IRENE METCALF
Irene Metcalf, 83, died June 15, 2000, at the Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita.
She was born Feb. 10, 1917, to Robert and Laura (Clement) Harper in Harper County.
She married Kenneth R. Metcalf Dec. 10, 1936, in Beaver, Okla. He died May 11, 1983.
She moved as a young girl to the Oklahoma Panhandle in Texas County and attended school there. She moved to Beaver County in 1936 and later to a farm northwest of Liberal, where she and her husband farmed for many years.
They entertained the Liberal grade school students for many years with educational tours of their farm.
She continued farming after the death of her husband.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was also a very active member of the Southwest Medical Center
Auxiliary, both of Liberal.
Survivors include two sons, Ted Metcalf and wife, Florence, Hugoton, and Jerry Metcalf, Liberal; two grandchildren, Michael Metcalf and his wife, Nancy Puttman, Prairie Village, and Janet Kay Sprecker and husband, Tim, Wichita; and three great-grandchildren, Brandy Puttman Metcalf, Riley Puttman Metcalf, and Skyler Allen Sprecker.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Harper and Melvin Harper; and three sisters, Nora Gloden, Bertha Raglin and Juanita Ciarlino.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Miller Chapel with the Rev. Nel Holmes presiding. Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the donor's choice and may be left in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln, Liberal, KS 67901.
MAURINE E. THOMAS
Maurine E. Thomas, 89, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, at Liberal Good Samaritan Center in Liberal.
She was born April 21, 1911, to Alvin R. and Nora (Roth) McCullough in Lakin.
She married Paul E. Thomas Oct. 22, 1928, in Garden City. He died July 18, 1998.
She was a Liberal resident since 1940.
She was a 1929 graduate of Lakin High School.
She was the Deputy Register of Deeds and then worked for Etzold Abstract until her retirement in 1975.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship, and formerly attended the Prestige Club.
She also taught cooking for the 4H Club.
She was an avid walker, seamstress and loved flowers of all kinds.
Survivors include one son, Keith Thomas and wife, Harriett, Shawnee; two daughters, Jo Ann Harris and husband, Lloyd, Plains, and Dolores Livesay, Guymon, Okla.; and seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Kitch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Wilkins presiding with assistance from Chaplain Judy Barnes. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today. Family will receive friends until 3 p.m. today at Kitch Funeral Home.

CHARLES S. QUINTANA
Charles S. Quintana, 79, Liberal, died June 17, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Sept. 11, 1920, to Delfinio S. and Altagracia (Casados) Quintana in Gallegos, N.M.
He moved to Liberal in 1968 from Tucumcari, N.M., and lived here since that time.
He worked as a janitor at the north and south Ideal stores until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Liberal.
Survivors include one brother, Eloy Quintana and wife, Della, Denver; five sisters, Delfina Montinez and husband, Eloy, Costa Mesa, Calif., Pauline Velasquez and husband, Johnny, Loveland, Calif., Victoria Jiminez and husband, Don, Liberal, Margaret Cordova and husband, Gilbert, Liberal, and Carmen Salazar, Orange, Calif.; several nieces and nephews including, Georgia Quattrone and husband, Larry, Liberal, Chris Carlile and Pam McDaniel, both of Liberal, and Katrina Vega, Wichita; two great-nephews, Joshua and Caleb Quattrone, Liberal; one brother-in-law, Alex Quintana, Pomona, Calif.; and three sister-in-laws, Lucy Quintana, Tucumcari, N.M., Aurora Quintana and Simmona Quintana, both of Albuquerque, N.M.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Isidor Quintana, Euligio Quintana, Santor Quintana, Herman Quintana and Phil Quintana; and one sister, Annie Quintana.
Welcoming home services will be a 7 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a vigil service and recitation of the rosary at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Liberal.
Mass of resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Henry Hildebrandt presiding. Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday at Kitch Funeral Home in Liberal.

KIRK ALAN HECOX
PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Kirk Alan Hecox, 41, died Thursday, June 15, 2000, in Pittsburgh.
He was born April 17, 1959, to Raymond and Pauline (Mason) Hecox in Liberal.
He was a longtime Liberal resident prior to moving to Pittsburgh.
He graduated with the Liberal High School class of 1977.
He served in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his father, Liberal; one sister, Carol Jayne and husband, Kelly, Kingman; two nieces, Brittney and Christina Jayne; and two nephews, Scott and Andrew Jayne, all of Kingman.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
There will be no services at this time. Cremation has taken place.
Kitch Funeral Home, Liberal, is in charge of arrangements.
FRANK M. BAKER
COPELAND -- Frank Morris Baker, 75, San Francisco, Calif., died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.
PAPPY CHAPMAN
Pappy Chapman, 27, Liberal, died Saturday, June 17, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Sept. 15, 1972, to Lupe Montoya and Barbara Chapman in Clinton, Okla.
He was a longtime resident of Liberal. He was employed as an oil field worker.
Survivors include his father, Lupe Montoya and step-mother, Holly, Farmington, N.M., and his mother, Barbara Beason and step-father, James, Johnson; one daughter, Alexis Chapman, Liberal; two sisters, Nacole Martinez, Liberal, and Jessie Martinez, Johnson; and his paternal grandparents, Frank and Jennie Montoya.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Mildred Chapman.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kitch Funeral Chapel, Liberal, with the Rev. David Bagwell presiding. Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Kitch Funeral Home, Liberal.
JANICE L. PRICE
JEFFERSON CITY Mo. -- Janice L. Price, 69, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at the St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was a former Tyrone, Okla. resident.
Funeral services are pending and will be announced by the Miller Mortuary.

ELDON, Mo. -- Janice L. Price, 69, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, Mo.
She was born Aug. 15, 1930, to Cline H. and Pearl (Stuttler) Southern. She was raised by her step-mother Eleanor Eakin.
She married Kenneth Price Jan. 15, 1955, in Larned. He died Nov. 30, 1972.
She graduated from high school in Larned and attended nurses training in Hutchinson. She was a registered nurse. She worked at the Epworth hospital and Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. She also worked at Ft. Supply Hospital and nursing homes in Mocain, Mo. and Eldon.
She moved to Missouri in 1989.
She was a former Tyrone, Okla. resident.
She was a member of the Ninth Street Christian Church, Eldon.
Survivors include three sons, Ryan Price and wife, Zi, Osage Beach, Mo., Kelly Price and wife, Marie, Laverne, Okla., and Koby Price and wife Sheila, Earlsville, Ill.; three daughters, Sheila Cain and husband, Gene, Tyrone, Okla., Kenda Ketron and companion, Glenn Miller, Gate, Okla., and Jana King and husband, Terry, Eldon, Mo.; one brother, Mike LeSage, Seattle, Wash.; five sisters, Betty Walton, Beech, Fla., Nancy Borup, Lakewood, Colo., Kay Rush, Paola, Helen Cummings, Houston, and Cindy Renner, Wichita; eighteen grandchildren, Heather, Heath and Harlan Cain; Codi, Casie and Courtney Price; Amber, Tiffany, and Sheldon Price; Hunter, Tyler and Malea Price; Kenny and Kyler Ketron; and Nikki, Brittany, Eric and Quentin King.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and son, Eric.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Tyrone Baptist Church, Tyrone, with the Rev. Tim Drake presiding. Burial will follow at the Tyrone Cemetery, Tyrone.
