ROBERT M. DEWOLFE
AMARILLO, Texas -- Robert M. DeWolfe, 83, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at his home in Amarillo.
He was born Nov. 26, 1918, in Kansas City, Mo.
He married Violet Heitschmidt Jan. 31, 1942, in Canyon, Texas. She survives.
He was raised in Guymon, Okla.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and served during World War II in Africa and in Europe as a member of the Military Police Battalion 766. He was discharged in 1945.
After being discharged from the Army, he moved to Amarillo and worked for Furr Food. He retired in 1981 after 35 years.
He was a member of the Washington Avenue Christian Church in Amarillo.
Other survivors include one daughter, Raymona J. Longanecker and husband, Dr. Ronald M., Amarillo; one brother, Rev. Paul DeWolfe and wife, Marguriete, Dumas, Texas; three grandchildren, Travis L. Longanecker and wife, Kristi R., Perryton, Texas, Jameson T. Longanecker and wife, Tamra R., Amarillo, and Katherine Brooke Wilson and husband, Clinton, Seattle; and two great-grandchildren, Christian Cole Longanecker and Hattie B. Longanecker, both of Perryton.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at N.S. Griggs and Sons Pioneer Chapel in Amarillo with the Rev. Paul DeWolfe presiding.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery
in Amarillo.

DARLENE M. DICKSON
LAKIN -- Darlene M. Dickson, 61, Lakin, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
She was born July 2, 1940, to Sylvister T. and Opal M. (Dunsworth) Hildreth Oliver in Ulysses.
She married Robert C. Dickson Nov. 29, 1959, in Ulysses. He died July 6, 2000.
She was a cosmetologist and owned and operated Darlene's La Boutique in Lakin from 1970 to 1978.
She had been a resident of Lakin since 1959.
She was a member of Easter Star, Kansas Cosmetology Association and was a former 4-H leader.
Her hobbies included bowling.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Dickson and wife, Holcomb; two daughters, Kim Ansel and husband, Ivan, Kersey, Colo., and Judy Dickson, Garden City; two brothers, Elmer Oliver, Dayton, Texas, Leland Oliver, Houston; two sisters, Betty Brent, Ulysses, Velda Holsten, Ensign; her step-father, James Hildreth, Ulysses; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Chastin Seth Jessee.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lakin Wesleyan Church in Lakin with the Rev. Jeff Lee presiding.
Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery
in Lakin.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin.

OLIVER S. BROWN
AMARILLO, Texas. Oliver S. Brown, 96, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, in Amarillo.
He was born July 9, 1905, to Miller and Anna (Olson) Brown in Mullinville.
He moved to Kismet at age 8, with his parents and grandfather, Mads Olsen, in a covered wagon.
He graduated from Kismet High School and attended both Kansas State University and the University of Kansas. He then taught school and became the principal at the Kismet School.
In 1936, he was elected to Seward County Treasurer.
He worked for John W, Baughman and later becam general manager of Baughman Farms Co. He was the founder of the Baughman Foundation.
In 1961, he co-founded the Seward County Historical Society.
He was past vice president of the National Wheat Growers Association, and was honored as the Outstanding Realtor in Kansas in 1949. He opened Mr. B's Real Estate.
He was a member of the Lion's Club, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Kansas Royalty Owners Association.
He had a part in the start of Dorthy's House and the Seward County Museum.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Liberal.
He was a long-time resident of Liberal.
He moved to Amarillo because of health to live with his daughter.
Survivors include one son, Norman Jack Brown, Mission; two daughters, Beverly Brown Davey, Amarillo, and Dr. Victoria Wyatt, Annandale, Va.; one brother, Bill Brown, Fountain Hills, Ariz.; two sisters, Frances Wacker, Yreka, Calif., and Virginia West, Yuma, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 18 nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Ada Rose Brown in 1937, and Doris Thompson Brown in 1982; one daughter, Judith Kay Clouston in 1996; and two sisters, Pauline Hand and Ruth Harned.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Kismet Cemetery
in Kismet.
Burial will take place at Kismet Cemetery
in Kismet.
The family suggests memorials to either the Oliver S. Brown Scholarship Fund for a Liberal High School student in agriculture in care of First National Bank of Liberal, Box 1217, Liberal, KS 67905, or the First United Methodist Church youth program, Liberal, KS 67901.
Arrangements are being handled by Schooler Funeral Home, Amarillo.
ANA MARIA MENDEZ
Ana Maria Mendez, 59, Liberal, died Saturday, Jan, 19, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
NOEL L. HILLIS
Noel "Leonard" Hillis, 87, Liberal, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born December 29, 1914, to Arthur and Laura (Redding) Hillis.
He married Naomi Woodrum July 13, 1938 in Fresno, Calif. She survives.
He was a longtime resident of Liberal, and retired from Northern Natural Gas.
Other survivors include one son, Gary Hillis, Wichita; four brothers, Edgar Hillis, Arkansas., Cecil Hillis, Georgia, Thurman Hillis, Texas, and Jerry Hillis, California; two sisters, Estelle Rosenbaum, California, and Marvelle Hill, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Norman Hillis; one brother, Olin Hillis; and two sisters, Floy Olive, and Geraldine Brown.
A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. Andrew Wehling presiding.
Cremation has already taken place. A private family inurnment will be held.

OLIVE L. DAVIS
ELKHART Olive Leta Davis, 96, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002 at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
She was born Sept. 29, 1905, to Robert O. and Roxie (Miller) Quigley in El Reno, Okla.
She married Bonnie Thompson Oct. 1, 1937 in Boise CIty, Okla. He died Oct. 8, 1958.
She married R.K. Davis July 30, 1960 in Clayton, N.M. He died Sept. 22, 1964.
She had been a resident of Elkhart since 1960, and was a teacher at public school. She later became a county extension home economist.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Social Order of Beauceant in Liberal, the Morton County Hospital Auxiliary, the Morton County Extension Unit, the Morton County Historical Society, and an honorary member of the Morton County Fair Board.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include two step-daughters, Mary Jane Butner, Huntsville, Ala., and Judith Ann Sheperd, Tallahassee, Fla.; one brother, Merle Quigley, El Reno; one sister, Pearl Forbes, Elkhart; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Elkhart with the Rev. Ken Van presiding.
Burial will take place at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Harrell Funeral Home in Elkhart.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Roden E. "Jonesie" Jones, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
