Chuck Randall
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Everett Charles “Chuck” Randall, 51, of West Sacramento, formerly of Chapman, died Feb. 7, 2002.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Londeen Funeral Chapel in Chapman. Dr. Dick Marrs will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery
of rural Oxford at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Gale Cynova will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home until service time. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 tonight.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dickinson County through the funeral home, Box 429, Chapman, KS 67431.
Randall was born Oct. 14, 1950, in Junction City, to Margaret Jean (Sleeth) and Wendell Omer Randall. He attended Chapman schools.
Randall worked as a trucker for an Abilene company before moving to Arizona where he lived for several years. He later moved to California and had worked for D.C. Trucking in the Sacramento area for 21 years.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Jean Zumbrunn, Chapman; three sisters, Elainea Cynova, Junction City, Betty Stevenson, Hope, and Kate Boyd, Chapman; and friends, David and Dolores Cervantes and family, West Sacramento.
Julia Kehr
MERCED, Calif. – Julia Ann Kehr, 88, of Merced, formerly of Udall, died Feb. 8, 2002.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon, Mo. Friends may call at the funeral home immediately before the service. The Rev. Fred Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Udall First United Methodist Church and Udall First Responders.
Kehr was born March 19, 1913, in Cole County, Mo., to Nora Lee (Landrum) and George Francis Bruto. She was educated in Missouri schools and worked for several years as a telephone switchboard operator in Jefferson City, Mo.
On Sept. 26, 1936, she married Lionel Kehr in Whittier, Calif. He died Feb. 27, 1995.
Kehr and her husband worked in several family-owned businesses in Kansas, Missouri and Iowa. They lived in Udall from 1939 to 1945 and returned in 1950. She moved to Merced in July 2001 to be near her daughter.
Kehr was a member of the Udall United Methodist Church and Udall Seniors Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Baker, Atwater, Calif.; a sister, Marjorie Sparks, Fulton, Mo.; two granddaughters, four great-grandchildren and a special friend, Janie Ketchum, Udall.
Lynnie Samms
JUNCTION CITY – Lynnie Ray Samms, 78, of Junction City, died Feb. 9, 2002, at Salina Regional Medical Center.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Chapel. Nate Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Riley Cemetery
with full military honors.
A memorial has been established with the First Southern Baptist Church, 1220 W. Eighth, Junction City, KS 66441.
Samms was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Indianapolis. He was adopted by Jesse Ray and Nannie (Holbrooke) Samms, and his stepfather was Arthur M. Harrison. The family was from the Winfield area.
On March 10, 1946, he married Junice Herbel March in Durham.
Samms was employed as a signalman in the U.S. Army and retired after 30 years of service. He then became a locksmith.
Samms was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, American Legion, Eagles Club, TREA and citizens police. He had also been a weather watcher and Scout leader.
Survivors include his wife, Junice Samms, Junction City; a daughter, Nancy Leiber, Oregon; a son, Gary Ray Samms, Junction City; and three grandchildren.
Gladys Brown
A memorial service for Gladys V. Brown was held at 10 a.m. Feb. 11, 2002, at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield. The Rev. Jerre Nolte officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Virginia Karaus
WATERVLIET, Mich. – Cloyce “Virginia” Karaus, 63, of Watervliet, died Feb. 5, 2002, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Services were held Feb. 8 in Watervliet City Cemetery. The Rev. John Sternaman officiated. Casket bearers were Raymond Douglas, Duane Sherrard, Lewis Evans, Travis Mack and Rick Mack.
Karaus was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Leachville, Ark., to Geneva (Owens) and Lewis Howard Evans.
A homemaker, she had lived in Michigan for 25 years. On June 29, 1990, she married Gustave C. Karaus in Benton Harbor, Mich.
Two children, Teddy Barker and Jerriann Barker, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Gustave Karaus, Watervliet; three daughters, Catherine Sherrard, Winfield, Jody Hoddy, Ponca City, and Ginger Nave, Wichita; two sons, William Barker, Hutchinson, and Mikkel Barker, Grand Rapids, Mich.; her mother, Geneva Evans, Coloma, Mich.; two sisters, Elsie Marie Keifer, Kaufmer, Texas, and Theresa Mack, Benton Harbor, Mich.; a brother, Lewis Evans Jr., Coloma, Mich.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
George Duncan
Services for George W. Duncan were held at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 11, 2002, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Rick Hathaway officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Sandy Yount was the organist, and Carolyn Harrison was the vocalist.
Honorary casket bearers were Rick Meyer, John Bredehoft, Ed Landwehr and Joe Yount.
Casket bearers were Herbert and Phillip Bruce, David and Martin Ray, Earl Miller and Larry Oglesby.

Maud Grant
CEDAR VALE – Services for Maud Loverne Grant were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 11, 2002, in Cedar Vale Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Bever officiated.

John Brundridge
SEDAN – John A. Brundridge, 96, formerly of the Wauneta area, died Feb. 11, 2002, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Sedan.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Round Mound Cemetery
east of Cedar Vale.
Friends may call at Wheeler Funeral Home of Cedar Vale from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Brundridge was born March 7, 1905, in Nevada, Mo., to Maud (Gamel) and David Brundridge. He was raised and educated in Missouri.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
In the early 1950s, he married Blanche Harris. She died in 1983.
Brundridge farmed in the Wauneta area.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Francis Harris, Sedan, and a sister-in-law, Velma (Harris) Howard, Augusta.
Lorene Duncan
Services for Lorene Hazel Duncan were held at 10 a.m. Feb. 12, 2002, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Jerre Nolte officiated. Burial was in Wilmot Cemetery.
Special music was “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden.”
Casket bearers were Duncan's grandsons, Michael, Rob and Ron Duncan, Brian and Kevin Jordan and Drew and Neil Yellen.
Isabella Bowser
FREDONIA – Isabella Milessa Bowser, 93, formerly of the Fall River community, died Feb. 10, 2002, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fredonia.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard. Owen Oliphant will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery
near Fall River.
A memorial has been established with the Fall River Happy Hour Club. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Bowser was born Dec. 4, 1908, in Eureka, to Lillie May (McCartney) and Jesse Noakes. She attended schools near Fall River, New Albany and Fredonia.
On Sept. 18, 1926, she married John Lindelow Bowser at her parents' home near New Albany. She and her husband owned and operated the farm five miles south of Fall River that had been in his family since 1891. Her husband died Jan. 12, 1998.
A homemaker, Bowser was a longtime member of the Grange and a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Fredonia and the New Albany Baptist Church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Howard and also attended the Fall River Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Eugene Bowser, Greeley, Colo.; a brother, Jesse Curtis Noakes, Dewey, Okla.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
