RUBY M. UNRUH
COPELAND -- Ruby Minnie Unruh, 74, Tonasket, Wash., formerly of Copeland, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at North Valley Hospital in Tonasket.
She was born April 27, 1927, to Sam L. and Katherine B. (Mininger) Fricke in Lansing, Mich.
She married Cecil Unruh Jan. 28, 1945, in Cimarron. He survives.
She moved to the Copeland area as a young girl.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Copeland.
Other survivors include four sons, Galen Unruh and wife, Sharon, Galva, Stanley Unruh and wife, Jerra, Sedan, N.M., Steve Unruh and wife, Karen, and Richard Unruh and wife, Lana, all of Copeland; one daughter, Jolene Koehn and husband, Dennis, Texline, Texas; two brothers, Sam L. Fricke Jr. and wife, Sandy, Ontario, Canada, and Obed Maynard Fricke, Montezuma; six sisters, Annabel Smith, Salem, Ore., Gertrude J. Unruh and husband, Leslie, Copeland, Mary Friesen and husband, George, Cumberland, Wis., Johanna Schmidt and husband, Earl, El Campo, Texas, Helen Koehn and husband, Ervie, Ingalls, and Clara Koehn and husband, Barton, Montezuma; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ruth Friesen.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Salem Mennonite Church in Copeland with the Ministers Wayne Amoth, Sam Unruh and Verle Yost presiding.
Burial will be at the Salem Mennonite Cemetery
in Copeland.
Friends may call from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday at Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.

MARY T. SMITH
Johnson -- Mary Thelma Smith, 89, Johnson, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson.
She was born March 2, 1912, to Thomas and Mattie (Godman) Dunn in Pendleton County, Ky.
She married Charles Arthur Smith Dec. 9, 1931, in Bucklin. He died in October 1969.
She had been a resident of Johnson since 1951.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnson.
She was also a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 471, Mother's Club and the Jolly Dozen, all of Johnson.
Her hobbies included gardening and cooking.
Survivors include four sons, Jack L. Smith, Lakewood, Calif., Norman Smith, Walsh, Colo., Ray Smith, Crossville, Tenn., and Curtis Smith, Meeker, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother; seven sisters; and one great-grandson, Cody Jack Smith.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Stanton County Cemetery
in Johnson with the Rev. Glenn Fogo presiding.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
The family suggests memorials to either the Stanton County Long Term Care Unit or to the First United Methodist Church, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 605 W. North Ave., Johnson, KS 67855.
WINNIE MAE MEADOWS
Winnie Mae Meadows was born on February 16, 1936 in Turon. She was employed as a bookkeeper for SCF Marketing Inc. for over six years. Prior to this, Winnie resided in Dodge City and Liberal where she held retail positions for over 20 years. Her passions were reading, gardening and crafts. In her later years Winnie had begun to write her personal biography entitled "Winnie's Ramblings." She loved life, had a spunky spirit and never met a stranger. Winnie passed away on December 20, 2001.

Winnie Ruth Roberts of Dodge City, her son Randy L. Meadows and his wife, Jana of Clovis, Calif., daughter Jan M. Hoehner and her husband Frank of Yukon, Okla., grandchildren Jamie and Layne Meadows and Drew Hoehner. She also leaves behind her brothers Bill Roberts of Hemphill, Texas, David Roberts of Curtiba, Brazil, Robert Roberts of Mullinville, and sisters Phyllis Hoffman of San Angelo, Texas and Carolyn Kessen of Cleveland, Mo.

HURTHA R. SERRA
Hurtha Ruth Serra, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born Nov. 22, 1919, to Augustas and Sarah Margaret (Herbert) Franke in Trenton, N.J.
She married Nicholas Serra June 8, 1938, in Trenton. He survives.
She had been a resident of Liberal since 1980, having moved from Trenton.
She had worked in child care and in retail sales.
She was a member of the Greenwood Episcopal Church in Trenton.
Other survivors include two sons, Bruce L. Serra, Liberal, and Robert L. Serra, Levittown, Pa.; five brothers, Kempton Franke, Morrisville, Pa., Robert Franke, Trenton, Charles Franke, Liberal, Alvin Franke, Levittown, N.J., and Edward Paul Franke, Titusville, N.J.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with the Fr. James Shannon presiding.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery
in Liberal.

MARIE E. BOLTON
Marie E. Bolton, 69, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at her residence in Liberal.
She was born Aug. 24, 1932, to Howard Henry and Myrtle M. (Merrell) Johnson in Frederick, Okla.
She married Cleveland Cooper Bolton Aug. 18, 1951, in Seattle. He died July 11, 1995.
She had been a resident of Oklahoma City for 50 years, having moved to Modesto, Calif., in 1979. She moved to Liberal in 1998.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberal and the Best Years Club of the church.
Survivors include her mother, of Liberal; two daughters, Sandy Landis and husband, Dr. Larry, Liberal, and Martha Gibson and husband, Donnie, Cincinnati; one brother, Howard Eugene Johnson, Grand Prairie, Texas; four grandchildren, Jerry Landis, Lorraine Landis, Dana Thompson, and Sonny Gibson; and seven great-grandchildren, Tucker Landis, Taylor Landis, Tanner Landis, Bailey Landis, Bryce Sykes, Devan Sykes and Noah Gibson.
She was also preceded in death by her father and one sister, Frances Hinojosa.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberal with Dr. Larry Landis and the Rev. Bill Prater presiding.
Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery
in Liberal.

LEONARD C. BUSBY
Leonard Cecil Busby, 81, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Jan. 24, 1920, to Ola C. and Golda (Frasier) Busby in Alton.
He married Gladys Koehn Oct. 7, 1951, in Guymon, Okla. She died Jan. 17, 1982.
He married Wanda Taylor April 11, 1984, in Liberal. She survives.
He attended school in Haviland.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and was discharged with honors.
Throughout most of his life he worked in the automobile repair business. He retired in 1986 from Stu Emmert Auto Dealership where he worked as an auto technician.
He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
He was a member of the Best Years Club.
Other survivors include one son, Larry Busby, Liberal; one daughter, Sharon Zwick, Aurora, Colo.; two step-sons, Jerry Taylor, Wichita, and Mitchell Taylor, Bentonville, Ark.; two step-daughters, Carol Scruggs, Liberal, and Patricia Ann Kuikendall, Tucumcari, N.M.; one brother, Leon Busby, Midwest City, Okla.; three sisters, Ethel Spark, Kinsley, Agnes Kesterson, Corona, Calif., and Lela Sharp, Aberdeen, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberal, with Pastor Bill Prater presiding.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

HUGOTON -- Oma Jane Lappin, 98, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

PIONEER, Calif. -- Charles F. Sallee, 68, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Jackson, Calif.
