Dale Church
WELLINGTON - Dale Weedman Church, 87, of Wellington, died Aug. 16, 2000, at Walnut Hill Nursing Center in Winfield.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ. Stanten Sikes will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery
in South Haven.
Friends may call at Frank Funeral Home until 9 tonight. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7.
Memorials have been established with the Church of Christ and Beaver Creek Village.
Church was born March 23, 1913, in Holyrood, to Daisy Fae (Weedman) and Phillip Church.
On Aug. 13, 1936, he married Anna Coelene Ditmore in Arkansas City.
Mr. Church was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Coelene Church, and two sons, Dale Wayne Church and Larry Joe Church, all of Wellington; a daughter, Judith Kay Beat, Wichita; a sister, Melba Knox, South Haven; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Vivian Lock
ARKANSAS CITY - Vivian G. Typer Lock, 72, of Arkansas City, died Aug. 15, 2000, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hawks Funeral Home. Private burial of the ashes will be held in Hatch Cemetery
in Uniontown.
Lock was born April 1, 1928, in Savonburg, to Velma (Cook) and Robert Earl Typer.
She was a cook at several Arkansas City restaurants but had been retired for many years.
Survivors include her daughters, Betty Jeanne Rentschler, Kansas City, Kan., Marilyn McCord, LaHarpe, and Lori Mosley, Arkansas City; her sons, David Farmer, Lake Elsinore, Calif., Danny Abbott, Phoenix, Ariz., and Bill Lock, Arkansas City; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Gerold Juaire
EUREKA - Gerold Jean Juaire, 52, of Eureka, died Aug. 16, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services were at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 19 in South Lawn Cemetery
in Severy. The Rev. Alan Hunter officiated. Zimmerman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University.
Juaire was born Dec. 25, 1947, in Winfield, to Wanda Elaine (Cummins) and Joseph Jean Juaire. He attended school in the Howard community.
For several years he was employed as a farmhand and construction worker. He also took part in bull riding in rodeos.
On Sept. 1, 1970, he married Byra Jean Glenn in Howard, and they made their home on a farm northeast of Severy for many years. During the 1980s he owned and operated a boot and saddle repair business in Howard.
He was baptized in the Howard First Christian Church at an early age.
Survivors include his wife, Byra Juaire, Eureka; three daughters, Laurie Miller, Severy, Jenny Lanning, Eureka, and Amy Johnson, Reece; his mother, Wanda Dilli, Howard; two brothers, Frenchie Juaire, Howard, and Rick Dilli, Independence; three sisters, Patricia Unrein, Wichita, Connie Hafner, Independence, and Rita Hill, Bellevue, Ill.; one grandchild and two stepgrandchildren.
Alta Miller
OXFORD - Alta Miller, 95, of Oxford, died Aug. 18, 2000, at Riverview Manor.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Oxford Cemetery. The Rev. Curtis Fike will officiate.
Friends may call at Oliver-Hawks Funeral Home from noon to 8 p.m. Monday.
A memorial has been established with the Oxford Friendship Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Miller was born May 23, 1905, near Belle Plaine, to Fronia Mae (Freeman) and Joseph Franklin Poovey. She attended school in Oxford.
On Aug. 26, 1950, she married Grant Oscar Miller in Wellington. They lived on a farm southwest of Oxford until her husband died Dec. 20, 1971. She then moved to Oxford.
Miller was a member of the Oxford First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Velma Poovey, Oxford, and several nieces and nephews, including Martin Poovey, Oxford.
Forrest Wyckoff
Forrest Donald Wyckoff, 77, longtime Winfield businessman, died Aug. 17, 2000, at Cumbernauld Village.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church. A private burial will be in Floral Cemetery.
Friends may call at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday.

Wyckoff was born Dec. 20, 1922, in Cambridge, to Elsie Stella (Williams) and Iven B. Wyckoff. He was educated in Dexter and Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 1940. During high school he took part in gymnastics and tennis.
On July 18, 1941, he married Carolyn Stevens.
Wyckoff worked for Dawson Monument Co. and later Mogle Electronics selling and servicing televisions when they first were available. In 1950 he joined Earl Ehling in a Zenith dealership and in 1953 he because sole owner. The Wyckoff family owned and operated that business for 41 years. He retired in 1995.
During the 1950s and 1960s he became a pilot and plane owner.
While in business, Wyckoff was active in the Jaycees, the Lions Club and the Winfield Chamber of Commerce. He was a longtime member of the Winfield Country Club. A lifetime member of the First Baptist Church, he served on the board of trustees and financial committee and was a Boy Scout leader.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Wyckoff, Winfield; three sons, Monte Wyckoff and Jode Wyckoff, both of Winfield, and Mikel Wyckoff, DeKalb, Ill.; a brother, Bill Wyckoff, Oceanside, Calif.; two sisters, Peggy Close, Danville, Calif., and Virginia Tarsikes, Omaha, Neb.; and three grandchildren.
Martha Baker
Services for Martha (Saxe) Baker were held at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 19, 2000, at the First Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Steve Souther and Diane Massey officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Music included "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "For All the Saints."
Honorary casket bearers were Joan Conrod and Bill McKinley. Casket bearers were Donald L. Adams, Carroll Curfman, Al Hodges, Howard Ditmore, Kenneth McCanon and George Wills.
Memorials have been established with the First Presbyterian Church and the USD 465 Foundation.
Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Billy Ledgerwood
Billy L. Ledgerwood Sr., 77, of 1415 E. Sixth, Apt. 209, Winfield, formerly of Cambridge, died Aug. 18, 2000, at William Newton Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Cambridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at Wheeler Funeral Home of Burden from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7.
A memorial has been established with the Cambridge Baptist Church.
Ledgerwood was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Cambridge, to Gladys (Bertrand) and Charles Hayes Ledgerwood. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1940.
In 1942 he married Barbara J. Brown.
Ledgerwood served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943 to 1946 during World War II.
After he returned to Cowley County, he graduated from Southwestern College in 1953.
He taught school and ranched near Cambridge and also taught in Evergreen, Colo.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ledgerwood, Durango, Colo.; a son, Billy L. Ledgerwood Jr., Augusta; two daughters, Julie McCallister, Durango, Colo., and Nancy Sperry, Eckert, Colo.; a sister, Ilene Ledgerwood, Winfield; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Karen Lyons
Karen Marie Lyons, 36, of Winfield, died Aug. 18, 2000, at her home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oliver-Hawks Funeral Home in Oxford. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for Lyons' son, Dustin Ray Miller. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Lyons was born Sept. 10, 1963, in Phoenix, to Marilyn Joan (Whaley) and Willie Thomas Lyons. In 1970 the family moved to Oxford where Lyons was educated.
In 1991 she married Gilbert R. Miller.
She had worked at Riverview Manor in Oxford.
Survivors include her son, Dustin Miller, Mulvane; her mother, Marilyn Lyons, Winfield; three brothers, Richard Lyons, Big Bear Lake, Calif., Willie T. Lyons Jr., Winfield, and Mark Lyons, South Haven; and two sisters, Marsha Lyn Broz, Newton, and Donna Thomas, Victor, Idaho.
A daughter, Serenity Rose Lyons, died Feb. 2, 2000.
