Fanny Oliver
CEDAR VALE – Services for Fanny Oliver were held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 18, 2002, at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Stanley Upchurch officiated. Burial was in Cedar Vale Cemetery.
The congregation sang “Power in the Blood” and “Mansion Over the Hilltop.” Pianist Evelyn Upchurch and vocalist Stanley Upchurch performed “Safe in the Arms of Jesus.”
Casket bearers were Roger Rutter, Jeff Raymond, Todd Bruno, Kelly Buck, Steve Dale and Jacob Rutter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home Activity Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
Wheeler Funeral Home of Cedar Vale was in charge of arrangements.
Rocky Laxson
WICHITA – Rocky M. Laxson, 47, of Wichita, died Dec. 5, 2002, at St. Paul's Health Center in Denver.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Udall Cemetery. Smith Mortuary of Derby is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with St. Paul's Health Center.
Laxson was born Dec. 27, 1954, in Wichita, to Ora Lee (Goff) and Loraine D. Laxson.
He worked as a mechanic and painter.
Survivors include his mother, Ora Lee Laxson, Wichita; a brother, Keith Laxson, Udall; six sisters, Elaine Stewart, Nedra Hendrickson, Debbie Bush and Coeta Laxson, all of Wichita, Carol Meldrum, Alpine, Utah, and Becky Watson, Orem, Utah; a half-brother, Darrel Laxson, Stillwell, Okla.; and a half-sister, Noema Karecher, Harleyville, Pa.
Neila Poshek
DERBY – Dr. Neila A. Poshek, 78, of Derby, died Dec. 17, 2002.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Highland Cemetery
at Winfield. Friends may call at Smith Mortuary, Derby, until 8 tonight.
A memorial has been established as the Dr. Neila Poshek Nursing Education Fund.
Poshek was a daughter of Clair and Golda Wood. She received her bachelor's degree from Southwestern College, her master's degree from the University of Washington in Seattle and her doctorate from the University of Tulsa.
Poshek served as dean of nursing at the University of Tulsa, Georgia College of Medicine and Boise State University.
Her husband, John Poshek, died in 1973.
Survivors include a brother, Duane C. Wood, Oklahoma City; and three sisters, Nada Wood-Dolloff, Wichita, and Lois M. Clifton and Joy R. Nafziger, both of Derby.
Bertha Harris
BURDEN – Bertha Louise Harris, 92, of Burden, died Dec. 17, 2002, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Wellington.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Burden Baptist Church. Burial will be in Burden Cemetery.
Friends may call at Wheeler Funeral Home until 8 tonight.
Harris was born Sept. 29, 1910, in Fayette, Wis., to Beulah (Briniger) and Webb Penniston of Darlington, Wis. She moved to Burden as a young adult.
On Sept. 26, 1936, she married Carrol Harris in Winfield. They lived in Burden most of their married lives.
A homemaker, Harris was a member of the Burden Baptist Church and the Kansas Authors Club.
An infant son, Charles, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Carrol Harris, Burden; two daughters, Wanda Rigsby, Houston, and Jeanie Krug, Wichita; a son, Jim Harris, Winfield; a brother, Clyde; and three sisters, Betty and Marilyn, Wisconsin, and Isabel, New Mexico; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Bob Harding
Services for Bobby G. “Bob” Harding were held at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 19, 2002, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Ken Davidson officiated. Burial was in Oxford Cemetery.
Nedra Musgrove and Bwana Drennan performed “Wings of a Dove” and “It Is Well with My Soul.” “Behind the Moon” was sung by Tex Ritter.
American Legion Post 10 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3544 performed military graveside services.
Casket bearers were Garrett Harding, Rob Jarvis, Sean and Seth Manske, Richard Wheaton and Jim White.
Memorials have been established with the First Assembly of God church and the Winfield Wrestling Club.
Charles Branson
Services for Charles L. Branson were held at 10 a.m. Dec. 19, 2002, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Tom Boese officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
American Legion Post 120 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3544 performed graveside ceremonies.
Steve Abrams sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Rock of Ages.” The congregation sang “How Great Thou Art.”
Casket bearers were James and Mike Crow, Ben Karr and Jim, John and Steve Stoabs.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart & Lung Association.
Anne Rohrbach
OKLAHOMA CITY – Anne Rohrbach, 78, of Oklahoma City, died Dec. 14, 2002, at her home after a lengthy illness.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday in Resurrection Cemetery
Chapel.
A memorial has been established with Mercy Hospice.
Rohrbach was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mary and Eugene Bollinger.
She and Eugene Rohrbach were married Dec. 26, 1955.
Retired from the Hertz Reservation Center in 1990, Rohrbach was a 44-year member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Eugene Rohrbach, Oklahoma City; four children, Martha Stevenson, Winfield, Joseph Rohrbach, Jean Holt and James Rohrbach; four sisters, Margie Schellhase, Mary Hurt, Helen Brannon and Nancy Wilson; and six grandchildren.
George Smith
UDALL – George T. Smith, 65, Udall, a retired Rock Grain Elevator employee, died Dec. 18, 2002.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Udall High School gymnasium. Burial will be in Udall Cemetery. Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home, Douglass, is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with USD 463, in care of the Bank of Commerce, 119 W. First, Udall, KS 67146.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Smith and Bryan Smith, both of Udall; a daughter, Debbie Zimmerman, Arkansas City; his stepmother, Olena Hilyard, Douglass; a brother, Pat Smith, Esbon; four sisters, June Elstun, Mulvane, Mary Lou Griffith, Esbon, and Dorothy Handlier and Betty West, both of Fort Collins, Colo.; a stepbrother, Brent Hilyard, Douglass; and a stepsister, Cheryl Griggs, El Dorado.
Bertha Harris
Services for Bertha Louise Harris were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Burden First Baptist Church. The Rev. Ryan Carpenter officiated. Burial was in Burden Cemetery.
The congregation sang “Amazing Grace” and “Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus.”
Tammy Carpenter was the vocalist and Wanda Mackey the organist for special music.
Honorary casket bearers were Harris's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Charles Harris, Robert Harris, Jack Harris, Donnie Harris, John Lawson and Bob Lawson.
Memorials have been established with Alzheimer's and Related Diseases and the Burden First Baptist Church.

Danny Lee
ARKANSAS CITY – Danny Lee, 65, of Arkansas City, died Dec. 19, 2002, at his home.
Cremation has been effected. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Lee was born April 18, 1937, to Lostie (Tanner) and James Lee. He was mentally handicapped all his life.
For a number of years he was at Focus Developmental Services in Winfield, and then in 1991 he moved to Arkansas City under the care of Twin Rivers Developmental Services.
He is survived by the staff and his friends at Twin Rivers.
Hazel Felker
HESSTON – Hazel F. Wamsley Felker, 87, of Hesston, formerly of Rock, died Dec. 21, 2002, at Showalter Villa in Hesston.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Rock United Methodist Church. Pastors Corey Miller and Karen Andres will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery
in Wichita.
Friends may call at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The family will greet friends from 7 to 9.
A memorial has been established with the Prairie View United Methodist Church.
Felker was born Dec. 9, 1915, in Rock, to Carrie (Davis) and Elmer Groom.
In 1933 she married Darrel Wamsley in Newton. He died in 1962.
On May 28, 1967, she married Carrol R. Felker in Rock. He died June 7, 2000.
Felker received a bachelor's degree from Southwestern College in Winfield and a master's degree from Wichita State University. She taught in rural schools in Butler, Cowley and Greenwood counties for nine years and in Caldwell for 26 years.
Felker played violin for the Wichita Symphony.
Survivors include a daughter, Edna Lee Withiam, Hesston; three stepdaughters, Nancy Buettner, Grand Junction, Colo., Sherry Webb, Van Buren, Ark., and Rochelle Geisdorf, Rogers, Ark; a stepson, Larry Felker, Wichita; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
