Louis Hall
A memorial service for Louis Hall was held at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 31, 2000, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Revs. Rick Hathaway and Fred Darkow officiated. Sandy Yount was the organist, and the Trinity Lutheran School Rejoice Choir sang.
Burial of the ashes was in Mount Vernon Cemetery
in Cowley County.
A memorial was established with the Trinity Lutheran School Scholarship Fund.

Lawrence Brown
ARKANSAS CITY - Lawrence F. "Brownie" Brown, 80, of Arkansas City, died Aug. 31, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Parker Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Keith will officiate.
Family visitation with friends will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Brown was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Silverdale Township to Grace (Brown) and Fred Brown. When he was two, his mother married Clyde Moore who helped raise him after his father was killed in a fire.
On Nov. 11, 1939, he married Phyllis E. Meyer. They lived in various cities, including Wichita, Pittsburg and, since 1973, Arkansas City.
Brown was a supervisor for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, was a supervisor for National Sales and later worked as an inspector for Cessna Aircraft until retiring in 1983. He then worked for Rakies Oil for 10 years.
A World War II veteran, he was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Brown, Arkansas City; two daughters, Saundra Quintero and Belle Evinger, both of Arkansas City; two sisters, Wanda Burdick, Pittsburg, and Nadine Walker, Arkansas City; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
William Jacobs
CEDAR VALE - William "Bill" Jacobs, 60, of Cedar Vale, died Aug. 31, 2000, at Cedar Vale Community Hospital.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pine Ridge, S.D. Burial will be in Manderson Cemetery.
Wheeler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jacobs was born Oct. 21, 1939, in Pine Ridge, S.D., to Josephine (Jumping Eagle) and Charles Jacobs.
On Aug. 2, 1985, he married Virginia Marsh.
He had worked as a manufacturing engineer at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Jacobs, Wichita; a son, Mike Jacobs, South Dakota; a daughter, Leslie Rose Jacobs, Cedar Vale; three brothers, Oliver Jacobs, California, and Ronald Jacobs and Chuck Jacobs, both of South Dakota; a sister, Shirley Kolb, California; and eight grandchildren.
Karen Mages
SPEARVILLE - Karen Marie Mages, 27, of Spearville, died Aug. 30, 2000, in an automobile accident east of Kinsley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Spearville. The Revs. Bob Schremmer and Marvin Reif will officiate. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ashland. Friends may call at Myatt Funeral Home in Ashland from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
A memorial fund for her children's education has been established. Contributions may be made at the Stockgrowers State Bank, Ashland, or the Ford County State Bank or the First National Bank, Spearville.
Mages was born July 17, 1973, in Belleville, to Esther (Posusta) and Donald White. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1991 and from Fort Hays State University in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in graphic design. She became a member of the National Honor Society in 1991. In both high school and college she won many awards for her graphic designs.
On June 4, 1994, she married Jonathan Andrew Mages in Ashland.
She worked as a graphic designer at Southwestern College for two years, on the Southwesterner and on other campus projects. Before working at Southwestern she had worked at T.R. Sports in Hays.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Spearville.
Survivors include her husband, Jon Mages, and children, Afton Mages and Andrew Mages, all of Spearville; her parents, Don and Esther White, and a brother, Frank White, all of Ashland; a sister, Jennifer White, Lawrence; and her grandparents, Frank and Helen Posusta, Lucas.
Eldon Allender
HARPER - Eldon E. Allender, 84, retired owner and operator of Allender Welding, Harper, died Sept. 2, 2000, in Enid, Okla.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Harper Cemetery. Elliott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association.
Allender was born April 5, 1916, in Rago, to Alice (Reida) and Frank Allender.
On Aug. 13, 1938, he married Elno Parsons in Kingman. She died May 24, 1985.
Survivors include his companion, Donna Wilcox, Aline, Okla.; a son, Wayne Allender, Argonia; a daughter, Janice Worley, Cleo Springs, Okla.; three sisters, Leona Liddeke, Norwich, Emmalee Kraus, Kingman, and Lavon Parsons, Rago; five grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Floyd Barkman
Services for Floyd Jacob Barkman were held at 10 a.m. Sept 2, 2000, in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Skip Johnson officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
June Vasey was the organist. Grandsons Mark Barkman and Nick Barkman sang "The Lord's Prayer."
American Legion Post 10 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3544 provided military graveside ceremonies.
Casket bearers were Rod Decker, Justin Barkman, Mark Barkman, Nick Barkman, Mike Borgmeyer, Ryan Friesen and Joel Gunderson.
Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and Hospice Inc.
Jan Cooper
ELK CITY - Janice Elaine "Jan" Cooper, 54, of Elk City, died Sept. 1, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Elk City Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Terry Marta will officiate. Burial will be in New York. Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc.
Cooper was born March 21, 1946, in Auburn, N.Y., to Dorothea Virginia (Smith) and Charles Darwin Seamans. She grew up in Auburn where she attended West High School.
In October 1963 she married Clifton R. Cooper in Auburn where they made their home. For several years she worked for Smith-Corona Corp., then worked many years at a Chrysler Corp. auto assembly plant in Syracuse, N.Y. She moved to Elk City in 1994 and was employed at the Custom Grill in Independence.
Her husband and a daughter, Bonnie Sue Cooper, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, William Cooper, and a daughter, Carolyn Hedges, both of Elk City; three brothers, Charles Seaman, Elk City, Robert Seamans, Theresa, N.Y., and James Seamans, Auburn, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.
Charlotte Macy
LONGTON - Wilma Charlotte Macy, 72, of Longton, died Sept. 2, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Longton Cemetery. The Rev. Don Foster and Linda McCrary will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas State University Center for Basic Cancer Research. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.
Macy was born Feb. 14, 1928, in Fredonia, to Florence and Virgil "Bud" Young. When she was a child, the family moved to Elk County where she attended Longton schools.
In 1948 she moved to Wichita and married Harold Brotherton. The marriage later ended.
For 27 years she worked at Cessna Aircraft Co.
On June 23, 1972, she married Ronald Dean Macy in Wichita. They moved to Longton in 1995.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald Dean Macy, Longton; three sons, Robert Brotherton, Wichita, Gene Brotherton, Sarasota, Fla., and Jeff Macy, Wichita; three daughters, Linda Wilson, Udall, Miranda Macy, Longton, and Tammy Macy, Washington; a sister, Ellouise Rowe, Longton; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Cheryl Brotherton, preceded her in death.
