Wilhelmina "Mini" Hawes, 66, Roeland Park, Kan., died July 27, 2004, in Roeland Park. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Friends may call noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Maple Hill Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hawes was born Feb. 12, 1938, in La Habra, Calif.
Survivors include four sons, Ralph Jones, Chicago, Bill Jones, Roeland Park, and Ramon Jones, Mission, Kan., and Michael Jones, Olathe, Kan.; one daughter, Cynthia Brang, Dana Point, Calif.; two brothers, Ralph Guerrero, Winter Park, Fla., and the Rev. Michael Guerrero, Seattle; two sisters, Mercy Casey, Bonsall, Calif., and Dora Buchner, Whittier, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Ella (Sue) L. Hurley
Ella (Sue) L. Hurley, 61, passed away Friday, July 30, 2004, at her home. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at the Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. Sixth St. Cremation. Arrangements by the Skradski Funeral home.
Mrs. Hurley was born March 30, 1943, in KCK. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, LeRoy (Danny) Hurley, of the home; four children, Roger Bressman, Genevieve Stanfield, Pamela Noah and Mary McGee; one brother, Joseph Bressman; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Mary Alice Payne-Remy
Mary Alice Payne-Remy, 57, Kansas City, Kan, died July 27, 2004, at the Medicalodge North. Services will be noon Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Mason Memorial United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 4 at the church. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 19. 1946, in KCK.
Survivors include two brothers, Darryl M. Payne and Harry F. Payne, both of KCK; one sister, Rose T. Montgomery, KCK; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Eleanor Rosebud Rebeck
Eleanor Rosebud Rebeck, 79, Kansas City, Kan., died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Providence Place. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at the National Cemetery, Leavenworth. Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave. Arrangements by the Porter Funeral Home.
Eleanor was born Nov. 10, 1924, in KCK. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Rebeck.
Survivors include one son, David A. Rebeck; and one granddaughter.
Curtis B. Starnes
Curtis B. Starnes, died July 1, 2004, at Arannasas Pass, Texas. Private services will be in Topeka, Kan. Cremation.
He was born July 15, 1929, in Kansas City, Kan. He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother, and his parents.
Survivors include four children, Connie Ruby, Donald Starnes, Ronald Starnes and Kenneth Starnes; six brothers, Phil Starnes, Bob Starnes, Gene Starnes, Ed Starnes, Jim Starnes, Russ Starnes; five sisters, Edith Wells, Dorothy Mustar, Mary Garton, Joann Kinnetar and Alice Kimmel; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many friends.
William "Bill" White
William "Bill" White, 68, Bonner Springs, passed away Friday, July 30, 2004, at Overland Park Regional Center. Bill was a firefighter for more than 25 years with the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department, Stations No. 11 and 20, and retired as a captain. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of Holy Angel's Catholic Church.
Bill was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Sunflower Hills Seniors' League, a 20-year veteran worker for Sunflower Hills Golf Course, a 25-year-active member of the Sunflower Hills Men's Club. He was a former Wyandotte County Senior Champion and a member of the Greater Kansas City Classic League. He was also a Championship Bowler.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Mary L. White, of the home; one son, William James White, Lawrence, Kan.; three daughters, Sharon D. Novak, and husband, Steven R., Tonganoxie, Kan., Lorri D. Sudlow, and husband Peter, Lawrence, Julie Williams, and husband Robert, Overland Park; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Holy Angel's Catholic Church, 15440 Leavenworth Road, Basehor, Kan. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Meyers Family Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Parkway. The family suggests memorial contributions to the church's building fund.
Donald L. Allen
Donald L. Allen, 57, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at home. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave.
Donald was born Aug. 23, 1046, in Weaubleau, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Susan K. Allen, of the home; and one daughter, Ashley.
Mortez L. Armstrong
Mortez L. Armstrong, infant, Kansas City, Kan., died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Providence Medical Center. Services will be 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Kansas Chapel. Cremation.
He was born July 28, 2004, in KCK.
Survivors include his mother, Roychelle Carter, KCK; his father, Cortez L. Armstrong, KCK; three brothers, Tra'von Owens, Wendell Anderson III, and Kendell Anderson, all of KCK; and two sisters, Brianna Wilson and La'ion Carter, both of KCK.
Mary L. Baptist
Mary L. Baptist, 89, Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004. Graveside services and burial will be 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Mt. Calvary, 1150 N. 38th St., KCK. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Skaradski Funeral Home, 340 N. Sixth St., where the Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m.
Mrs. Baptist was born May 23, 1915, in Galesburg, Ill., and lived in the Kansas City area since 1934. She had been employed at Armour and Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1970.
She is survived by three children, John T. Baptist and Jane F. Rodabaugh, both of KCK, and George Baptist, Shawnee, Kan.; one brother, Joe Samirpa, Midwest City, Okla.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Georgia A. Carver
Georgia A. Carver, 81, Kansas City, Kan., passed away at Providence Medical Center on Aug. 1, 2004. She was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Oak Grove, Mo. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother. Georgia was a long standing member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, its Altar Guild, and one of the founders of the Food Pantry. She was a very active member of P.E.O. Chapter B.C., having held most of the offices, often more than once. She was currently vice president. She was also a member of Merry Etta, Friends of the Arts and the Leavenworth County Club.
Georgia was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Carver.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ray F. Carver, of the home; two sons, Craig Carver and wife Linda, Overland Park, Kan., and Kevin Carver and wife Francie, Plano, Texas; one grandson, David Davis Jr., and his family of Olathe, Kan.; one sister, Edna Schmidt, Raymore, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 18th Street and Washington Boulevard. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Meyers Family Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Parkway. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. The family suggests contributions in Georgia's memory to St. Pauls Episcopal Church.
John P. Ferbezar
John P. Ferbezar, 84, Kansas City, Kan., passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at KU Med Center. The funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Skradski Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or to St. John the Baptist Church.
Mr. Ferbezar was born on Strawberry Hill on Nov. 14, 1919. He was employed at Owens Corning Fiberglass Co. for more than 35 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. John's Senior Citizens Group. He was a World War II Army veteran and a recipient of the Silver Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Tony Ferbezar and brother, Frank Ferbezar.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary L. Ferbezar; two children, John A. Ferbezar and wife Karen, Deborah A. Quick; one sister, Stella Washick and husband Alvin; one brother, Karl Ferbezar and wife Dollie; two grandchildren, Matthew Jon Quick and Stacey Ann Quick.
After retirement, Mary and John enjoyed each other's company, fishing, estate sales and "going to the boats." He was a man of few words with a big heart and will be missed by all.
Marjorie A. Hayes
Marjorie A. Hayes, 82, Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Providence Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at the Cathedral of St. Peter. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Joseph A. Butler and Son Funeral Home, 19th Street and Minnesota Avenue, where the Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by five children, Marjorie Rusbarsky, Richard Adams, Deborah Owens, Tammy Schmidt, William Hayes; two brothers William Neath and Charles V. Neath; and two sisters, Rosemary Mogusar and Betty Hart.
Marina M. Hernandez
Marina M. Hernandez, 75, Kansas City, Kan., died Aug. 2, 2004, at Providence Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Marina M. Marina was born July 11, 1929, in Donna, Texas. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gertrudes L. Hernandez Jr. and Fernando Hernandez, and two grandsons.
Survivors include her husband, Gertrudes Lino Hernandez, of the home; 10 sons, Juan, Isabel, Reyes, Leon, Joe Daniel, Delmiro, Ramiro, Albert Lee, Valentino, Margarito; six daughters, Marie Dela Luz, Betty Jo, JoAnne, Marina Loenila, Cecilia Carmelita, Guadalupe; 61 grandchildren; 109 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Floyd E. McCord, 89, Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at his home. Floyd was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Kidder, Mo., and was a resident of Kansas City, Kan., for more than 75 years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, the Kansas City, Kan., Sertoma Club, and was a Scoutmaster for 25 years with the Boy Scout Troop No. 38. His wife, Cladyce H. McCord, preceded him in death on July 16, 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice E. McCord, KCK; one brother, Rex McCord, KCK; one sister, Velma Pikey, Springfield, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Arthur "Butch" Marshall Sr.

Phanetta P. Jennings-Moore

Orea Myers Jr.
Orea Myers Jr., 66, Kansas City, Kan., passed away July 31, 2004, at his home.
Orea was a military police officer for the Army, where he received many commendations for his service and retired after serving 22 years. He was also a security officer for Providence Medical Center for 13 years.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, Lucille Gray Myers-Lyles, father Orea Myers Sr., brother, Robert Lewis Myers and brother-in-law Tim Griffin.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Brenda Griffin-Myers; one daughter, Desiree Griffin-Myers; and a four-legged family member, Solo Marie Myers, all of the home; Aunt Senia Hundley, Mississippi; sisters, Pearl Myers-Wilson, Mississippi and Letha Lyles-Qualls, California; brothers, Marcus Lyels, North Carolina, and Alvin Myers, Mississippi; mother and father-in-law, Loris and Evelyn Griffin, Princeton, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Paula R. Green, Overland Park, Kan., and Cindy Lahmann, KCK; brother in-law, Jim Lahmann, KCK; and five nieces.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, both at the Meyers Family Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Parkway.
