ALVIN C. PEASTER
MONTEZUMA -- Alvin C. Peaster, 74, Montezuma, formerly
of Grant, Neb., died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Bethel Home Inc. in Montezuma, where he had been a resident since March, 1998.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.
BRUCE J. BERINGER
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Bruce J. Beringer, 54, Englewood, formerly of Liberal, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in Littleton, Colo.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
CARLA S. PATTERSON
Carla Sue Patterson, 42, Liberal, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born April 23, 1959, to Carl F. and Mary (Porzelius) Schmucker in Wauseon, Ohio. He preceded her in death.
She married Tom Patterson Oct. 3, 1982, in Meadows, Ill. He survives.
She graduated from Chenoa Community High School in Chenoa, Ill., in 1977. She earned her bachelor's degree in early childhood development from Bluffton College in Bluffton, Ohio.
She had worked at the Sunshine Day Care Center and Kid Connection, both in Liberal.
She and her husband owned and operated Towdah Fitness Spa in Liberal for 16 years.
She won the 1990 International Pancake Day Race and ran in several other Pancake Day Races, including the 50th anniversary race in 2000.
She was a substitute teacher for USD 480 and was the assistant director at First Baptist Church Pre-School and Day Care Center for three years.
She returned to college in the fall of 2000 at Seward County Community College to earn a degree to teach math or science at the middle school level.
She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society at SCCC. She was also an active member of "That" Liberal Band Booster Club. She had been a PTA officer at McKinley Elementary and belonged to West Middle School Boosters and Moms-in-Touch prayer group.
She taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, led Bible studies in her home and was a youth director along with her husband at Faith Tabernacle and Trinity Faith churches. She attended Faith Tabernacle, Risen Glory, Trinity Faith, Christian Heritage, Believers' Church and Christian Life Center, all of Liberal.
Other survivors include one daughter, Mariko Patterson, of the home; one son, Luke Patterson, of the home; her parents, Merle and Mary Augspurger, Chenoa; her father-in-law, Claude Patterson, Liberal; two brothers, Jeff Augspurger and wife, Rochelle, Chenoa, and Brad Augspurger and wife, Dawn, Elkhart, Ind.; one brother-in-law, Steve Tazumi, Mullica Hill, N.J.; six nephews, Matt, Ben, Dan, Luke and Jake Augspurger and Kenji Tazumi; two nieces, Katie Augspurger and Heather Tazumi; and several aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Schmucker, who was killed in an accident just prior to her birth; her mother-in-law, Fujie Patterson; and her grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Christian Life Center in Liberal with the Revs. Ken Willard, Ann Holman and Frank Holman presiding.
Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

BARBARA L. DELAY
Barbara Lee Delay, 70, died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born February 2, 1931, to Edward and Vida (Crouch) Bundy in Kismet.
She married Wilmer Dean Delay Nov. 16, 1947, in Clayton, N.M. He died Aug. 10, 1998.
She had been a longtime resident of Liberal after moving from Blackwell, Okla.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Blackwell and attended Trinity Faith Church and Church of Christ, both in Liberal.
Survivors include one son, Guy E. Delay and wife, Doretta, Liberal; two daughters, Deanna Williams and husband, Leon, Forgan, Okla., and Leta C. Lee and husband, Ivan, Colby; one brother, Reid Bundy, Los Angeles; two sisters, Helen Bruggemann and Mary Lou Bruggemann, both of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Robert Lee, Tonja Lee, Jimmy Williams, Patricia Vorhies, Shana Farrow, Jessica Delay and Caitlin Delay; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with Dr. Ollie Kinser presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.

WESLEY D. GIESBRECHT
ULYSSES Wesley Dale Giesbrecht, 55, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 19, 2001, at the Grant Mennonite Cemetery
in Ulysses.
He was born September 17, 1945, to William W. and Hulda E. (Unruh) Giesbrecht in Ingalls.
He married Myrna Schmidt July 29, 1979, in Livingston, Calif. She survives.
He was a farmer, and a member of Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Ulysses.
Other survivors include one son, Wayland W. Giesbrecht, of the home; three daughters, Marcella J. Giesbrecht, Lisa Ann Giesbrecht and Michelle Jo Giesbrecht, all of the home; one brother, Galen Giesbrecht and wife, Deloris, Sunray, Texas; three sisters, Clareen Unruh and husband, David, Gentry, Ark., Velda Unruh and husband, Raymond, Moundridge, and Jane Wiggers and husband, Kayle, Comstock, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Irene Giesbrecht; and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clayton Giesbrecht and Bill Giesbrecht.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grant Mennonite Church in Ulysses with Ministers Stuart Jantzen and Denton Koehn presiding.
Burial will be at Grant Mennonite Cemetery
in Ulysses.

MILTON L. LANG
MOSCOW Milton Lawlin "Red" Lang, 73, died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at the Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
He was born February 13, 1928, to Theodore William and Ada (Morris) Lang in Anson, Texas.
He married Rosie Marie Lankford Nov. 22, 1949, in Gail, Texas. She survives.
He had lived previously in Petersburg, Texas, then moved to Big Bow and to Moscow in 1971.
He was a farm laborer and had worked in the maintenance department for the City of Moscow for several years.
He was a member of the Moscow Baptist Church.
He was an assistant Boy Scoutmaster, a volunteer Moscow firefighter for 20 years and a volunteer with the Moscow EMS for 18 years.
Other survivors include three sons, Milton Jerry Lang and wife, Barbara, Manteca, Calif., William James Lang, Pittsburg, and Roger Dale Lang and wife, Jill, Branson, Mo.; two daughters, Gloria Jean Mauer, Fort Lupton, Colo., and Shawna Gay Pipher and husband, Curley, Moscow; one brother, Morris D. Lang and wife, Mary Ann, Tyler, Texas; two sisters, Juanita Gloria Weddle and husband, Kenneth, Riverdale, Ga., and Betty Jean Aldridge and husband, Gerald, Augusta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Moscow Baptist Church in Moscow with minister Larry Bradford presiding.
Burial will be at the Moscow Cemetery
in Moscow.

WILLIAM E. HOLLAND
GUYMON, Okla. William Everett Holland, 88, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at his home in Guymon.
He was born April 9, 1913, to William Samuel and Ola Victoria (Isbell) Holland at the family homestead in rural Hooker, Okla.
He married Ovie C. Ralstin July 30, 1938, in Hugoton. She died Feb. 6, 2000.
He attended the Hooker school system and graduated in 1936. He later attended Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell, Okla., and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla. He was a minister at the United Brethren Christian Church Eden Chapel during his two years in Stillwater.
He was a farmer and retired from the City Service Gas Co. after 30-years of service.
He was a founding member of the Straight Christian Church, where he served as Sunday School superintendent for many years. When he moved to Guymon, he moved his church membership to the Guymon First Christian Church.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, where he served as Exalted Ruler, and was also on the Elks Board of Directors for eight years.
Survivors include three sons, William Eugene Holland and wife, Betty, Olathe, Randy Lee Holland and wife, Renee, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Ross Dean Holland and wife, Carol, Guymon; three daughters, Anna Marie Holland, Houston, Texas, Marilyn Gayle Cross, Bethany, Okla., and Rita Lynn Ellzey and husband, Tom, Guymon; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dwight Alvin Holland; one brother, Maurice Holland; and one sister, Francis Purcell.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Guymon with the Rev. Don Chase presiding.
Burial will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery
in Guymon.
