Floyd Mills
SEDAN - Floyd K. Mills, 86, of Sedan, died July 26, 2000, at Pleasant Valley Manor.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Sedan. Burial will be in North Cedar Cemetery
near Cedar Vale.
Friends may call at Wheeler Funeral Home in Cedar Vale from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
A memorial has been established with the Wichita chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.
Mills was born March 30, 1914, in Cedar Vale, to Bertha (Kennedy) and Ralph Mills. He grew up in the Cedar Vale area and graduated from Cedar Vale High School in 1932.
On Nov. 24, 1935, he married Lua Lemert Stark in Winfield. They lived on a farm southeast of Cedar Vale until 1943 when they moved to the Spur Ranch near Sedan.
Mills was a member of Cedar Vale United Methodist Church and the Sedan Chamber of Commerce and had been involved in the Chautauqua County Fair and 4-H. He was also a member of the Chautauqua County, Kansas and national livestock associations and served on the Sedan school board for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lua Mills, Sedan; two daughters, Carol Tranbarger, Macksville, and Joyce McCall, Bartlesville; a son, Lee Mills, Sedan; a brother, Ray Mills, Denver; a sister, Olive Ramey, Winfield; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Glenda Dick
MOUNT HOPE - Glenda J. (Krepps) Dick, 55, city clerk of Mount Hope, died July 26, 2000.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hope Federated Church.
Dick was born Nov. 13, 1944, in Winfield, to Eleanor and Floyd Krepps. She graduated from Winfield High School and attended Wichita State University.
She had owned and operated a beauty shop and a flower shop and had served as city clerk of Mount Hope for the past eight years.
Survivors include her husband, Leslie Dick, Mount Hope; two sons, Greg Dick, Florence, S.C., and Keith Dick, Mount Hope; her mother, Eleanor Krepps, Winfield; a sister, Karen Thompson, Hiland Village, Texas; and three grandchildren.
Kevin House
INDEPENDENCE - Kevin Christopher House, 20, of Independence, died July 29, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita of injuries sustained in a vehicle accident near Elk City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard. Pastor Steve Bliss will officiate. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery
in Elk City.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 8 tonight.
A memorial has been established with Calvary Chapel in Elk Falls. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
House was born Jan. 13, 1980, in Wichita, to Vanessa Sue (Volland) and Robert Eugene House. He attended school in Seaside, Ore. He achieved life status as a Boy Scout and attended camp at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
In July 1997 he enlisted in the Army National Guard in Seaside and transferred to the Army National Guard in Coffeyville when he moved to Independence in 1999. He was employed at Amazon.com in Coffeyville.
Survivors include his companion, Apryl Shrode, Independence; his parents, Robert and Peggy House, Longton, and Vanessa Volland and Robin Noll, Seaside, Ore; his sisters, Beverly House, Tucson, Ariz., and Heather House and Heidi House, both of Longton; a brother, Joshua House, Longton; his grandparents, Will and Mary Hayes, Elk City, Don and Angie House, Thomas, Okla., Mary Volland, Seaside, Ore., and Joyce Tabor, Longton; and his great-grandmother, Susie Martinez, Hobbs, N.M.
Floyd Mills
SEDAN - Services for Floyd K. Mills were held at 10 a.m. July 31, 2000, at the First Christian Church in Sedan. The Revs. Penny Goldberg and Dois Nix officiated. Burial was in North Cedar Cemetery.
Music included "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," recorded by Regina Mills and accompanied by Debbie Walker, and "Beyond the Sunset" and "On Eagles' Wings," sung by Kathy Chamberland and accompanied by Sue House.
Honorary casket bearers were Gary Jellison, John Floyd, Wilmer Stephenson, Bert Garrett, Jim Woods, Gene Cain, Bob Stockton, Ben Allen, Ed Morton and Charley Bowan.
Casket bearers were George Lorenz, Frank Adcock, Neal Armstrong, Mike Long, Earl Padgett and Ed Sutton.
A memorial has been established with the Wichita chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.

Joan Renek
Joan Ruth Renek, 76, of 323 College, Winfield, died July 31, 2000, at her home.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church. Cremation has been effected. A private inurnment will take place later.
Memorials have been established with Grace Episcopal Church and Hospice Inc. Contributions may be made through Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home.
Renek was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Wichita, to Grace (Belchner) and John Preston. She graduated from Wichita East High School in 1942.
In 1944 she married Sylvester R. Fenton, and they had three children.
On Jan. 16, 1965, she married Harry R. Renek in Las Vegas.
In 1983 Renek received her associate's degree in general studies from Cowley County Community College and in 1987, her Bachelor of Philosophy degree from Southwestern College. She was a member of the national honor fraternity Phi Theta Kappa and the international honor society Pi Gamma Mu. In 1991 she earned her Master of Liberal Arts degree from Southwestern.
Renek was secretary for the head of the psychology department at Wichita State University and held many other positions. They included special events coordinator for the Wichita Chamber of Commerce, director of housing and chamber manager at Lindsborg, manager of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce and administrative assistant of the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce. She had been employed at Southwestern College, Wedgestone Press and Cowley County District Court.
After a daughter, Barrie Anne Townsend, died in 1968, the Reneks raised her newborn son, Richard P. Townsend.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Renek, Winfield; two sons, Preston Scott Fenton, Las Vegas, and Richard Revard Fenton, Larga Vista, Texas; three stepchildren, Michael D. Renek, Chandler, Ariz., Dana Charles Renek, Phoenix, and Diane (Renek) Killian, Stevenson Ranch, Calif.; five grandchildren, including Richard P. Townsend, Dayton, Ohio; nine stepgrandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bertha Hayden
Bertha Rucker Hayden, 88, of Winfield, died July 26, 2000, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Overland Park.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jeff Bruce will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home until 8 tonight.
A memorial has been established with the Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 16th and Main.
Bertha Hayden
Services for Bertha Rucker Hayden were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 3, 2000, at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jeff Bruce officiated. Burial was in Union Cemetery.
Organist Reginald Watson played "I'll Fly Away" and "Sweet, Sweet Spirit." Pat Crawford and Carol Hayden sang "God's Amazing Grace." Luke Loud sang "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah," and Mark Clay sang "The Lord's Prayer."
The Rev. Adron Crawford gave the Scripture readings. The Rev. William Reed led a prayer. Arvenia Hughes gave acknowledgements, condolences and resolutions.
Remarks were given by the Revs. William Jones and Earnest McClure, Thomas Wallrabenstein and Larry McPherson. The Rev. L.K. Johnson presented the eulogy.
Flower bearers were Beth Harrison, Rosalyn Brown, Josie Brown and Carole Alexander.
Honorary casket bearers were Elwood Neely, Orvan Johnson, L.T. Loud, Shadrach Shankton, Ellis Hughes, James Crawford and Andrew Faucette.
Casket bearers were Edward Tapia, Wayne Wilt, Fred Johnson, David Gorham, Larry McPherson and Wendell Smith.

James Kennedy
DOUGLASS - James A. Kennedy, 79, of Douglass, died Aug. 1, 2000.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church. Hillside Funeral Home in Augusta is in charge of arrangements.

Kennedy was a retired sheet metal assembler for Boeing. Survivors include his wife, Edith Kennedy, Douglass; two daughters, Donna Wells, Douglass, and Connie Smith, Emporia; a son, Douglas Kennedy, Aurora, Colo.; a sister, Lola Belle Scarbrough, Melrose, N.M.; a brother, Ray Kennedy, Walcott, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
BPetrona Kristek
MARION - Petrona Kristek, 94, of Marion, died Aug. 2, 2000, at Marion Manor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Pilsen. The Rev. Steve Gronert will officiate. Burial will be in Pilsen Church Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with Marion Manor.
Friends may call at Zeiner Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. A Rosary will be said at Holy Family Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Friday.
Kristek was born June 6, 1906, on a farm near Pilsen to Mary (Stika) and William Klenda. She grew up in the Pilsen community.
On April 24, 1928, she married Leo Kristek in Pilsen. He died Aug. 30, 1985.
A homemaker and farmer, she had lived at Marion Manor for the last three years, after moving there from Ramona.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Grogan, Winfield; a brother, Ted Klenda, Tulsa; two sisters, Emma Klenda, Pilsen, and Alice Klenda, Wichita; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
