JAMES DANIEL ARCHER
MULBERRY, Ark. -- James Daniel Archer, 79, Mulberry, Ark., died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, in a Fort Smith, Ark., hospital.
He was born March 10, 1920, to Joe and Fannie (Edwards) Archer in Mulberry.
He was a retired oil field driller and a member of Free Will Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Bohon, Shelbyville, Ky., and Linda Lou Hesslen, Dyer, Ark.; nine sons, James Daniel Archer, Turpin, Okla., Lewis Archer, Altus, Ark.; Gary, Richard, Roy, Cecil and Carl Archer, all of Ozark, Calvin Archer, Fort Smith, and David Archer, Mulberry; three sisters, Thelma Johnson, Chester, Ark., Betty Shipp, Alma, Ark., and Vernita Smithers, Mulberry; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. C.G. Fisher officiating.
Burial will be at Piney Cemetery
north of Mulberry, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
ALFRED E. "AL" FLORES
Alfred E. "Al" Flores, 60, Liberal, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Liberal.
He was born Feb. 5, 1939 to Alfonso and Genivia (Ulibarri) Flores in Arkalon.
He came to Liberal in 1942 and entered the Liberal school system. He was employed at National Helium Corp., Liberal, and after his retirement, he became a security guard at the Larned State Hospital. Upon his recent return to Liberal, he was employed as a maintenance person at the Western-Ho Motel.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Liberal.
He married Diane Doerfler in 1959 in Liberal. He later married Jean Agee in 1974 in Liberal. He then married Mary Nix in 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Tony Flores, Wichita, and Marty Flores, Liberal; one daughter, Bridgett Flores, Liberal; four brothers, Alfonsono Flores, Phoenix, Joe Flores, Dick Flores, and Claude Flores, all of Liberal; five sisters, Ida Mae Lara, Wichita, Rosella Arellano, Newton, Teresa Humphery, Liberal, Melinda Compazano, McAllen, Texas, and Marie McNabb, Liberal; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Welcoming of the body will be at 3 p.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church, followed by prayer service at 7 p.m. today.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with the Rev. Henry Hildebrandt presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the church and from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
EMMET L. YEAGER
LIBERAL -- Emmett L. Yeager, 87, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at the Southwest Medical Center, Liberal.
He was born Sept. 10, 1912, to John and Flora (Crawshaw) Yeager in Covert.
He married Dolly M. Fry Jan. 26, 1935, in Dodge City. She survives.
He graduated from Covert High School. He later graduated from Fort Hays State University, earning a degree in industrial arts, and taught several years at Edson. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre in the U.S. Army.
He began a long career as a railway mail clerk from Kansas City to Tucumcari, N.M. for thirty plus years. After his retirement, he moved to Liberal in 1968.
He was instrumental in organizing the AARP chapter in Liberal in 1968 and served as the first president. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion, AARP and the Liberal Pancakers Camping Club. He was a ham radio operator for many years.
Other survivors include one son, Eldon E. Yeager, and wife, Aglae of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Kimberly Heard, Victor Yeager, Todd Yeager, and Joyce Yeager; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Tressie Moore, Farmington, N.M. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Chapel, with the Rev. Phil Shull presiding.
Burial will be at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at Miller Mortuary from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, and 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to First United Methodist Church in care of the Miller Mortuary, Box 826, Liberal, KS 67905-0826.
FRED E. SMALL SR.
MOSCOW -- Fred E. Small Sr., 72, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at Northwest Texas Hospital, Amarillo, Texas.
He was born Jan. 27, 1928 to Daniel E. and Mary E. (Reeves) Small in North Platte, Neb.
He moved from North Platte to southwestern Kansas in 1975.
He married Vickie Darlene Stelzig Aug. 6, 1976, in Sublette.
He was a trucker.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie Small, Moscow; six sons, Larry Small and wife, Chris, Satanta; Charles Small, North Platte; Fred Small Jr. and wife, Cyndee, Liberal; Robert Small and wife, Isidra, Hutchinson; Earl Small, North Platte, Julian Small, North Platte; one daughter, Kristi Van Hooser, and husband Earl, Johnson; one brother, Charles Small, Sutherland, Neb.; two sisters, Sylvia Coutts and husband, Jim, Richland, Wash., Mattie Chambers and husband, Harold, Centralia, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Vernon Small, one sister, Hazel Kramer, and one daughter, Macy Ellen Small.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Moscow Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Bradford presiding. Burial will be in the Moscow Cemetery, Moscow.
Friends may call at the funeral home 2-8 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

JUANITA VIOLET BEESLEY
HUGOTON -- Juanita Violet Beesley, 79, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hugoton.
She was born Sept. 19, 1920, to Leva and Bessie (Burrows) Beavers in Beavers Corner, Stevens County.
She graduated from high school in Florence, Colo., in 1939. She lived most of her life in Hugoton.
She was a schoolteacher in rural Hugoton, a homemaker and a Tupperware dealer.
She was a member of the First Church of God in Hugoton.
She married Walter Wade Beesley May 27, 1947 in Hugoton. He died Dec. 26, 1992.
Other survivors include four sons, Walter W. Beesley Jr., Hugoton, Royce L. Beesley, Newport, Ark.; James L. Beesley, Garden City; and Roger M. Beesley, Hugoton; one daughter, Peggy R. Rose, DeSoto, Texas; two brothers, Alvin Beavers, Liberal, and Melvin Beavers, Garden Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Alberta Willsey, Hugoton, and Leta Rose Bernard, Livonia, Mich.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Church of God in Hugoton with the Rev. Joe Downs presiding. Burial will be at the Hugoton Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to the First Church of God Building Fund in care of Paul's Funeral Home, 314 S. Van Buren, Hugoton.
ELLEN V. WILLIAMS
AUGUSTA -- Ellen V. Williams, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Augusta Medical Complex, Augusta.
She was born March 7, 1915, to John E. and Ollie Lea Moore in Kingston, Okla.
She married Amos Williams July 7, 1934, in Elk City, Okla. He survives.
She was a retired co-pastor of the Nazarene congregations.
Other survivors include her husband, Amos, three sons, Amos Williams Jr., Kansas City, Mo., Daniel Williams, Seminole, Okla., and David Williams, Roseville, Calif.; one daughter, Marcia Gorton Boston, Mass.; four sisters, Evelyn Lea, Borger, Texas, Loraine Groff, Hills, Texas, Violet Donoho, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Johnnie Fogo of Phelan, Calif.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at First Church of the Nazarene, with the Revs. Vern Haller and Larry Leonard presiding.
Burial was at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita.
LORRETTA MEYER
LIBERAL -- Loretta Meyer, 65, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at the Southwest Medical Center.

BETTY M. HANSON
Betty M. Hanson, 73, Liberal, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal.
She was born March 10, 1926, to Edward and Delia (LeClair) Beauregard in Clyde.
She graduated from Concordia High School in 1944 and moved to Liberal in 1951.
She was employed by Citizens State Bank in Liberal for 41 years and held various offices throughout her long tenure. She retired in 1997.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Church, Liberal.
She married Marion L. Hanson Aug. 8, 1945, at Concordia. He died Jan. 13, 1992.
Survivors include one son, Larry Hanson, Shreveport, La.; one daughter, Susan K. Gooch, Liberal; one brother, Leo Beauregard, El Dorado; one sister, Leda Desbrow, Ellsworth; three grandchildren, Jason Gooch, Dallas, John Gooch, Fort Collins, Colo., and Sara Gooch, Manhattan; and one sister-in-law, LaVeta LeDuc, Lincoln, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Chapel, Liberal, with the Rev. Henry Hildebrandt presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Miller Mortuary, Liberal.
