Donna Johnson
WICHITA – Donna Elaine Johnson, 56, of Wichita, formerly of Winfield, died Feb. 13, 2002.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Broadway Mortuary Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to KZZD-ZFM, 1600 W. 40th North, Wichita, KS 67204.
Johnson was owner of and a teacher at Sonshine House Child Day Care in Wichita.
Survivors include two sons, Bud Cook, Wamego, and Will Fortier, Wichita; a daughter, Jalynne Inkelaar, Andale; and six grandchildren.
Mary Jo Wrampe
Services for Mary Jo Wrampe were held at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 13, 2002, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Revs. Cliff Muci and Dennis King officiated. Burial was in Atlanta Cemetery.
Alberta McChesney was the pianist. Mary Lou Ashcraft sang “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” and “When They Ring the Golden Bells.”
Honorary casket bearers were Jason and Megan Blackburn, Gaylene, Sandra and Sherri Holt, and Dana and Jarrod Wrampe.
Casket bearers were Edgar Clark, Dorsey Couch, Joe Haggard, Joe Hall, Bob Kearns, Skip Redford, Dan Taylor and J.A. Withrow.
Memorials have been established with the Douglass Christian Church and Atlanta Fire Department First Responders.
Vera Yardley
ARKANSAS CITY – Vera M. Yardley, 88, of Arkansas City, died Feb. 11, 2002, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at Hawks Funeral Home until 5 this evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church through the funeral home.
Yardley was born Feb. 11, 1914, in Bolton Township, to Iona (Mountjoy) and Frank Hadley. She graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1933 and from Southwestern Bible College in Enid, Okla., in 1936.
On April 14, 1940, she married Melvin Yardley in Arkansas City. He died Dec. 19, 1983.
A homemaker, Yardley was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two sons, David Yardley, Bartlesville, and Stephen Yardley, Lake Kiowa, Texas; five grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
Audrey Sharp
Audrey Fern Sharp, 67, of 1201 Menor, Winfield, died Feb. 12, 2002, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Miles Funeral Service. Private inurnment will take place Friday afternoon in Protection.
Memorials have been established with Feed the Children and the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Sharp was born Sept. 13, 1934, in rural Douglass County, Mo., to Bonnie (Short) and George Percifield. She attended school in Protection.
Sharp was employed at Protection Manor as a certified medication aide for several years. She later moved to Winfield and in 1982 began working at Winfield State Hospital & Training Center as a mental health technician. She retired from the hospital in 1993.
A homemaker, Sharp was a member of the First Christian Church of Protection and later attended the First Foursquare Church in Udall.
A son, Larry Dean Sharp, died in 1982.
Survivors include four sons, Ronald Tucker and John Sharp, both of Winfield; Randy Tucker, Fitchburg, Mass., and Rusty Sharp, Brady, Texas; four daughters, Rhonda Johnson, Rose Tovar and Kelly Sharp, all of Winfield, and Kathy Sharp, El Dorado; her mother, Bonnie Percifield, and a brother, Paul Percifield, both of Protection; five sisters, Barbara Maloney, Midland, Texas, Betty McClure, Houston, Annalea Sanders, Protection, Connie Watkins, Kinsley, and Judy Bramlett, Coldwater; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Keith King
HOWARD – Keith F. King, 53, of Howard, West Elk superintendent of schools, died Feb. 13, 2002, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the West Elk High School gymnasium. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Highland Cemetery
at Iola. The Revs. Kibum Kim and Marty Dewitt will officiate.
A memorial has been established as the Brian H. King Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home or the Howard State Bank.
King was born March 19, 1948, in Houston, to Carolyn Jeanne (Fischer) and Delbert “Dub” Hall King. He grew up in Baldwin City and graduated in 1970 from Baker University where he was active in Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
On Aug. 8, 1970, he married Joanne Elizabeth Rowe in Prairie Village.
During the Vietnam War, King served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a physical science teacher at Washington High School from 1970 to 1971 and taught biology at Shawnee Mission Northwest from 1973 to 1978.
King was high school principal in Howard from 1978 to 1981, then moved to Iola where he served as high school principal for 16 years. In 1994 he was named State Educational Administrator of the Year, and in 1995 he was voted Principal of the Year in Kansas Area 2.
In 1997 King and his family returned to Howard where he was serving as West Elk superintendent of schools. He also was active in the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne King, and a son, Brian King, both of Howard; a daughter, Erin King, Mission; and two brothers, Jim King and Chris King, both of Baldwin City.
Paul Lynn
EAGLE LAKE, Texas – The Rev. Paul Lynn, 56, of Eagle Lake, pastor of the Eagle Lake and Garwood United Methodist churches, died Feb. 7, 2002, at Rice Medical Center in Eagle Lake following a sudden illness.
Services were at 11 a.m. Feb. 9 at the Eagle Lake United Methodist Church. The Revs. Don Delaplain, Bernie Sandberg and Eddie Winkler officiated.
Cremation followed the service, and burial will be later in Winfield. Dulaney Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Lynn was born Oct. 27, 1945, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Jean (Everhart) and Francis Lynn. On Feb. 3, 1967, he married Helene Dunn in Winfield.
Lynn had served the United Methodist Church of Eagle Lake and Lehrer Memorial United Methodist Church in Garwood for three years. He had also been a pastor at other churches, including the Howard and Severy United Methodist churches.
Survivors include his wife, Helene Lynn, Eagle Lake, Texas, and a daughter, Jenny Lynn, Rosenberg, Texas. Celestine Allen, Winfield, is his mother-in-law.
Ruth Benjamin
HALSTEAD – Ruth Aline Benjamin, 88, of Halstead, formerly of Belle Plaine, died Feb. 13, 2002, at the Halstead Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hatfield-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Belle Plaine. Burial will be in Belle Plaine Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials have been established with Hospice Care of Kansas and with Halstead Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Benjamin was born Jan. 23, 1914, in Grenola, to Mabel (Moore) and Willis Logsdon.
On March 11, 1939, she married Delmar Ray Benjamin. He died Jan. 17, 1989.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald Benjamin, Burrton, Royce Benjamin, Williamsburg, Va., and Randy Benjamin, Valley Center; two daughters, Karen Roper, McPherson, and Marsha Gay Peterson, Wichita; a brother, Doyle Logsdon, San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
William Phillips
WICHITA - William Forrest Phillips, 86, formerly of Howard, died Feb. 13, 2002, at the Kansas Masonic Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard. The Rev. Don Harper will officiate. Carter-Rader American Legion Post 149 will conduct military ceremonies in Grace Lawn Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with St. Jude Children's Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Phillips was born Jan. 18, 1916, in Enid, Okla., to Mollie Belle (Flock) and Russell Alger Phillips. At a young age, he moved with his family to Fall River and attended rural schools there.
In 1940, Phillips joined the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific Theater in Papua, New Guinea, and the East Indies during World War II.
After his discharge in 1945, he returned to Kansas and was employed for many years at Brown's Feed Store and Adron Hebb's Garage and Service Station in Howard. He later moved to Wichita where he was employed as a machinist for Cessna Aircraft. He retired in 1985.
Phillips was a 50-year member of Carter-Rader American Legion Post.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Campbell, Ponca City, and Colleen Dewey, Independence.
Audrey Sharp
Services for Audrey Fern Sharp were held at 10 a.m. Feb. 15, 2002, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Lyle Bolen officiated.
Private inurnment will be held in Protection Cemetery.
Music included "Amazing Grace," presented by Bolen, "On the Wings of a Dove," "Jesus Loves Me" and "Jesus Will Still Be There."
Memorials have been established with Feed the Children and the Cowley County Humane Society.
Dan Stone
ABILENE, Texas - Dan Stone, 85, of Abilene, formerly of Udall and Wellington, died Feb. 6, 2002, at a local nursing center.
Services were held Feb. 10 in Abilene. Burial was in Cottonwood Cemetery
near Cross Plains, Texas.
Stone was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Udall, to Olive and Frank Stone. In 1937 he married Joy Helen Batt in Shawnee, Okla.
He was employed by Halliburton for 45 years and retired as district superintendent.
In 1992 he moved from Wellington to Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Stone, and a son, Tiff Stone, both of Andrews, Texas; three daughters, Joyce Breeding and Amy Rutherford, both of Abilene, and Sandee Smith, Lubbock, Texas; two brothers, Oliver Stone, Arkansas City, and Roy Stone, Rogers, Ark.; two sisters, Amy Geist, Wichita, and Dorothy Winburn, Memphis, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
