Earlena M. Krepps

Earlena M. Krepps, 89, La Cygne, died Friday, March 4, 2005, in North Point Skilled Nursing Center in Paola.
The daughter of Jesse and Sadie Dum Cox, she was born May 18, 1915, near La Cygne. She was a graduate of La Cygne High School.
She married Kenneth Johnson in 1937 and they became the parents of two children.
In 1962, she married Iva Krepps. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1975.
Mrs. Krepps worked as a cook in the La Cygne school district and also as a waitress.
She was a member of the La Cygne Christian Church and a past member of the La Cygne Historical Society.
Others preceding her in death included a brother, Francis Cox, and one grandson, Bryan Lee Johnson.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Johnson; a daughter, Gearldine Stroud of Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday in Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in La Cygne. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery
in La Cygne.

Esther F. McClintic
JULY 19, 1903 - MARCH 5, 2005
Esther F. McClintic, 101, Paola, a Rantoul native, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, in North Point Skilled Nursing Center in Paola.
She was born July 19,1903, in Rantoul, one of the six children of James Riley and Dora M. Bloomer Rodgers. She grew up in the Rantoul area and graduated from Rantoul High School.
She and William McClintic were married Nov. 18, 1922, in Ottawa. They became the parents of three sons. After their marriage, they lived in Franklin, Miami and Anderson counties, including Ottawa, Garnett, Osawatomie, Fontana and Richmond. They also lived in Schuyler, Neb., for a number of years before moving to Paola. Her husband died in 1998.
Mrs. McClintic worked for Mode O'Day and J.C. Penney's, both in Ottawa.
Three sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her three sons, Roger McClintic of Paola, Bill McClintic of La Cygne and Jerry McClintic of Columbus, Neb,; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Monday at Highland Cemetery
in Ottawa.

Norman Dean Barber
DEC. 23, 1926 - APRIL 30, 2005
Norman Dean Barber, 78, La Cygne, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, in Olathe Medical Center.
The son of Hugh and Sybil Stewart Barber, he was born Dec. 23, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo.
After completing his high school education, he joined the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years of service.
He and Thelma Odean were married Oct. 25, 1956. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 1984.
Mr. Barber was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Kansas City.
Survivors include his aunt, Darline Lawton of Independence, Mo., and three cousins.
Services were today in Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in La Cygne. Burial was in Mount Moriah Cemetery
in Kansas City, Mo.

Clyde Brownback
DEC. 12, 1908 - MAY 1, 2005
Clyde Brownback, 96, Garnett, formerly of Centerville, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, in Anderson County Hospital in Garnett.
He was born Dec. 12, 1908, in Centerville, the son of William and Josie Browning Brownback.
On Feb. 11, 1940, he and Shirley M. Drake were married in Centerville. She preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 1992.
Mr. Brownback was a farmer and stockman. He was a past member of Grange and was involved in 4-H work.
Others preceding him death included a daughter, Josie Lorene Jackson, who died Nov. 23, 1995; his son, Marion Leroy Brownback, who died April 10, 2002; a sister, Alice Smith; and three brothers, Otis Brownback, Orville Brownback and Earl Brownback.
Survivors include a son, Burton C. Brownback of Centerville; two daughters, Marylou Kinder of Parker and Laurel Elliott of Overland Park; a brother, Leo Brownback of Mound City; a sister, Doris Erhart of Bucyrus; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services were today in the Centerville Community Church, followed by burial in Centerville Cemetery.

George T. Doherty
APRIL 8, 1917-APRIL 26, 2005
George T. Doherty, 88, lifelong Paola resident, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, in North Point Skilled Nursing Center in Paola.
He was born April 8, 1917, in Paola, the son of Ed and Maud Baurer Doherty. When he was 2 years old, his mother died, and his father later married Bessie Smith. He attended school in Paola and lettered four years in football.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1938 and served in the European Theater during World War II. When asked how long he was in the Army, he would always reply "eight years, 10 months and eight days."
He and Winona Beets were married Dec. 13, 1944, in California. After the war was over, they moved back to their hometown of Paola. They became the parents of five sons and a daughter. His wife preceded him in death.
Mr. Doherty went to work driving a truck for Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. and worked for the company for 27 years before retiring.
He was an active member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Paola. He served as commander of the VFW in 1974 and 1975.
He loved to fish, hunt and drive. His children said they once went on vacation to western Kansas and the same evening, he decided to drive back home.
Others preceding him in death were two sons, David Doherty and Larry Doherty; a grandson, Jason Doherty; a brother, Earl Doherty; a half brother, Jim; and a sister, Mary Bucklew.
Surviving are his three sons, Ron Doherty, Mike Doherty and Tom Doherty, and a daughter, Karen Wiggin, all of Paola; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services were Friday in Wilson and Son Funeral Home in Paola. Burial was in Paola Cemetery.

Marie M. Feuerborn
JULY 12, 1905 - MAY 1, 2005
Marie M. Feuerborn, 99, Garnett, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, in Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett.
She was born July 12, 1905, in Temple, Okla., the daughter of Joe and Katherine Hastert Benus. She spent most of her life in the Garnett area where the family moved while she was still a child.
She and Anthony J. Feuerborn were married Aug. 27, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1988.
Mrs. Feuerborn was a homemaker and a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church of Garnett and Spring Branch Club.
Others preceding her in death were five brothers and a sister.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Feuerborn of Garnett and Jerry Feuerborn of Salina; two daughters, Shirley Elgin of Kansas City, Mo., and Alice Schill of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one granddaughter.
Services were Tuesday in the church with burial in Holy Angels Cemetery, both in Garnett.
