Charolette Elliott
CEDAR VALE – Services for Charolette Elliott were held at 2 p.m. Aug 17, 2002, at Wheeler Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold Tucker officiated. Burial was in Belknap Cemetery.
Evelyn Upchurch was the organist, and Mary Alice Allison was the vocalist.
Casket bearers were Burt Hawkins, Howard Ralph Hawkins, Stan Bracken, Alfred Burdette, John Carter and Jack Heath.
A scholarship has been established in Elliott's name at Cedar Vale High School.
Lawrence Myers
SHAWNEE, Okla. – Lawrence N. Myers, 85, of Shawnee, died Aug. 16, 2002, at his home.
Services were to be at 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. The Rev. Glen Pence officiated.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Merrill's Marauders Association.
Myers was born May 8, 1917, in Nowata County, Okla., to Perry Franklin and Stella Gertrude (Davis) Myers. He grew up in Nowata County and graduated from Childress High School.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Merrill's Marauders, a military group that preceded the Rangers.
On May 31, 1952, he married Earleta Frazier in Seminole, Okla. They had lived in Shawnee since 1956.
Myers was employed by Phillips 66 for approximately 30 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Merrill's Marauders Association.
Survivors include his wife, Earleta Myers, Shawnee; a daughter, Paula Wolfe, Edmond, Okla., formerly of Winfield; three sisters, Ruth Scott, Tulsa, Thelma Gibson, Nowata, and Mildred Morgan, Orange, Texas; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Doc Anderson
DEWEY, Okla. – Dr. Otis Floyd “Doc” Anderson, 89, formerly of Winfield, died Aug. 16, 2002, at Forrest Manor Nursing Center, Dewey.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Elmdale Cemetery, Florence. The Rev. Robert Word will officiate. Arnold Moore Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be today and Tuesday at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established with Jane Phillips Hospice. Contributions may be sent to Bluestem Foundation, 3500 S.E. Frank Phillips Boulevard, Bartlesville, Okla. 74006.
Anderson was born Feb. 3, 1913, at Concordia, to Earl Vinton and Pearl Blanche (Hiner) Anderson. He attended schools in Douglass and El Dorado and graduated from El Dorado High School in 1932.
On Dec. 2, 1932, he married Emma Ruth Simpson at Eureka.
Anderson graduated from Kansas Chiropractic College, Wichita, and was in private practice in Winfield from 1946 until retiring in 1994.
The Andersons moved to Dewey after retiring. His wife died July 26, 2002.
Andersons was a member of the Winfield Masonic Lodge AF&AM 110.
Survivors include his daughter, Sonyia Stone, Dewey, Okla.; his son, Steven Floyd Anderson, Arkansas City; two brothers, William Anderson, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Earl Anderson, Olathe; a sister, Blanche Anderson Pullis, Loveland, Colo.; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Geraldine Voth
WICHITA – Geraldine Anna Voth, 77, of Wichita, died Aug. 18, 2002.
The Trisagion will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, and the Rosary will be at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, both at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Orthodox Christian Church. Burial will be in Kingman Mennonite Cemetery.

Voth was born April 5, 1925, in Nashville, Kan., to John and Frances (Linnebur) Greiving.
She was a business owner, property investor and independent product distributor.
Survivors include her husband, Harley Voth, Wichita; two sons, Randall Voth, Wichita, and Joseph Voth, Topeka; two daughters, Janie Fritzler, El Dorado, and Mary Leah Read, Ardmore, Okla.; three brothers, Norbert Greiving, Nashville, Adelphus Greiving, Cimarron, and Orville Lee Greiving, Wichita; four sisters, Alvina Mulnix, Denver, Louella Fairchild, Los Alamitos, Calif., Aquina Stonestreet, Collinson, and Adela Mae Becker, Enid, Okla.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Verna Post
UDALL – Verna Lee (Decker) Post, 65, died Aug. 19, 2002, at her home in Udall.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Mortuary in Wichita.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Specialty Dog Service, 124 W. Seventh, Washington, KS 66968.
Post was born April 27, 1937, in Wichita to A.E. “Bud” and Verna Mae Decker.
She was owner of Sit-Stay Kennel at Udall.
Survivors include her hsuband, Roger Post, Udall; two sons, Marshall Post and Mitchell Post, and her parents, all of Wichita; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Honey Shawn
LOCUST GROVE, Okla. – Louise “Honey” Shawn, 75, of Locust Grove, died Aug. 18, 2002, at Magnolia Manor Care Center, Lexington, Okla.
Services were scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel, Purcell, Okla., with the Revs. Larry Herrin and Johnny Ore officiating. Burial was in Citizen Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Okla.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Shawn was born Feb. 13, 1927, in Purcell, Okla., to Ernest and Hetta Mae (Jordan) Harper. She grew up near Konowa, Okla.
On June 12, 1945, she married Homer Edward Shawn in Maud, Okla. They lived in various Kansas and Oklahoma communities. After her husband's retirement, they moved to Wagoner and Chouteau, Okla. He died Dec. 8, 1992.
She moved to Locus Grove in 1999.
Survivors include a son, Tommy Dwight Shawn, Pryor, Okla.; four daughters, Sonja Putman, Burden, Melinda Sue Herrin, Wayne, Okla., Pat Moore, Norman, Okla., and Phyllis Anderson, Blackwell; two sisters, Eva Inez Green and Wynema Merrell, both of Konowa, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Thomas Dicken
ABILENE – A memorial service for Thomas Dicken, formerly of Winfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Danner Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Frasier will officiate.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Chapman Valley Manor.
Survivors include his wife, Ada Dicken, Chapman; two daughters, Sheila Collins, Cleveland, Ohio, and Linda Mayden, Abilene; a son, David Dicken, Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Charles Hendricks
Charles A. Hendricks, 72, of Winfield, died Aug. 20, 2002, at William Newton Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery
at Independence.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 7 this evening.

Hendricks was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Oxford, to Alfred and Laura (Hibbs) Hendricks. He was raised in the Winfield area and graduated from Winfield High School in 1947.
On June 13, 1954, he married Barbara Sherman in Winfield.
Hendricks was employed by Valley Wholesale Flower Co. in Wichita from 1969 until retiring in 1992. He moved to Winfield in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hendricks, Winfield; a son, Ty Hendricks, Wellsley Chapel, Fla.; a daughter, Toma Aasen, San Diego; a brother, Dan Hendricks, Winfield; two sisters, Jeanne Weikal, Bucklin, and Marcia Hammons, Henderson, Nev.; four grandsons and four stepgranddaughters.
Adolfo Ramirez
ARKANSAS CITY – Adolfo Ramirez, 85, of Arkansas City, died Aug. 10, 2002, at Medicalodge North Post Acute Care Center.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father John Brungardt officiating. Marcia Stultz was the cantor.
Music included “On Eagle's Wings,” “Be Not Afraid,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Here I Am, Lord,” “Ave Maria” and “Amazing Grace.” Organists were Karen Pontious and Martha Brandenburg.
Military honors were conducted by Spencer-Ralston Post 1254 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Riverview Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Michael Gonzales, David H. Daulton Jr., Damien Murelio, Patrick Ramirez, Greg Ramirez and Ken Park.
Memorials have been established with the Cowley County Humane Society and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ramirez was born Aug. 4, 1917, in Arkansas City, to Ambrosio and Petra (Padilla) Ramirez. He grew up in Arkansas City and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
On July 18, 1942, he married Esperanza “Hope” Camarena in Perry, Okla., and they resided in Arkansas City.
Ramirez worked for the Santa Fe railroad and for Rodeo Meat Packing Co. for 33 years before retiring in 1979.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Spencer-Ralston Post 1254 of the VFW and Shelton Beaty Post 18 of the American Legion.
Survivors include his companion, Lucy Hernandez, Arkansas City; four sons, Paul, Raymond and Charles Ramirez, all of Arkansas City, and John Ramirez, Wichita; a daughter, Patricia Park, Colorado Springs, Colo.; five sisters, Lucy Mora, Josephine Rodriguez, Mary Contreras and Frances Murelio, all of Arkansas City, and Rita Gonzales, Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1988, son Anthony Patrick and daughter Mary Ann.
