FRANK L. STEELE
ULYSSES Frank Leslie Steele, 48, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born March 22, 1953 to Howard "Babe" Steele and June (Cook) Warrington at Clayton, N.M.
He moved to Ulysses in November 2000, and was a pen rider for Grant County Feeders of Ulysses.
Survivors include his mother of Dover, Del.; one daughter, Rebecca Steele, Front Royal, Va.; one stepson, Andy Stubbs, Joppa, Md.; girlfriend, Mary Gooden and her children, Karen Sherwood, David Sherwood and Doug Sherwood, all of Delaware; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Barron and Katelynn Barron.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses with Joel Jarnagin presiding.
Additional services will be held in Dover, with Garnand Funeral Home of Ulysses in charge of Arrangements.
MARGUERITE A. ROONEY
SATANTA Marguerite Alice Rooney, 104, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.
She was born July 14, 1897, to John Francis and Kate (McGrath) Rooney in Beatty.
She married Harry Patrick Rooney Dec. 29, 1917, in Denver. He preceded her in death.
She moved to a farm northwest of Satanta after marriage, and lived in the Satanta area for 85 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Satanta.
She was also a member of the Owaissa Federated Club, the Satanta Chamber of Commerce, and was recently honored with a 75-year pin from the Order Of The Eastern Star.
Survivors include one son, Archie Franklin Rooney and wife, Judith, Satanta; three grandchildren, Patrick Rooney and wife, Jeanette, Ardith Dunn and husband, Kent, all of Satanta, and Rox Ann Miller and husband, Robert, Wellington; nine great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Ward Rooney, Burnell Rooney, Whit Rooney, and George Rooney.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Satanta with the Rev. Jeff Miller presiding.
Burial will be at the Dudley Township Cemetery
in Satanta.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette, and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the United Methodist Church in Satanta.

EULA B. GREEN
Eula B. Green, 93, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Wheatridge Care Park Center in Liberal.
She was born Feb. 26, 1908, to George and Nannie Heston in rural Seward County.
She married Roy Green Aug. 26, 1925, in Hugoton. He died April 30, 1991.
She attended Liberal schools and was a lifetime resident of Liberal and Seward County.
She was an aide in the Wide-A-Wake Ladies Club.
She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Liberal.
Survivors include one son, Bill Green, Elbert, Colo.; three grandchildren, Angela McKenna and husband, Tom, Wichita, Aaron Green, Garden City, and Andrew Green, Kansas City, Kan.; two great-grandchildren, Austin McKenna and Katie McKenna, both of Wichita; niece and caretaker for 15 years, Mary Thompson; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Miller Mortuary Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. Rex Petty presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today at Miller Mortuary.

Rosezetta Hicks, 89, Liberal, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

SUBLETTE -- Juan Antion Diaz, 103, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at his son's home in Sublette.

ESTHER B. EPP
INMAN -- Esther B. Epp, 87, Inman, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson.
She was born March 8, 1914, to Henry B. and Lena (Nachtigal) Regier in Plains.
She married Harold Jantz. He died in 1941.
She married Jake Epp. He died in 1974.
She married Henry B. Epp Aug. 13, 1989. He died July 6, 2000.
She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton, where she was involved in child evangelism fellowship and taught Sunday school.
Before marriage, she lived with and assisted the family of H.P. Nachtigal with childcare.
She had been a homemaker.
She was a former resident of the Liberal and Turpin, Okla., areas.
Survivors include two sons, Howard Epp, Humboldt, and Stanley Epp, West Pueblo, Colo.; one daughter, Lila Gammon, Washington, Ill.; four brothers, Arnold Regier and Eugene Regier, both of Turpin, Dave Regier, Garden City, and Henry Regier, Colby; three sisters, Agnes Buller, Anna Koehn and Tillie Schmidt, all of Inman; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Mennonite Church in Newton with the Pastors Verney Unruh and Dale Janzen presiding.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Beullah Cemetery
in Colby. The casket will be opened at the graveside service.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

BESSIE WILMARTH
Bessie Wilmarth, 85, Liberal, died Friday, Aug. 3, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.
She was born May 8, 1916, to James W. and Elva L. (Huston) Herridge in Bluff City.
She married W.J. "Bill" Wilmarth Nov. 6, 1958, in Guymon. He survives.
She lived in Panhandle, Texas, and Perryton, Texas, from 1936-1948 and then moved to Liberal. She moved to Stevens County and returned to Liberal in 1991.
She was a bookkeeper at Anthony's for several years.
She was a member of Lady Elks No. 1947 in Liberal and had bowled in the Liberal Ladies League for many years. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Panhandle.
Her hobbies included growing flowers and gardening.
Other survivors include one daughter, Vondell Griffin and husband, Shriley R. "Griff," Mesa, Ariz.; one step-daughter, Shirley Burnett and husband, Tom, Elkhart; one brother, Maurice Herridge, Wichita; three sisters, Jennie Herridge, Ruth Snyder and Almeta Fortmeyer, all of Caldwell; two grandchildren, Randy Griffin, Wichita, and Alan Griffin, Frisco, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler and Portia Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Miller Chapel in Liberal with Tom Burnett presiding.
Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal.
Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
FRANCES NICHOLS
COPELAND Frances (Koehn) Nichols, 90, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.
She was born Feb. 16, 1911, to Jesse and Rachel (Jantz) Koehn in Durham.
She married Noah Nichols Oct. 23, 1932, at the Salem Mennonite Church in Copeland. He died May 25, 2000.
She moved with her parents to Sitka and then to Haskell County in 1918.
She was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church in Copeland.
Survivors include eight sons, Manford Nichols and wife, Deloris, Sublette, Howard Nichols and wife, Josie, Ulysses, Milton Nichols and wife, JoAnn, Elkton, S.D., Clayton Nichols and wife, Judy, Copeland, Chester Nichols and wife, Connie, Garden City, Lester Nichols and wife, Sondra, Garden City, Wilferd Nichols and wife, Jacalyn, Copeland, and Milferd Nichols and wife, Peggy, Dalhart, Texas; two daughters, Valetta Koehn and husband, John, Sublette, and Velda Wadel and husband, Darrell, Greensburg; one sister, Gertrude Regehr and husband, Bernard, Grandview, Idaho; one sister-in-law, Elsie Koehn, Montezuma; a special friend, Jennie Unruh, Montezuma; 34 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Joyce Wiebe; and two brothers, Leslie Koehn and Clemen Koehn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Salem Mennonite Church in Copeland with Ministers Milton Unruh and Steve Unruh presiding.
Burial will be at the Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery
in Copeland.
