STEPHEN F. ROGERS
Stephen F. Rogers, 45, of Liberal, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Oct. 11, 1955, to Odell F. and ElFleta J. (Furnish) Rogers in Guymon, Okla.
He married Teresa L. Taylor Aug. 24, 1974, in Liberal.
He attended school in Elkhart and moved to Liberal in 1971.
He owned and operated Rogers Well Service, which later became ST Packer Services.
He invented an oil field tool, the Rogers Isolation Packer.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW Lane Day Post No. 3166 in Liberal.
Survivors include his parents, of Liberal; one daughter, Heather Rogers, Liberal; five brothers, Sandy Rogers and wife, Cathy, Evanston, Wyo., Jerry Rogers, Liberal, Dennis Rogers, Kevin Rogers and wife, Shawna, and Chris Rogers and wife, Julia, all of Hemit, Calif.; two sisters, Dorinda Griblin, Liberal, and Kimberly Lozar and husband, Kenny, Ulysses; and one granddaughter, Stephenee Rogers, Liberal.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Miller Chapel in Liberal with the Pastor Kevin Ross presiding.
Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
ETHAN A. QUAKENBUSH
SUBLETTE -- Ethan A. Quakenbush, 81, of Sublette, died Monday, April 23, 2001, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.
He was born April 30, 1919, to Charles Alfred and Bernice Irene (Ratliff) Quakenbush in Edwards County.
He and his family moved to Finney County when he was 18 months old.
After serving in the Alaskan Command during World War II, he moved to Haskell County.
He married Laura C. Miller Dec. 20, 1945, in Garden City. She survives.
Both he and his wife attended Kansas State University. Later, he served as an extension agent in Pratt County and Harvey County.
He and his wife returned to Haskell County in 1951, where he farmed and raised cattle.
After retiring in 1976, he and his wife moved to Sublette.
He was a member of the Sublette United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge in Garden City.
He was a past member of the Sublette Soil Conservation Board, Farm Bureau and the Farm Bureau Board, all of Sublette.
His hobbies included gardening and bird watching.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mary Lynn Deborski and husband, Gary, Midland, Mich., and Marsha Rich and husband, Pete, Lawrence; two sisters, Roberta Niquette and husband, Harold, Grand Junction, Colo., and Shirley Burnside and husband, James, Buffalo, Okla.; four grandchildren, Christopher Deborski, Corey Deborski, Holly Hartwell and Andrea Rich; and three great-grandchildren, Hadley Hartwell, Hayden DeLong-Deborski and Lauren Deborski.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eugene Quakenbush and Donald Quakenbush.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Sublette with the Rev. Mary Al Titus presiding.
Military honors will be conducted by the Sublette American Legion Post No. 205.
Friends may sign the register until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.
Memorials are suggested to the Sublette United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice, both in care of Haskell County Funeral Home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.
ANNA MAE ADAMS
Anna Mae Adams, 91, Liberal, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born Dec. 11, 1909, to Calvin E. and Amanda R. (Kiste) Miller in Demming, Ind.
She married Imel K. Miller March 2, 1929, in Tipton County, Ind.
She married William H. Adams Dec. 19, 1947, in Indianapolis. He died May 2, 1979, in California.
She served in WACs during World War II at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis.
She had been a resident of California for 43 years and moved to Liberal from Santa Clara, Calif., in 1994.
Survivors include one son, Jackie Miller and wife, Jeannine, Liberal; one sister-in-law, Carrie June Miller, Atlanta, Ind.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, three sisters and one grandchild.
Memorial services and inurnment will be held at a later date at the East Union Cemetery
in Atlanta.
The family suggests memorials to the donor's choice.

NOLA E. BRACKEEN
Nola E. Brackeen, 91, Liberal, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born July 6, 1909, to James P. and Laura (Leonard) Morris in Hardesty, Okla.
She married Clarence Wooldridge Jan. 25, 1924.
She married Roger Brackeen in 1957 in Liberal. He preceded her in death.
She had been a resident of Beaver, Okla., before moving to Liberal in 1954.
She had been a caregiver for the elderly for several years.
She was a member of the Trinity Faith Church in Liberal.
Survivors include one sister, Irene Murry, Beaver; three grandchildren, Larry Wooldridge and wife, Sherri, Liberal, Cindy Stewart and husband, Andy, Liberal, and Wesley Starnes, Newton; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; three sisters; and two sons, Wilford Wooldridge and Milford Wooldridge.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Miller Chapel in Liberal with Dr. Ollie Kinser presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
WALTER J. "BUD" WEDEL
COOLIDGE -- Walter J. "Bud" Wedel, 76, formerly of Sublette, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita.
He was born Nov. 9, 1924, to Henry and Nora Mildred (Harsh) Wedel in Moundridge.
At the age of six, he and his parents moved to Syracuse.
He married Elda Elaine Hurley Aug. 18, 1947, in Lakin. She died Nov. 16, 1986.
He and his wife moved from Syracuse to Liberal in 1956, and then to Sublette in 1961.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart in the South Pacific.
He was employed as an oiler and shift foreman at Northern Natural Gas Company. He also owned and operated Wedel's General Repair in Sublette from 1968 to 1986.
He moved to Coolidge after the death of his wife.
He later married Letha Faye (Donaldson) Kimbell June 4, 1989, in Syracuse. She survives.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Holly, Colo.
His hobbies included doing family history, gardening and farming with his brother.
Other survivors include a grandson, Trey Shelby Sandbothe, of the home; two sons, Donald Ray Wedel and wife, Diana Kay, Newton, and Ronald Dean Wedel and wife, Sharlotte, Hungary; two daughters, Elda Marie Watson and husband, James "Jim," Manhattan, and Patricia "Patty" Sunderland and husband, Rex, Satanta; one step-son, John Kimbell and wife, Sheila, Westfork, Ark.; three step-daughters, Alice Babcock, Garden City, Carol Bewley and husband, Neil, Las Animas, Colo., and Nancy Wagner and husband, Jerry, Driftwood, Texas; one brother, Robert "Bob" Wedel, Coolidge; four sisters, Ethel Brown, Garden City, Kathryn Dale, Colorado Springs, Colo., Mildred Nusser and husband, Harold, Kansas, Okla., and Anne Ping and husband, Gerald, McClouth; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Jeremy James Wedel.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Haskell County Cemetery
in Sublette with president Eugene Thornburgh presiding.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.
MARION "KEN" CROMER
ELKHART -- Marion Kenley "Ken" Cromer, 53, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita.
He was born Sept. 16, 1947, to Sonny and Lola (Barry) Cromer in Russellville, Ala.
Survivors include his mother, Watervliet, Mich.; one son, Aaron Cromer and wife, Brenda, Elkhart; one daughter, Terra (Cromer) Orth and husband, Shannon, Elkhart; two brothers, Barry Cromer, Watervliet, and Randy Cromer, Coloma, Mich.; and seven grandchildren, Adrian, Andria, Cody, Katie, Caleb, Jared and Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of God in Elkhart.
Graveside services will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.
