannon, Wichita, Jeannie Cannon, Tyrone and Becky Tovar, Garden City; former wife, Paula Cannon, Liberal; nine nieces and nephews, one grandnephew and one grandniece.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Frazier; and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cannon.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Tyrone Baptist Church in Tyrone, with the Rev. Chad Rhoades presiding.
Burial will be at the Tyrone Cemetery
under the direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Okla.
MABEL M. BIRMINGHAM
MEADE -- Mabel Mae Birmingham, 90, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at the Meade District Hospital in Meade.
She was born Oct. 29, 1911, to William Frederick and Beuna Vesta (Spalding) Wettstein in Stevens County.
She married Ted C. Birmingham Jan. 9, 1948, in Virginia City, Nev. He died March 18, 1997.
She attended school in Liberal, graduating with the class of 1929.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at Boles Implement of Liberal and Dodge City following her graduation from high school.
She moved from Liberal in 1938. She moved to Meade in 1995.
Survivors include one nephew, Wayne Wettstein, Liberal; and four nieces, Norma Jean Isaacs, Liberal, Sophia Majors, Lexington, Ky., Roberta Owen, Durham, N.C., and Ruth Fawcett, Liberal.
She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one nephew.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no service held at this time.

HELEN L. LAWDER
Helen L. "Grandma Daisy" Lawder, 89, died Sunday, June 24, 2002, at her home in Liberal.
She was born Dec. 18, 1912, to Alton I. and Anna S. (Lieser) Williams in Texas County, Okla.
She married Albert W. Lawder Jan. 20, 1934, in Optima, Okla. He died Aug. 29, 1969.
She graduated from the Eureka School in Baker, Okla., in 1931.
She was a longtime Liberal resident.
She was the Seward County Deputy Appraiser until her retirement in 1979.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist.
She was a member of the Pythian Sisters Lodge, Mother Singers and BPW.
Survivors include one son, Richard Joe Lawder and wife, Peggy, Turpin, Okla.; two grandchildren, Laura Lawder Estes and husband, Bryan, Turpin, Okla., and Andrew A. Lawder and wife, Robin, Liberal; and one great-grandchild, Maegan, Lawder.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Dale Elmer Williams.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal with Judy Barnes presiding.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at the Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

MARTHA R. NODINE
ULYSSES -- Martha R. Nodine, 84, died Friday, June 21, 2002, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
She was born April 16, 1918, to Oscar T. and Mary Frances (Burk) Hainer in Kiowa County, Colo.
She married Clyde Eugene Nodine Jan. 2, 1937, in Las Animas, Colo. He died June 25, 1987.
She had been a Ulysses resident since 1952.
She was a farm wife and a homemaker.
She attended the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses.
Her hobbies included horse racing, playing bingo and cards.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jane Young and husband, Leon, Ulysses; one son, Loren D. Nodine, Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Elaine Monson; two brothers, one sister and two infant siblings.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with Dr. Max Clayton presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
