ARTHUR THOMAS COLE
LIBERAL -- Arthur Thomas Cole, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born July 17, 1910, to Edwin Chase and Rosa Lee (McLaughlin) Cole.
He married Luella A. Zingery Jan. 27, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. They recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. She survives.
He attended school in Marietta, Ohio, and served in the National Guard from 1929-32.He worked for Pure Oil Co. at Mt. Pleasant, Mich., for seven years. He started working for Halliburton Services at Mt. Pleasant in 1941. Later he transferred to Borger, Texas, and Southwest Kansas. He retired in 1973 after 32 years of service in the oil fields.
After retirement, he started Cole's Locksmith and Safe Services in Liberal. He also helped organize the Great Plains Locksmith Association.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of Fargo Masonic Lodge No. 300 AF and AM. Life Member of Royal Arch Masons and also the Liberal Commandery No. 55. He was a member of Liberal Chapter No. 104 Order of the Eastern Star, Liberal Pancake Campers Club and AARP.
Other survivors include two sons, Arthur Thomas Cole Jr. and wife, Terry, Derby, and David William Cole and wife, Ginger, Olathe; four daughters, Patricia Ann DeVoss and husband, Phillip, Wichita, Karen Kay Malcom and husband, Larry, Haysville, Susan Jean Clanton and husband, Steve, Minneapolis, and Katherine Louise Finlay and husband, John, Shawnee; one brother, Robert Lee Cole, Marietta, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Fulton Cole, and three sisters, Helen Spague, Jeanette Frith and Frances Hune.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kitch Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal, with the Rev. Philip Shull presiding.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. The family will be present to receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Kitch Funeral Home.

LENORA BALLARD
PLAINS -- Lenora Ballard, 84, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at the Via Christi-St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born Nov. 1, 1915, to Herbert and Veva (Shemwell) Tabb at Elkton, Ky.
She married Woodrow R.A. Ballard June 6, 1937 at Elkton. He died Feb. 15, 1969.
She was raised in Elkton and graduated from Elkton High School. She had been a Plains resident since 1937. She was a tax preparer for H and R Block and a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, both of Plains.
Survivors include three daughters, Louise Howard, Velma Lucille Wilson and Lillian Simpson, all of Wichita; a sister, Model Morgan, East Helena, Mont.; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, William, Adrain and Roland; and one sister, Violet.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Plains, with the Revs. Vernon Maeizer and Dale Lewis presiding.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.
Burial will follow at the Plains Cemetery
in Plains.

GLADYS M. HARDING
Gladys M. Harding, 91, Liberal, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born March 26, 1908, to Samuel T. and Sarah F. (Smith) Hibler in Gerald.
She married Hugh Harding March 29, 1929, in Friends. He died Feb. 11, 1974.
She moved to Cullison in a covered wagon with her parents and later moved to Friends in Seward County. She attended school in Friends.
She farmed for many years with her husband and also worked at Ray's Grill. She and her husband owned and operated the grocery story in Woods for several years.
Survivors include five daughters, Phyllis Bromwell and husband, John, Liberal, Bonnie Schenkel and husband, Jack, Great Bend, Joy Elmore and husband, Monty, Liberal, Rose Hopewell, Liberal, and Carole Lightle and husband, Carl, Stratton, Colo.; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one son, one step-son and one grandson.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fellowship Baptist Church, with the Revs. L.K. Landis and Bill Prater presiding.
Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

TAMI WAGENSELLER
Tami Lynn Drum-Wagenseller, 40, Liberal, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born April 10, 1959, to Dean and Janice M. (Hockett) Drum in Liberal.
She married Gary Wagenseller Aug. 11, 1976, in Liberal.
She attended the Liberal school system. She was a mother and a homemaker.
Survivors include her longtime companion, Randy J. Schenkel; three daughters, Misti Reeves and husband, Steven, Plains, Christy and Nicole "Coey" Wagenseller, both of Liberal; her father, Liberal; her mother, Liberal; two brothers, Doug Drum, Moscow, and Todd Drum, Neosho, Mo.; one sister, Debbie Eikenberry, Moscow; and three grandchildren, Timothy Heathman, Kasie and Eric Reeves.
Funeral services will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Miller Chapel in Liberal, with the Rev. David Woods presiding.
Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday. The casket will remain closed.
INEZ (HOUGH) LOVAN
AMARILLO, Texas -- Inez (Hough) Lovan, 86, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, in Pratt.
She was born Dec. 19, 1913, in Hereford, Texas.
She married William J. Lovan June 7, 1941 in Amarillo, Texas. He preceded her in death.
She worked for Santa Fe in Amarillo for more than 30 years.
She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi and the Railway Business Ladies Association.
Survivors include Lori Jones, Pratt; Betty and Gene Jones, both of Liberal; Elizabeth Jones, Faith, S.D.; Virginia Dunlap, Austin, Texas; Susan Dunlap, Tulsa, Okla.; Barbara Johnson, San Antonio, Texas; Walter Dunlap, Austin, Texas; Bill Dunlap, San Antonio; Wildred Hough Brown, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; and Reese Hough, Amarillo.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Nell Lovan.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Llano Mausoleum Chapel in Amarillo, with the Rev. Marty Hamrick of Polk Street United Methodist Church presiding.
Burial will follow at the Llano Mausoleum in Amarillo.
The family suggests memorials to the donor's choice.
DONALD EARL KINGSLEY
DALHART, Texas -- Donald Earl Kingsley, 47, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Coon Memorial Hospital in Dalhart, Texas.
He was born in Dodge City and grew up in Jetmore, where he graduated from Jetmore High School.
He married Linda Neal June 8, 1974. She survives.
He attended Pittsburg College in Pittsburg and St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, where he received his degree in business and accounting.
He lived in Plains where he worked for Fowler Equity for many years. He was an active member of the Plains Friends Church.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting and working with computers and numbers.
He moved to Dalhart in 1995. He worked for Dalhart Consumers until his death.
Other survivors include one daughter, Casey Ames and husband, Shane, Guymon, Okla.; his parents, Earl and Cleo Kingsley, Ford; one sister, Belinda Plowman and husband, Greg, Dodge City; his father- and mother-in-law, James and Mary Neal, Dodge City; one nephew, Gregory Alan Plowman, Dodge City; and one grandson, Alyn Caden Ames, Guymon, Okla.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mandi Lynn Freeman, in 1988; and one brother, David Eugene Kingsley.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Plains Friends Church in Plains, with the Rev. Dan Biernacki presiding.
Burial will follow at the Plains Cemetery
under the direction of Hass Funeral Home in Dalhart.
