CARL RELING
ULYSSES -- Carl Reling, 85, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born May 12, 1915, to August Carl and Anna Valeria (Buche) Reling, in Cawker City.
He had attended rural country school and graduated from Cawker City High School in 1933.
He married Clorene Planet April 29, 1950, in Kansas City, Mo. She died Jan. 6, 1998, in Manhattan.
He was a resident of Manhattan from 1950 until 1998, when he moved to Ulysses.
He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre, including Anzio Beachhead. He received five Battle Campaign Stars and a Bronze Arrowhead.
He was a member of the Manhattan VFW Post No. 1786.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Manhattan and Ulysses.
He was a printer for the Manhattan Mercury newspaper for more than 30 years.
His hobbies included playing the guitar, banjo, clarinet, harmonica, piano, accordion and fiddle. As a young adult he was a member of the Cottonwood Trio.
Survivors include one son, Michael Reling and wife, Karen, Costa Mesa, Calif.; one daughter, Ginny Young and husband, Donnie, Ulysses; one step-son, Dr. Edward Bowdon and wife, Mahlona, Plano, Texas; one brother, Vernon Reling and wife, Venda, Cawker City; one sister, Elizabeth Boxum and husband, Ben, Lynden, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Tresa Wisdom, Butler, Mo.; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Reling.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Ulysses, with Pastor Barry Durkee presiding.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sunrise Cemetery
in Manhattan.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

ADELE T. ANGELL
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Adele T. Angell, 91, former Plains resident, died of pneumonia Friday, May 4, 2001, in Colorado Springs.
She was born Oct. 28, 1909, to Everett and Mamie Edwards in Plains.
She moved with her family to Santa Ana, Calif., in 1920, where she lived until her marriage. She had been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1973.
She married C. Francis Angell Jan. 3, 1928. He died in November 1974.
She and her husband moved to Plains following their marriage and lived in that area until moving to Colorado Springs. At the time of her death she was a resident of the Village at Skyline.
She was member of the First Baptist Church in Colorado Springs for 28 years. She served on many occasions as the chair for hostess committees at the church. She sang for church choirs for 73 years. She taught children's Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for several years.
She participated in the Colorado Springs Baptist Church Sew 'n Sew Ministry Group, making blankets and clothing for people in need.
She was a charter member of the Plains Study Club, a volunteer at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, a Republican Precinct Committee woman in both Plains and Colorado Springs, and a member of the El Paso County Republican Women.
Her hobbies included baking.
Survivors include three sons, Charlie Angell and wife, Phyllis, and Royce Angell and wife, Judi, all of Colorado Springs, and Wayne Angell and wife, Betty, of Washington D.C.; one daughter, Lynda Williams and husband, Morgan, Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Kiowa and Weber Streets, in Colorado Springs.
Burial will be at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday in Plains.
BEATRICE MAY CORN
SPRINGFIELD, Colo. -- Beatrice May (Lawson) Corn, 91, former Plains resident, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Springfield.
She was born May 4, 1910, to John Spurgeon and May Belle Lawson near Keltner, Okla.
She attended rural and municipal schools in and near Plains.
She married Hadley Sherman Corn of Springfield, Sept. 11, 1943. He preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother.
Her hobbies included cooking, selling eggs, washing and ironing clothes for others, and home care for the elderly.
She was a resident of the Southeast Colorado Long Term Care Nursing Home at the time of her death.
Survivors include one son, Harold Corn and wife, Carolyn, Los Alamos, N.M.; two daughters, Geraldine McArthur and husband, George, Aurora, Colo., and Joyce Thompson and husband, Wayne, Springfield; seven grandchildren, Christian McArthur, Brenda (McArthur) Wingo, Sherri Lynn (Corn) Holmes, Philip McArthur, Sean Michael Corn, Jennifer McArthur, and Timothy Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Alex Wingo, Gary Dee Wingo III, and Kaylee Lynn McArthur; and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles Lawson; infant daughter, Sarah May Corn; and one son, James Byron Corn.
Funeral services have already taken place under the direction of Rich's Funeral Home in Springfield.
BOBBY L. STELZIG
MOSCOW -- Bobby L. Stelzig, 47, Holly, Colo., formerly of Moscow, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Prower Medical Center in Lamar, Colo.
He was born Feb. 15, 1954, to Lawrence E. and Jewel Christine (Gatlin) Stelzig in Midland, Texas.
He served in the United States Army.
Survivors include two brothers, Gary Stelzig, Newark, Del., and Ricky Stelzig, Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Vickie Small, Moscow; three nieces, Melissa Auen, Kristi VanHooser and husband, Earl, and Kelly Stelzig; and two great-nieces, Justine Auen and Audrey Auen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Moscow Baptist Church in Moscow with the Pastor Larry Bradford presiding.
Burial will be at the Moscow Cemetery
in Moscow.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton.
MARY F. WILKERSON
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Mary Frances (Brooks) Wilkerson, 74, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at her home in Nashville.
She was born May 8, 1926, to the late Oscar and Berniece Brooks of Liberal.
She married William Carl Wilkerson Feb. 28, 1946. He survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Steve Wilkerson and wife, Jan, Jeff Wilkerson and wife, Sue, and Gary Wilderson and wife, Kay Barnes, all of Nashville; three brothers, Gene Brooks, Eufaula, Okla., Jimmy Brooks, Hill City; Ernie Brooks, Kingman, Ariz.; two sisters, Susie Richardson and husband, Ray, Liberal, and Marie Grimsley, Satanta; and seven grandchildren, Kenneth Wilkerson, Keith Wilkerson, Katie Wilkerson, Jarrod Wilkerson, Nathan Wilkerson, Jenny Wilkerson Trew and Jason Ellis.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Pettus-Owen and Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Nashville with the the Pastor Bob Orgeron presiding.
Entombment will be in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens in Nashville.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Pettus-Owen and Wood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today and Wednesday.
VERLE R. ELDRIDGE
HARDESTY, Okla. -- Verle R. Eldridge, 61, Hardesty, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla.
He was born Sept. 4, 1939, to Merle Franklin and Hazel Marie (Pennington) Eldridge in Liberal.
He married Glenda L. DeHarde Nov. 3, 1961, in Hardesty. She survives.
He attended school in Hardesty and graduated from Hardesty High School. He then attended Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Okla. He also attended recruiting school in Indianapolis and Bethesda, Md.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1959 and served for 21 years. He retired April 1, 1980, with the rank of E7, Sgt. First Class. He served in Alaska from 1959-1960; Germany from 1961-1963; Vietnam from 1968-1969; and Korea from 1972-1973.
He was a recruiter for five years in the Oklahoma Panhandle area, Kansas and Texas. After retirement from the Army, he was employed by the Corps of Engineers and Hooker, Okla., public school.
He was a member of Kiwanis Club of Hardesty and attended the United Methodist Church in Hooker.
He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze service stars, Vietnam Campaign medal with 60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal with fifth awards and Meritorious Service Medal.
Other survivors include two sons, Alvin Eldridge, Santa Fe, N.M., and Frank Eldridge and fiancee, Lisa Williams, Liberal; one daughter, Arletta Thompson and husband, Johnpaul, Greenville, N.C.; four brothers, Cleberne Eldridge and wife, Shirley, Denver, Leon Eldridge and wife, Carol, Edmond, Okla., Eldon Eldridge and wife, Emma Mae, Hardesty, and Roy Cooper and wife, Debbie, Atoka, Okla.; two grandchildren, Layne Eldridge, Guymon, Okla., and Bailey
Williams, Liberal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Nathan Cooper; a sister-in-law, Shirley Eldridge; and a half-brother, Billy Cooper.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Hooker with the Rev. Kim Domnick presiding.
Burial will be at the Hooker Cemetery
in Hooker.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Children's Hospital in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
BOBBY G. HAGEN
BETHANY, Okla. -- Bobby Gene Hagen, 51, died Monday, May 7, 2001, in Oklahoma City.
He was born Feb. 11, 1950, to Ray and Mada Hagen in Perryton, Texas.
He was raised on a farm in Balko, Okla. He attended Turpin, Okla., Grade School, Balko High School and Panhandle State College before entering the U.S. Navy.
He served on the aircraft carrier USS Constellation during the Vietnam War.
He moved to Oklahoma City and was employed in the heating and air conditioning industry.
Survivors include his parents, Balko; one daughter, Holly Rae Hagen, Yukon, Okla.; one sister, Connie Gard and husband, Jon, Waretown, N.J.; and two nephews, David Gard and wife, Diane, Bayville, N.J., and Brad Gard, Philadelphia.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany.
A second service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Balko.
Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery
in Balko.
Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany is in charge of arrangements.
