GWENDOLYN F. MEIER
Gwendolyn "Gwen" R. Meier, 59, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo.
She was born Sept. 5, 1942, to Ezra C. and Edlee (Valentine) Tittle in Hobart, Okla.
She married Larry D. Meier May 27, 1967, in Liberal. He survives.
She was a 1960 graduate of Liberal High School in Liberal.
She had been a long-time resident of Liberal.
She had worked in the banking industry for many years, and had recently been working as a para with IRC at Sunflower Intermediate School.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.
Other survivors include one son, Michael Meier and Crystal, Lawrence; two daughters, Laura Elliot and husband, Edwin, Liberal, and Stephanie Scott and husband, Nelson, Pleasant Valley, Mo.; four sisters, Marie Reid, Cassville, Mo., Janice Williams, Mountainburg, Ark., Sondra Carson, Mulberry, Ark., and Linda Pelzel, Hays; six grandchildren, Heather Elliot, Meagan Elliot, Brittany Elliot, Joshua Scott, Jacob Scott and Meadow Meier; and mother-in-law, Genevieve Meier, Liberal.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant daughter, Kari.
Vigil services will be at 6 p.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Father Patrick A. Keyes presiding.
Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call until 5 p.m. today at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

DEBORAH K. KAUP
TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. -- Deborah K. (Long) Kaup, 42, formerly of Liberal, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at her home in Twentynine Palms.
She was born Feb. 22, 1960, to Ivan L. and Lela (Parkins) Long in Liberal.
She grew up in the Liberal community and graduated from Southwestern Heights High School in rural Kismet.
She served in the United States Army for two years.
She worked in civil service as affairs coordinator for nine years in San Diego and the past four years in Twentynine Palms.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Kaup, Liberal; one daughter, Marisa Kaup, Twentynine Palms; her mother, Lela Tineall, Lubbock, Texas; her grandmother, Ireta Long, Liberal; one brother, Mike Long and wife, Wanda, Vacaville, Calif.; one sister, Lori Hunt and husband, David, Liberal; and one granddaughter, Savannah Kaup.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Miller Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. John Andrews presiding.
Miller Mortuary in Liberal is in charge of arrangements.
MARLA J. BIRNEY
WICHITA -- Marla Janyne Birney, 47, died Sunday, March 17, 2002.
She had been a resident of Wichita, and she was a registered nurse.
Survivors include her parents, Robert and Marcille Birney of Liberal; three brothers, Milan Birney, Satanta, and Marc Birney and Max Birney, both of Sublette; and one sister, Marita Hampton, Clarksville, Ark.
Private services have already taken place.
DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary in Wichita was in charge of arrangements.
WILLIE L. JENNINGS
MOSCOW -- Willie Lee Jennings, 86, died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at her home in Moscow.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
LULA M. LOVE
Lula M. Love, 65, Liberal, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Liberal Good Samaritan Center in Liberal.
She was born Oct. 14, 1936, to Jack and Arzenia (King) Johnson in Dumas, Ark.
She married Pat Love April 1, 1972, in Clayton, N.M. He died June 30, 2001.
She graduated from Lake Providence, La., High School.
She moved to Liberal in 1959 and worked at the Warren Hotel. She was a dietician at Southwest Medical Center, and later worked at the A&W for 10 years.
She was a member of the Community Missionary Baptist Church in Liberal.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis Love, Dodge City, and Rodney Love and wife, Wanda, Liberal; one daughter, Doris Johnson, Pine Bluff, Ark.; one step-son, Frank Love and wife, Rose, Brownsville, Tenn.; five step-daughters, Martha Ann Love, Ripley, Tenn., Jorleen Love, Salley Mae Love, Lula Mae Love and Shirley Love, all of Hennings, Tenn.; four brothers, the Rev. Jessie Johnson and wife, Marilyn, Dumas, the Rev. LeRoy Johnson and wife, Barbara, Kansas City, Kans., Frank Johnson, Liberal, and Ivory Johnson, Jefferson City, Mo.; four sisters, Edith Keys, Kansas City, Ollie V. Williams and husband, the Rev. B.D., and Jacquline Johnson and husband, Lawrence L., all of Liberal, and Ida Grays and husband, Charles, Los Angeles; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Missionary Baptist Church in Liberal with the Revs. A.H. Smith Jr. and B.D. Williams presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until noon Wednesday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
LOUIE R. PIPKIN
Louie Randal Pipkin, 87, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Dec. 27, 1914, in Forgan, Okla.
He married Penna Vesta Carter Jan. 22, 1951. She died Feb. 27, 2001.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He had been a resident of Liberal since 1952.
Survivors include one son, John Randal Pipkin, Liberal; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Forgan Cemetery
in Forgan with Rex Petty presiding.
Clark Funeral Service in Beaver, Okla., is in charge of arrangements.
RALPH O. CUTTER
HUGOTON -- Ralph Orville Cutter, 89, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton.
He was born Aug. 18, 1912, to William I. and Irene (Morrison) Cutter in Hoyt.
He married Elizabeth Brady March 16, 1940, in Liberty, Mo. She died Dec. 31, 1973.
He married Maurine Fields Cox Jan. 5, 1975, in Hugoton. She survives.
He had been a resident of Hugoton since 1913.
He was a farmer and taught at country schools in Stevens County. He also taught for several years in Liberal.
He graduated from Panhandle State University with a bachelor's of science degree in education in 1931.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Hugoton.
Other survivors include one son, David Cutter, Hugoton; two step-sons, Otis Cox, Austin, Texas, and Neal Cox, Reed Springs, Mo.; one daughter, Florence Metcalf, Hugoton; one step-daughter, Myra Hostetter, Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, Paul Cutter, Boise City, Okla.; one sister, Ruth I. Smith, Hugoton; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Daisy Cutter and Faith Stone.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Jeff Aenk presiding.
Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.

VIOLET E. DETTMER
Violet E. Dettmer, 89, Liberal, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Miller Mortuary.
WILLIE L. JENNINGS
MOSCOW -- Willie Lee Jennings, 86, died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at her home in Moscow.
She was born March 5, 1916, to Lee A. and Clarice E. (Jennings) Shepherd in Yellowbush County, Miss.
She married Ellis "Tite" Jennings Dec. 6, 1941, in Tupalo, Okla. He died May 23, 1986.
She moved to Stonewall, Okla., in 1916 and graduated from Stonewall High School in 1934.
In 1950, she moved to Hart, Texas, and later to Moscow in 1959.
She was a member of the Baptist Church in Jessie, Okla. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Moscow.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Jennings and wife, Barbara, Houston, and Doyle Jennings, Kismet; three brothers, Mervin Shepherd and wife, Gladys, and Donald Shepherd and wife, Dixie, all of Oklahoma City, and Travis Shepherd and wife, Jo, Moore, Okla.; six grandchildren, Barb Ryan, Jason Jennings, Jeff Jennings, Donnie Jennings, Dennis Jennings and Brad Hopper; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla Ryan, Cody Ryan, Brittney Ryan, Katie Ryan, Kylie Ryan, Cory Ryan, Sheree Ryan and Dru Schott; and one great-great-grandchild, Bechany Schott.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Moscow with the Rev. Bill Ripley presiding.
Burial will be at Moscow Cemetery
in Moscow.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8-11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
