THEODORE M. MILLER JR.
HUGOTON -- Theodore M. Miller Jr., 76, Hugoton, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born July 17, 1925, to Theodore Morton Sr. and Grace May (Clogston) Miller, in Brockton, Mass.
He was a graduate of the University of Maine in Orono, Maine.
He married Margaret White May 19, 1945. She preceded him in death.
He married June Darlene Howell March 18, 1960, in Madison, Wisc. She survives.
He worked for Lamb-Weston in American Falls, Idaho, before his retirement.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Hugoton.
He was a member of the Gas Capitol Band in Hugoton, and the Bikers Across Kansas Club. He rode his bike across the state of Kansas three different years. He was a volunteer with Hometown Hospice and was a HAM operator.
He had been a resident of Hugoton since 1988.
Other survivors include three sons, Richard Miller of Belgium, Charles Miller of Patrick Air Force Base in Florida, and Albert Harold Miller, Abilene, Texas; three daughters, Margaret Ann Zephier, Hot Springs, South Dakota, Nan LaBrecque, Clinton, N.Y., and Molly Miller, Denver; two sisters, Mary Jane Fountain, Albany, Ore., and Anne Mitchell, Norton, Mass.; and six grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Hugoton, with the Rev. Jeff Aenk presiding.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Hometown Hospice. Memorials may be sent in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S. Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.
JESSE R. KOEHN
MONTEZUMA -- Jesse R. Koehn, 88, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, Saint Francis Campus in Wichita.
He was born April 26, 1913, to Ruben and Helena (Schmidt)
Koehn, near Montezuma.
He married Mabel Jantz Oct. 28, 1938. She survives.
He was a lifetime resident and farmer of the Montezuma community.
He was a member of the Church of God In Christ Mennonite in Montezuma.
Other survivors include one son, Donald Koehn and wife, Kay, Wichita; three daughters, Roseann Townsend and fiance, Leonard Maxwell, Dodge City, Janice Bratcher, Paris, Texas; and Glenda Toews and husband, Rod, Montezuma; one brother, John Koehn and wife, Lillian, Montezuma; two sisters, May Curtis, Laurel, Maryland, and Susie Ayers, Olathe; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Vernie Koehn; three brothers, Harry, Otis and Ruben Koehn; two sisters, Effie Koehn and Lizzie Jantz; and one son-in-law, Leonard Bratcher.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of God In Christ Mennonite in Montezuma, with Minister Charles Schmidt presiding.
Burial will follow at the North Mennonite Church Cemetery
in Montezuma.
Friends may call at Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma until 8 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday.

THOMAS R. WINGER
Johnson -- Thomas R. Winger, 77, of Johnson died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson.
He was born Oct. 24, 1923, to Chas R. and Vivian DeEtta (Moore) Winger in Syracuse.
He married Mary Ellen Oshel in 1947, in Dodge City. They divorced.
He married Agnes in 1974, in Denver. They divorced.
He was a farmer and an instructor of automotive and diesel mechanics. He left the farm in 1964, and attended Denver Auto Tech to refine his mechanical skills. He was instrumental in starting the diesel mechanics classes at the Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyo.
He was a veteran of World War II. He was involved in the reoccupation of the Philippines.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Ron Winger and wife, Mary, Riverton, Wyo., and John Winger and wife, Vicki, Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Kathy Shaulis, Casper, Wyo.; one brother, Dick Winger and wife, Marie, Johnson; two sisters, June Glanz, Clarkston, Wash., and Helen May Dale and husband, Bill, Protection; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and one son-in-law.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fields Memorial Weslyan Church in Johnson, with the Rev. Dave Kaufmann presiding.

MOSCOW Troy Cantrell, 36, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, in Wichita.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton.
JOSE G. MONTANA
ULYSSES Jose G. Montana, 90, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses.
He was born Oct. 27, 1910, in Lubbock, Texas.
He married Esther Fernandez June 23, 1969, in Lubbock. She died March 29, 1995.
He moved to Ulysses from Lubbock in 1995.
He served in the U.S. military during World War II, and worked as a security guard in Chicago, Ill.
He was a member of the Spanish Baptist Church in Ulysses.
He raised three generations of children; Ellis Lopez, Billy Flores and Hector Flores, and raised three generations of grandchildren; Anna Marie Flores, Rosalinda Medellin and Abbeygale Flores.
Military graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Ulysses Cemetery
with Pastor Manuel Perez presiding.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses.

CLEVE E. CURRIER
ULYSSES Cleve E. Currier, 66, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born Dec. 28, 1934, to Everett Theodore and Amy Ethel (Sundgren) Currier in Deercreek, Okla.
He married Delores Bowers Dec. 29, 1957 in Laverne, Okla. She survives.
He was a graduate of Northwest Oklahoma State University in Alva, Okla., with master's degrees in education and driver's education.
He was a teacher in Seiling, Okla., for three years, and also taught elementary P.E., driver's education, and social studies in Ulysses.
He was a coach for the Ulysses High School golf team, and also coached middle school football, baseball, basketball, track, and wrestling for 32 years until he retired in May, 1995.
He was amember of the Ulysses Men's Golf Association, Grant County Education Association, and president of the Junior High Teachers of Western Kansas.
He was awarded the Outstanding Educator of Grant County in 1985, and in 1995, he was awarded the Southwest Kansas Golden Apple Teacher's Award.
He was nominated for the Kansas Teacher Hall of Fame.
Other survivors include two sons, Clifford Currier and wife, Terri, Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Lonnie Currier and wife, Tami, El Dorado; one brother, Dale Currier and wife, Elaine, Plains; two sisters, Ora Ann Walser and husband, Dave, Junction City, and Amy Matzen, Englewood, Colo.; four grandchildren, Travis and Derek, Jake and Jessica; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nina Whitehouse.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Kepley Middle School Gymnasium in Ulysses with Rev. Bill Harrold presiding.
Burial will be at the Ulysses Cemetery.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Cleve Currier Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.
MYRTLE DUNHAM
DODGE CITY Myrtle (Loucks) Dunham, 87, former Copeland resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at Trinity Nursing Home in Dodge City, where she had been a resident.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.
