Clark Hutton
DEXTER - Clark Leslie Hutton, 49, died Oct. 5, 2000, at his home near Dexter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church. Pastor Norman Reeves will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Hale Cemetery
near Sedan.
A memorial has been established with the Prairie View Christian Camp Chapel Fund, Arkansas City. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.
Hutton was born Jan. 11, 1951, in Sedan, to Dorothea Ellen (Harding) and Lee Darrel Hutton. He graduated from Sedan High School in 1969.
In 1971 he married Sharlene Joy Teague. This marriage later ended.
Hutton completed the farm and ranch management program at the vocational-technical school in Tyro and served his internship near Golden, Colo. He returned to the Arkansas City area and was employed by Ark Valley Feeders, the Santa Fe Railroad and L.G. Pike Construction Co.
On April 27, 1990, he married Marty Sue (Martz) Peel in Sedan.
He was employed as a ranch hand for many years and was recently employed at the Larry Reeves ranch near Dexter.
Hutton was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marty Hutton, Dexter; four sons, Chase Hutton, Dexter, Chance Hutton, Cove, Ore., Samuel Hutton, Fort Benning, Ga., and Michael Wadleigh, Bartlesville; five daughters, Cassidy Hutton and Tamie Peel, both of Dexter, Claudia Hutton, Arkansas City, Dallas Quinton, Cypress, Texas, and Susie Wadleigh, Bartlesville; his mother, Dorothea Hutton, and his sisters, Sharon Blankinship and Dianna Hutton, all of Sedan; and five grandchildren.
Margaret Hayes
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Margaret Barr Hayes, 70, of Virginia Beach, died Oct. 7, 2000, at her home.
Survivors include her daughter, Andrea Foster, Wichita, and her sister, Pat Crawford, Winfield.
Miles Funeral Service will announce arrangements.
Clarence Brannum
SUMMERFIELD, Fla. - Clarence D. "Clancy" Brannum, 74, of Summerfield, died Oct. 9, 2000, in Leesburg, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Combs Chapel, 61st at Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Mo. Dr. George Gordon will officiate. Hiers Memorial Chapel, Lady Lake, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.

Brannum was born May 28, 1926, in Winfield.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army.
A Kansas State University alumnus, he was a star center for K-State's basketball team from 1948 to 1953. From 1953 to 1955 he played professional basketball for the Wisconsin Redskins. He was also a former golf pro.
Brannum retired as a building inspector for the state of Indiana and moved from Syracuse, Ind., to Florida in 1994.
He was a member of American Legion Post 347, Lady Lake, Fla., and Spruce Creek Over the Hill Gang.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Brannum, Summerfield, Fla.; four daughters, Sharon Cyphers, Fairway, Marcia Tungate, Tustin, Calif., Lynn McClean, Carmichael, Calif., and Teri Kofod, Mount Vernon, Ohio; a stepson, Ron Kennedy, Delphi, Ind.; two brothers, Robert Brannum, Marshfield, Mass., and Paul Brannum, Woodlands, Texas; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Lucile Littrell
CEDAR VALE - Lucile M. Littrell, 76, of Cedar Vale, died Oct. 9, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Ozro Falls Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with Cedar Vale Community Hospital and the First Baptist Church.
Friends may call at Wheeler Funeral Home Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m.
Littrell was born April 16, 1924, in Cedar Vale, to Alice (Duensing) and Erle M. Sweaney. She was raised and educated in Cedar Vale and graduated from Cedar Vale High School in 1941.
On Dec. 23, 1950, she married Lloyd Kenneth Littrell. He died in 1962.
A retired vice president of the Cedar Vale State Bank, she was a member of the First Baptist Church and a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include three sisters, Shirley Brown, Cedar Vale, Evelyn Wiggins, Russell, and Betty Layton, Howard.
Winfred Shivers
CONCORDIA - Winfred Roy "Nuke" Shivers, 80, of Concordia, died Oct. 7, 2000, at Salina Regional Health Center.
Services were to be at 2 p.m. today at Nutter Mortuary Chapel in Concordia. The Rev. Kelly Sipes officiated. Burial was in Delphos Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Shivers was born April 28, 1920, east of Delphos, to Mary Catherine and William Preston Shivers. He attended grade school east of Delphos, graduating in 1937. He then attended vocational school in Lincoln, Neb., and worked in shipyards in Baltimore, Md., until being called into service in World War II. He served in the Pacific for 26 months.
On Jan. 3, 1942, he married Mildred A. Parks in Abilene.
A longtime farmer, Shivers retired in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Shivers, Concordia; three daughters, Mary Torrez, Winfield, Sue Adams, Beloit, and Lelia Kagle, Salina; five sons, William Shivers, Morganville, Richard Shivers and Gregory Shivers, both of Abilene, Jeryld Shivers, Fort Collins, Colo., and Douglas Shivers, Garden City; a brother, Raymond Shivers, Cherryvale; a sister, Claudena Manual, Northridge, Calif.; 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Betty Gilbert
LATHAM - Betty I. Gilbert, 79, longtime resident of Latham, died Oct. 10, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Latham United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Brownlow Cemetery
north of Latham.

Gilbert was born Jan. 15, 1921, on a farm near Latham, to Bessie (Baldwin) and Harry Amlong. She was raised in Latham and graduated from Latham High School in 1938. She moved to Wichita where she worked for Cessna Aircraft.
On July 21, 1961, she married Harley Dean Gilbert in Miami, Okla. They made their home in Wichita for several years. She retired from the electronics department at Cessna in 1970 following 20 years of service.
The Gilberts moved to Latham in 1972. She had resided at Lakepoint Nursing Center in Augusta since May 1998.
A member of the Latham United Methodist Church, she was formerly affiliated with the Order of Eastern Star. She was one of the organizers of the Latham Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Dean Gilbert, Latham; a daughter, Karen Jones, Wichita; a sister, Lonnie Kelly, Winfield; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Margaret Hayes
BLADENSBURG, Md. - F. Margaret Barr Hayes, 70, of Bladensburg, died Oct. 7, 2000, in Virginia Beach, Va., at the home of her niece, following an extended illness.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for George and Margaret Hayes will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Miles Funeral Service. Inurnment will be later in Highland Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with Building Fund 2000 at Second Baptist Church in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Hayes was born Dec. 19, 1929, in Winfield, to Ruby (Norwood) and Gilbert Barr Jr.
Raised in Winfield, she married George Arlyss Hayes in Newkirk, Okla., and they made their home in Bladensburg. He died in August.
Hayes attended cosmetology school in Chicago, then changed careers to become a nurse's aide. After her retirement from health care, she worked as a trainer and cashier at various horseracing tracks.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Bladensburg and became a deacon in February 1998. She was also president of the church choir.
Survivors include a daughter, Andrea Foster, Wichita; and a sister, Pat Crawford, Winfield.
Juvene Allison
GRENOLA - B. Juvene Allison, 62, longtime resident of Grenola, died Oct. 10, 2000, at her home following an extended illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grenola United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Allison was born March 5, 1938, in Winfield, to Elsie (Manahan) and George Fitzhugh Hawley. Raised in Cambridge, she graduated from high school in 1956.
On Jan. 1, 1957, she married Max Allison in Cambridge. They made their home in Grenola.
A homemaker, she stayed at home with her children until they were grown. In 1972 she went to work as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Grenola. In 1980 she became postmaster and remained in that position until her retirement in 1999.
Survivors include her husband, Max Allison, Grenola; a daughter, Theresa Jones, Burden; a son, Doug Allison, Andover; two sisters, Shirley Gardner, Winfield, and Lorna Reed, Leesville, La.; two brothers, Joe Hawley, Midwest City, Okla., and Richard Hawley, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and four grandchildren.
