Michael C. Lichtenberger
Funeral services for Michael C. Lichtenberger, 44, Kansas City, Kan., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Meyers Family Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Parkway.
Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at 94th and State Avenue. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, 6800 W. 93rd St., Overland Park, Kan. 66212.
Mr. Lichtenberger died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001 at Providence Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1957, in KCK, and was a life-long area resident. He had been in the grocery business for 25 years, the past 10 years with Cosentino's Price Chopper. He was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marsha Lynn Lichtenberger.
Surviving are three sons, Joe Lichtenberger, Jeff Lichtenberger and Jake Lichtenberger, one daughter, Jenna Lichtenberger, all of KCK, his parents, Carl and Betty Lichtenberger, KCK, one brother, Thomas Lichtenberger, Lenexa, Kan.; and his former wife, Megan Lichtenberger, KCK.
Mary L. Mann
Private inurnment for Mary L. Mann, 76, Prairie Village, Kan., will be held. The Joseph A. Butler & Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Mann was born Oct. 23, 1925 in Lawrence, Kan., to Harold and Matilda Longenecker. She was a graduate of The Barstow School and attended Gulf Park College, Gulfport, Miss. She graduated from the University of Kansas where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was employed by the U.S. State Department and was stationed at embassies in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and Stockholm, Sweden. She was later a court reporters in Kansas City, Mo., and Kansas City, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Mann, in December of 2000.
Surviving are one sisters Louise Stephanou, Laguna Hills, Calif., two nieces and one nephew.
Charles A. Syrus
Funeral services for Charles A. "Joe" Syrus, 64, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Lukes A.M.E. Church, 800 N. 12th St., KCK.
Burial will be in Sunset Gardens. Friends may call 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Mr. Syrus died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was employed by Risk International. He was a member of the church.
Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth Syrus, KCK; one son, Charles Allen Syrus Jr. of Oklahoma; four daughters, Sandra D. Nelson, KCK, Chairmain Jones, Denver, Colo., Harriet Syrus, Aurora, Colo., Loretta Syrus of Oklahoma; one step-son, George Bell Jr., Macon, Ga.; four step-daughters, Brenda Richardson, Thelma Bell, Geraldine Bell and Barbara Bell, all of KCK; two sisters, Alberta Frye, Carson, Calif,; Nettie Turner, KCK; three brothers, William Syrus, KCK, the Rev. Jethro Syrus, Muskogee, Okla.; and Robert Syrus, Tallahassee, Okla., and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Christie E. Williams
Funeral services for Christie E. Williams, 93, Bonner Springs, Kan., will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rehm's Park Baptist Church in Bonner Springs.
Burial will be in Bonner Springs Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Alden-Harrington Chapel in Bonner Springs. The family suggests memorials to Rehm's Park Baptist Church, Garfield and Pratt, Bonner Springs, Kan., 66012.
Mrs. Williams died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001 at the home. She was born Oct. 6, 1908, in Attica, Ark. She was a charter member of the Rehm's Park Southern Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Thomas Williams, two sons, Connard Eugene Williams and James Chester Williams; two grandsons, Jimmy Hand and Corey Williams.
Surviving are two sons, Odell Williams, Oskaloosa, Kan., Jerry Williams, Bonner Springs; three daughters, Irene Hand, Bonner Springs, Carolyn Sneed, Bonner Springs, and Shirley Weir, Tonganoxie, Kan., a daughter-in-law, June Williams; 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Frances E. Stevens Bellamy
Funeral services for Frances E. Stevens Bellamy, 84, Oskaloosa, Kan., will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Oskaloosa United Methodist church.
Burial will be in the Winchester-Wise Cemetery

Mrs. Bellamy died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at the Manor Nursing Home in Kansas City, Kan. She was born Aug. 14, 1917 at Easton, Kan. She was a homemaker and farmer for many years in the Winchester and McLouth area with her first husband. She was caretaker of the Winchester -Wise Cemetery
for many years and served as a bus driver for the Jefferson County Senior Service Organization for seven years. She was a member of Oskaloosa United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 36 in Oskaloosa.
She attended Easton High School. She married Claude Ray STeven in 1933. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1991. She then married Elza D. "Ed" Bellamy on Sept. 11, 1990. He preceded her in death Aug. 2, 2001.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Eugene Stevens and Dale Stevens; three brothers and a sister.
Surviving are two sisters, Elsi Jennings, Auburn, Kan., and Velma Walker, Topeka; two step-sons and two step-daughers, including Terah Wieland of KCK, 10 step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
Joseph Collins
Funeral services for Joseph Collins, 70, Kansas City, Mo., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Blue Ridge Boulevard Chapel.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel.
Mr. Collins died Sunday, Oct. 25, at Baptist Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. He was born in Kansas City, Kan., and was a lifelong area resident. He attended Northeast Junior High and Sumner High School. Until his retirement, he was a sanitation worker for Kansas City, Mo.
Surviving are one brother, James Collins; three sisters, Thelma Overton, Geraldine Whatley, all of Kansas City, Mo., and Willa M. Manning of KCK.
Claude E. Hays
Funeral services for Claude E. Hays, 67, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Highland Park Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Maywood Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City.
Mr. Hays died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at the home. He was born in Commerce, Okla., and lived in New Mexico before moving to KCK in 1997. He was a commercial truck driver. He was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a Mason.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Baglien, Clovis, N.M., Karon Smith, Portales, N.M., one brother, Vernon Hays, KCK; three sisters, Sandra K. Brewer and Joyce Jeffery, both of KCK, and Lucille M. Ufford, Paola, Kan.; and two granddaughters.
Brinda Sue Luttrell
Funeral services for Brinda Sue Luttrell, 50, Brighton, Colo., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Charter Funeral and Chapel in Merriam, Kan.

Mrs. Luttrell died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at Aurora Medical Center South in Aurora, Colo. She was born Feb. 16, 1951 to Thomas and Nora Morse in Jonesboro, Ill. She lived in Kansas City, Kan., most of her life.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Unrein, of the home; three sons, Larry Luttrell Jr. and Harry Luttrell of Brighton, and Adam Luttrell of KCK, one daughter, Nora Hernandez, KCK; her mother, More Morse, KCK; one sister, Rosemary Humphrey, KCK; and 11 brothers, Luther, Phillip, Arthur, Rocky, Marvin, David, Michael, Patrick and James Morse, all of KCK, Jack Morse, North Kansas City, Mo., Timothy Morse, Winfield, Kan.; and four granddaughters.
Mary Ann L. McDonald
Funeral services for Mary Ann L. McDonald, 70, formerly of Kansas City, Kan., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Ottawa, Kan.

Mrs. McDonald died Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, Kan. She was born Jan. 15, 1931 in KCK, to Frank and Josephine Fehrenback. She graduated from Washington Rural High School and the Johnson School of Business in KCK. She married William Philip McDonald on July 12, 1952. She worked as an executive secretary at several area firms including Spencer Chemical Co. (Gulf Oil), H.O. Peet and Co., McLaughlin and Co., and several area law offices. She retired in 1986. She was a lifelong area resident before moving to the Garnett area in the early 1990s.
She was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and in 1977, her husband.
Surviving are one son, Phil McDonald, Pacifica, Calif., two brothers, Fred Fehrenback, Ottawa, and Don Fehrenback, Chandler, Ariz., and two granddaughters.
THOMAS L. PLEAS SR.
The Rev. Thomas L. Pleas Sr.
Funeral services for the Rev. Thomas L. Pleas Sr., 98, Kansas City, Kan., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, 2106 Quindaro Blvd.

The Rev. Pleas was born Feb. 16, 1903 in Lexington, Miss., to Charles and Vallie Pleas. He grew up in Chicago, Ill. He attended school in Memphis, Tenn. He married Elberta Cummings Robertson in 1934. They moved to KCK in 1936, when his father, Bishop Charles Pleas, overseer of Kansas COGIC, appointed him pastor of Armourdale COGIC. He later served as pastor of Olivet COGIC in Bonner Springs, Kan., and Emmanuel Temple COGIC in KCK. He retired in 2001. He served four terms as chairman of the National Pastors and Ministers Council of COGIC. He received a citation of special commendation for his contributions as champion of the Religious Workers Guild of COGIC International. In 1964 he received a Doctor of Divinity degree from the Illinois Baptist School of Religion and Theology. He served as co-chairman of the National Baptist Churchmen Committees against discrimination. In 1968 he served as the editor of The National Informer, a COGIC newspaper. He served under three Wyandotte County mayors as a member of the Citizen's Advisory Board; the Committee on Black Affairs; the Civil Service Commission Police Board and the Ministerial Alliance of Kansas City, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Jacqueline Louise, and his wife.
Surviving are four daughters, Wilma Robertson Greenfield, Washington D.C., Verdis June Johnson and Vivian Marie White, both of KCK, Bertra Gates, Mission, Kan.; one son, Thomas Lewis Pleas Jr., Kansas City, Mo.; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives.
Opal Mae Kephart Bays
Graveside services for Opal Mae Kephart Bays, 79, Lenexa, Kan. will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday at the Valley Cemetery, Neosho County, Kan.
Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kan., and from noon-2 p.m. Monday at the Carson-Wall Funeral home, 112 N. 26th St., Parson, Kan.
Mrs. Bays died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, in Lenexa. She was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Ladore, Kan (rural Parsons, Kan.) to Omer H. Kephart and Lota M. Wilkerson and was raised by her paternal grandparents Josiah D. Kephart and Sarah E. McGuire. She married Everett L. Bays in 1941. The couple moved from the Parsons area to Kansas City, Mo., they also lived in Chicago, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. She worked in retail sales and was employed by Chasnoff's (Mo.), Cover Girl (Ill.), Strawbridge & Clothier (N.J.), and Robinson's (Calif.) and Dillards in Overland Park, Kan. The couple returned to the Kansas City area after her Everett Bays retired. She was a member of the Crossroads Church in Overland Park.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990, an infant daughter, Linda Marie, in 1944; a brother, Ned Wayne Kephart; and a sister, Mary Lou Reynolds.
Surviving are two sons, Philip Bays, Lenexa, and David Bays, KCK; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Wendy Keith-Bell
Services for Wendy M.K. Keith-Bell, 52, Kansas City, Kan. ,will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Miracle Temple COGIC, 2106 Quindaro, KCK.

Mrs. Keith-Bell died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was born Feb. 10, 1949 in KCK. She was a school teacher for the KCMO school district for 27 years.
Her father, Raymond "Doc" Keith and step-son, Marcus P. Bell preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, Rev. Paul L. Bell, of the home; mother, Alice M.K. Keith, KCK; one brother, Charles R. Keith, Los Angeles, Cali; three sisters, "Peaches" Mansfield, Raynett S. Rainey, Kathy Scott, all of KCK.
Louis G. Brim
Services for Louis G. "Red" Brim, 79, Gladstone, Mo., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., KCK.

Mr. Brim died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001 at White Oak Manor. He was born May 10, 1922 in KCK. He was a mechanic for TWA for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He served in the United States Army, during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Betty L. Brim, of the home., daughter, Kathy Thrasher; sister, Lilly Montoya; niece, Mary Kaufman, and a grandson, all of KCMO.
