LELA A. TALBERT
ELKHART -- Lela Arlene Talbert, 78, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.
She was born March 8, 1923, to Henry Allen and Mary (Davolt) Whisennand in Keyes, Okla.
She married Henry Lloyd Talbert Jan. 15, 1945, in Elkhart. He survives.
She had been a life-long resident of rural Keyes.
She was a homemaker.
Other survivors include two sons, Henry Lane Talbert and Richard "Dick" Talbert, both of Keyes; one daughter, Sandra Kay Kersey, El Paso, Texas, one brother, Bob Whisennand, Marietta, Okla.; one sister, Jean Flemming, Keyes; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elkhart Church of God in Elkhart with the Rev. John Morden presiding.
Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Harrell Funeral Home in Elkhart.

D. LEROY CALVERT
LORDS VALLEY, Penn. -- D. Leroy Calvert, age 63, died Dec. 11, 2001, at the Newton Memorial Hospital, Newton, N.J.
He was a former Liberal resident, living in New York City from 1965-2001, and had recently moved to Lords Valley, Penn.
He was born July 6, 1938, at Liberal, the son of Carl J. and Esther A. (Swink) Calvert.
Leroy grew up in the Liberal and Kismet area with his family living at different Panhandle Eastern pumping stations and was a graduate of Satanta High School.
On Aug. 27, 1976, he married Diana Malafronte. She survives.
He was a professional photographer for 36 years. He was an avid collector of American and British military items and belonged to several collector organizations related to that field. He was a proud lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
He is also survived by his identical twin brother, Carl Larry Calvert of Manhattan, N.Y. and by many relatives in the Liberal area.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Dwight.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Odle presiding. Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
NELLIE I. HAMM
Nellie Irene Hamm, 85, Liberal, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born Jan. 2, 1916, to Fred and Edith (Hickman) Marshall in Greensburg.
She married Loyal Friedman Hamm Sept. 20, 1935, in Liberal. He survives.
She attended Greensburg school, and later moved to Liberal.
She was a homemaker.
Her hobbies included attending family and school activities, cooking, gardening, reading, shopping, listening to music, watching television and taking care of pets.
Other survivors include four sons, Rodney Eldon Hamm, Oklahoma City, Darrel Clinton Hamm and wife, Barbara, Great Mills, Md., and Jimmy Don Hamm and Terry Lynn Hamm and wife, Julie, all of Liberal; one daughter, Marilyn Storm, Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Keith Marshall, Greensburg, and Calvin Marshall and wife, Joyce, Fresno, Calif.; one sister, Christine Lewis, Greensburg; seven grandsons, Shawn Storm, Phil Hamm, Tim Hamm, Nicholas Hamm, Michael, Aaron and Ernie; one granddaughter, Courtney Hamm; and one great-grandson, Demian Hamm.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Western Avenue Church of Christ in Liberal with the Minister Wade Tannehill presiding.
Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

ELSIE P. NAAB
Elsie P. Naab, 69, Liberal, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis in Wichita.
She was born June 30, 1932, to Alex and Frances (Kinser) Stegman in Plains.
She married Michael Naab Nov. 22, 1956, in Garden City. He died Sept. 1, 1999.
Following High School, she was at Sacred Heart Convent in Wichita.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Rosel Well Perforators until her retirement in 1987. She later worked at the Seward County Clerk's Office.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Survivors include two son, Michael Naab and wife, Tammy, Liberal, and Anthony Naab and wife, Megan, San Antonio; five
daughters, Susan Naab and husband, Pedro Valles-Garza, Fran Graves and husband, Jim, and Betty Cobb and husband, Jamey, all of Liberal, Doris Naab, Turpin, Okla., and JoAnne Pearce and husband, Clay, Pocatello, Idaho; five brothers, Fr. Leonard Stegman, James Stegman, Carl Stegman, Harvey Stegman and Marvin Stegman; and three sisters, Lucy Vossen, Betty Quigley and Stella Huelskamp; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and three sisters.
Rosary service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Father Patrick Keyes presiding.
Burial will follow at Plains Cemetery
in Plains.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Friday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

ALICE KOEHN
MONTEZUMA Alice Koehn, 90, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Bethel Home Inc., in Montezuma.
She was born April 13, 1911, to Eli B. and Adina (Eck) Jantz in Tampa.
She married Raymond Koehn Aug. 3, 1930, in Montezuma. He died Aug. 30, 1986.
She moved to Montezuma from Tampa in 1914.
She was a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Montezuma.
Survivors include four sons, Paul L. Koehn and wife, Marlene, and Earl Koehn and wife, Geraldine, all of Montezuma, Leroy Koehn and wife, Lila, and Lawrence Koehn and wife, Verna, all of Copeland; three daughters, Fern Jantz and husband, Vernon, Montezuma, Delores Unruh and husband, Carl, Moundridge, and Valetha Koehn and husband, Orvin, Burns; two brothers, Elmer Jantz and wife, Dorothy, and Clifford Jantz and wife, Neva, all of Burns; two sisters, Erma Koehn, and Frances Koehn and husband, Rueben H., all of Montezuma; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandcholdren; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, three brothers, Walter Jantz, Harvey Jantz and Homer Lee Jantz; and one sister, Evelyn Jantz.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church in Montezuma with the Ministers Kalvin Salsbury, Harold Koehn and Glen Yost presiding.
Burial will be at the North Mennonite Cemetery
in Montezuma.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.

MARTHA M. RUTLEDGE
OZARK, Mo. -- Martha Mildred Rutledge, 76, formerly of Elkhart, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at her home in Ozark.
She was born Oct. 30, 1925, to Ernest and Mina (Pate) Lavielle in Elkhart.
She married Ellis Rutledge. He died in 1997.
She was a member of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs Lodge No. 729 in Elkhart.
Her hobbies included sewing, and she made many quilts.
Survivors include one son, Charles Rutledge, Wellsville; two daughters, Kay VanKampen and husband, Lyle, Ozark, and Cindy Gillespie and husband, Tom Jr., Elkhart; two sisters-in-law, Edna Dufur and husband, Willard, Waverly, and Theresa Doyle, Ozark; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas Rutledge; two brothers, Robert Lavielle and Jack Lavielle; and one sister, Phyllis Wilcox.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Harrell Funeral Home in Elkhart.
Burial will be at Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Harrell Funeral Home.

Billie Harrel, 80, Liberal, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
VELDA HONEMAN
HOOKER, Okla. -- Velda Honeman, 86, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at her home in Hooker.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Hooker with the Rev. Merilee Berry presiding.
Burial will be at the Hooker Cemetery
in Hooker.
