John "Hondo" Henderson
John "Hondo" Henderson, 50, of Wichita, formerly of the Burden-Winfield, Kan., area, died Monday, June 17, 2002, at his home. John had been battling cancer and prayed to win.
John "Hondo" Henderson was born Sept. 9, 1952, in Winfield to Ralph Henderson and Neva (Stuber) Henderson. He was raised at Burden on the family farm-ranch. John graduated from Burden High School and Wichita University as a music master.
John was a renown musician for his complete knowledge and sound of music. He was well known for his music, singing and bass playing. He performed on television and radio and in concerts, and was a great entertainer.
John's Big Fin Band entertained all over. He was a great musician, singing, teaching and sharing his knowledge to all. John was known as Hondo in the music world.
John was a computer whiz. He was associated with Miller Music for several years and then Gateway Computers. He was a great instructor and made learning easy, if it was music or computers.
John was a very kind, understanding, knowledgeable person who was always there to be of help.
Survivors are his two sisters and two brothers, Connie Andes, Jacob "Sonny" Henderson and Ralph Henderson, all of Winfield, and Sarah Martin of Udall; and his partner, Brad Reha of Wichita.
Services will be Friday, June 21, at 2 p.m. at the College Hill United Methodist Church, 2930 E. First, Wichita. John was a member of the College Hill United Methodist Church.

Helen Wykes
CALDWELL -- Helen Wykes, 85, retired school cafeteria manager, died Saturday.
Survivors -- sons, Don Wykes of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Bruce Wykes of Conway Springs; daughter, Betty Lee of Caldwell; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services -- 1 p.m. tomorrow, Elliott-Schaeffer Mortuary Chapel, Caldwell. Interment -- Caldwell City Cemetery.

Edna Frankie Fitts
Edna Frankie Fitts, 103, homemaker, lifelong resident of Argonia, Kan., died early Thursday morning, Jan. 2, 2003 at her home in Argonia.
She was born the daughter of Herman Weishaar and Wanda (Laske) Weishaar on August 5, 1899 in Argonia, Kan.
On December 25, 1919, she and Gordon Fitts Sr. were united in marriage in Argonia. He died in September of 1974.
Edna enjoyed many things, including tatting and crocheting doilies and afghans for her family and friends. She made well over 50 afghans. Her home and family were her life.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Asa Edward Fitts.
Survivors include her son Gordon Fitts Jr. of Argonia; daughter, Letha Saunders of Wellington; grandchildren Mike Saunders and his wife Kelly of Lafayette, Colo., Susan McNeil and her husband Mike of Argonia, Shelleen Green and her husband Mac of Lavaca, Arkansas, Greg Fitts and his wife Mary Jane of Murphy, Texas and Danny Fitts and his wife Monica of Conway Springs; twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Edna will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at the Friends Church in Argonia. The Reverend Clarence Lanier and The Reverend Mike Neifert will officiate. Interment will be in the Argonia Cemetery, Argonia.
Friends may call at the Day Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, and from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5.
A memorial has been established in her name and loving memory with the Friends Church, 202 North Pine, Argonia, KS, 67004. Contributions may be mailed or left at the funeral home.

Robert Everett Biddle
Robert Everett Biddle, 68, of Burden, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Thelma Marie Capps.
Survivors include three sons, Justin Biddle of Clearwater, Kan., Lance Biddle of Ellinwood, Kan., Lawton Biddle of Council Bluff, Iowa; three brothers, Richard Biddle of Winfield, Kan., Art Biddle of Wellington, Kan., Jack Biddle of Arkansas City, Kan.; sister, Kathy Bellis of Arkansas City, Kan. and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Kan. Interment will be at the Oxford Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, contributions may be left at the funeral home.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Kenneth Hood
Kenneth Hood, a resident of Cushing since 1991, passed away on Sunday evening, August 17, 2003 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 68 years. The son of the late Don Hood and Rhoda Smith Hood, Kenneth was born on November 4, 1934 in Chandler, OK and was reared and educated in Chandler. He was united in marriage to Sharon Gilges on June 7, 1970 in Conway Springs, Ks. The couple has lived in Wellington, Kansas for several years prior to coming to Cushing. Kenneth had worked as an oilfield service worker/pumper most of his life, and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany. He was a longtime member of the VFW; was a gifted craftsman; he loved playing the guitar, watching football and watching movies and recording them for his grandkids. Survivors include his wife Sharon of the home; four children, Kenneth Hood and his wife Bobbi of Sallisaw, OK, Chris Hood and his wife Christine of Cameron Park, CA, Dana Kay Greenfeather and her husband Aaron Slate of Sallisaw, and Sharon Cooper and her husband Jim of Wichita, KS; two brothers, William "Buddy" Hood and his wife Joyce of Red Bluff, CA and Glen Hood and his wife Deloris of Cushing; three sisters, Lavon Selcer and her husband Don and Patsy Simpson all of Chandler and Judy Jones and her husband Fred of Cushing; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Rachel Morrow and Dana Smith; one Nephew; one great nephew and one great great neice. Graveside services will be held on Thursday morning, August 21, at 10 a.m. in the Oak Park Cemetery

Frank M. Carr
Frank M. Carr, 99, of Wellington, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at the Cedar View Good Samaritan Center. He had retired as a Santa Fe conductor after 42 years of service.
Carr was born May 23, 1900, in Colwich, to William L. and Alice L. (VanHorn) Carr. He married Nola E. Underwood on May 11, 1920 in Anthony.
She preceded him in death in 1983.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, NARVE and the United Trainmen Union.
He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and one infant child.
Survivors include his son, Arlis, and his wife, Dolores Carr, of Wellington; his daughter, Aileen, and her husband, Jack Butters, of Winfield; one brother, Merle Carr of Valley Center; one sister, Mildred Baringer of Attica; four grandchildren, Steven, Susan, James and John; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28, at the Frank Funeral Home in Wellington. Pastor Sallie Shore, of the First Christian Church, will officiate.
Interment will be in Sumner Memorial Gardens.
Memorials have been established with Multiple Sclerosis or the First Christian Church. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Linda Lou Milliren
Linda Lou Milliren, resident of Belle Plaine, Kan., died Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 16, 2000, at the Sumner Regional Medical Center, Wellington, Kan. She was 54 years of age.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Hillside East funeral Chapel in Wichita, Kan., with Monsignor John Gilsenan presiding. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hawks Funeral Home, Wellington.
Linda was born Dec. 3, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of Francis and Violet Dudley.
She is survived by two daughters, Candace Milliren, Belle Plaine, and Kim Bruno and husband, Matt, Wichita; and one granddaughter, Ashlynn Bruno.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Dale Milliren.
