CHARLES T. ALEXANDER
SATANTA -- Charles T. Alexander, 69, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at his home in Satanta.
He was born Sept. 25, 1931, to Madison and Caroline (Finke) Alexander in Ulysses.
He married Kolene Tunis April 21, 1956, in Clayton, N.M. She survives.
He was a lifetime area resident.
He served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army.
He worked in the oil fields, raised horses and farmed.
He was a member of the Satanta American Legion Post No. 276, Johnson VFW Post No. 3684 and the American Quarter Horse Association.
Other survivors include one son, Steve Alexander, Satanta; one daughter, Bonnie Stice and husband, Kenneth, Hutchinson; three brothers, John Alexander and wife, Geneva, Satanta, Sam Alexander and wife, Connie, Sun City, Calif., and Boyd Alexander, Caliente, Nev.; and three sisters, Mae Dieringer and husband, Oscar, Schulenburg, Texas, June Alexander, Satanta, and Jo Westwood, Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Satanta with the Revs. Larry Myers and Ray Tweed presiding.
Inurnment will be at the Dudley Township Cemetery
in Satanta.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette to sign the register.

REBECCA SCHMIDT
DODGE CITY -- Rebecca (Nightengale) Schmidt, 92, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Trinity Manor Nursing Home in Dodge City.
She was born May 9, 1908, to Abraham and Dena (Eck) Nightengale in Fairview, Okla.
She married Herman Schmidt Nov. 2, 1924, in Fairview. He died in August of 1968.
She and her husband moved to the Montezuma community in 1924 from Fairview. She moved to Dodge City in 1971.
She was a farmer's wife and a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Montezuma.
Her hobbies included working with livestock, gardening and fishing.
Survivors include one daughter, Viola Unruh, Montezuma; one sister, Laura Unruh, Arkansas City; one grandson, Eldon Unruh and wife, Peggy, Montezuma; four great-granddaughters, Stephanie Stuhlsatz and husband, Rodney, Amanda Unruh, Julie Unruh, and Valerie Unruh; and one great-great-grandson, Gaven Stuhlsatz.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Henry Unruh; and two grandsons, Earl and Arthur Unruh.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Montezuma, with the Rev. Dick Robbins presiding.
Burial will be at the North Mennonite Cemetery
in Montezuma.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.

EDITH SUSAN MARRS
MONTEZUMA -- Edith Susan Marrs, 100, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at the Minneola District Hospital in Minneola.
She was born Dec. 9, 1900, to James W. and Lattie (Edwards) Brock in Gray County.
She married Chester I. Marrs Nov. 21, 1919, in Cimarron. He died Nov. 23, 1985, two days after their 66th anniversary.
She and her husband lived in the Fowler community for 62 years, moving to New Mexico until 1979, when they moved to Montezuma. She became a resident of the Fowler Nursing Home in 1994.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary, and she was a Gold Star Mother, all of Fowler.
Survivors include one four sons, Lloyd Marrs and wife, Connie, Littleton, Colo., Irvin Marrs and wife, Genevieve, Montezuma, Lewis Marrs and wife, Shirley, Phoenix, Ariz., and Richard Marrs and wife, Helen, Fowler; two daughters, Pauline Golden, Oakhurst, Okla., and Ella Mae Deckert, Greensburg; two brothers, George Brock and wife, Kathryn, Abany, Ore., and Edwin "Bus" Brock and wife, Betty, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; one sister, Gladys Blake, Dodge City; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Roscoe D. Marrs, Leo Raymond Marrs and Danny Ray Marrs; three grandsons, Leslie Marrs, Gary Marrs and Gordon Deckert; one granddaughter, Susan Deckert; and two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Fowler, with the Rev. Juanita Catlin presiding.
Burial will be at the Fowler Cemetery
in Fowler.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and Tuesday at the Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.

MICHELLE MALDONADO
HUTCHINSON -- Michelle Renee Maldonado, 17, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at the Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson from injuries she received in a car accident.
She was born Oct. 9, 1983, to Paul and Teresa R. (Gleason) Maldonado in Liberal.
She was a junior at Trinity High School.
She was a member of the Lady Celtic Basketball, volleyball and track teams. She was selected second team, Heart of America League Basketball and Honorable Mention All Reno County Basketball Team and Honorable Mention All Southwest Kansas Basketball Team.
She was a gold medal winner of the Heart of America League Scholarship Test and an academic honor student. She was a member of the campus ministry and served as junior class treasurer. She was selected to attend girl's state.
She was a member of the St. Teresa Catholic Church and the Catholic Youth Organization. She was a pro-life advocate.
Survivors include her parents of Hutchinson; her grandmother, Nancy Gleason, Kansas City, Mo.; four brothers, Kevin Paul Maldonado, Christopher Emilio Maldonado, Thomas Daniel Maldonado and Michael Phillip Maldonado, all of the home; one sister, Melissa Maria Maldonado, of the home.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, William Gleason and Emilio M. Maldonado; and her grandmother, Nellie Maldonado.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Hutchinson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Teresa Catholic Church, with Father Richard Stuchlik presiding.
Burial will be at Fairlawn Burial Park.

ROY W. PERRY
HUGOTON -- Roy W. Perry, 88, of Hugoton, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Garden Valley Retirement Village Inc. in Garden City.
He was born Sept. 2, 1912, to Jesse and Bertha (Gore) Perry in Stevens County.
He married Hattie Franklin Hall May 27, 1934, in Richfield. She survives.
He had been a lifetime resident of the Stevens County area, and was a resident of Garden Valley Retirement Village for the past 11 months.
He was a farmer and stockman.
He was a member of the Church of the First Born in Hugoton.
His enjoyed traveling with his wife.
Other survivors include two sons, Dick Perry and wife, Shelley, Hugoton, and Dwayne Hull and wife, Vickie, Hugoton; four daughters, Shirley Leonard and husband, Gene, Hugoton, Betty Jo Hinkle and husband, Rodney, Sacramento, Calif., Jessie Shuck and husband, Gene, Liberal, and Vickie Larrabee and husband, Steve, Meade; one brother, Wilmer Perry and wife, Isabel, Hugoton; one sister, Bertha June Clinesmith and husband, Leonard, Checotah, Okla.; one newphew, Rusty Hull and wife, Blanca, N.M.; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank Perry and Homer Perry; one granddaughter, Kandra Larrabee.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of God in Hugoton with the Revs. Bill Vincent and Terry Worthington presiding.
Burial will be at the Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton.

JESUS GUERRERO
HUGOTON -- Jesus Guerrero, 96, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at the Manor of the Plains in Dodge City.
He was born Nov. 12, 1904, to Linion and Maria (Carra) Guerrero in Chihuahua Zacatecas, Mexico.
He married Manuela Olivarez in 1929 in Dodge City. They were married for 12 years. She preceded him in death.
He married Antoina Gomez in Hugoton. They were married for 52 years. She preceded him in death.
He moved from Johnson to Hugoton, where he was a resident for the past 60 years. He had been a resident of the Manor of the Plains in Dodge City for the past seven months.
He was a member of the St. Helen Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Hugoton.
He worked as a section forman for the SantaFe Railroad.
His hobbies included gardening.
Survivors include one son, Joe B. Guerrero, Hugoton; five daughters, Mary Romero and Josie Orosco, both of Hugoton, Rosie Sandoval, Susie Medina and Mary Jane Lopez, all of Dodge City; 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Manuel and Junior Guerrero; one daughter, Elvira Medina; two grandsons, two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
Rosary services were at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Helen Catholic Church in Hugoton.
Funeral Mass was at 10:30 today at St. Helen Catholic Church, with Father Gilbert Herrman presiding.
Burial followed at the Hugoton Cemetery
in Hugoton.
Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials have been established for either the St. Helen Catholic Church Sign Fund, or the MSGR Hussman Learning Center, both of Hugoton.
