Patrice Dobbins
WELLINGTON - Patrice Irene Dobbins, 48, of Wellington, died May 29, 2000, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Larry Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery
at Winfield.
Friends may call at Day Funeral Home until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m Wednesday.
Memorials have been established with St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, and the First Presbyterian Church, 1419 Western Ave., Wellington, KS 67152. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
Dobbins was born Aug. 28, 1951, in Winfield, to Doris R. (Taylor) and Verne H. Woner. She graduated from Udall High School and earned her teaching degree from Southwestern College in 1974.
On June 6, 1982, she married Thomas M. Dobbins in Winfield, and they resided in Wellington.
Dobbins taught second and third grades at Lincoln Elementary in Wellington for 13 years until her retirement in 1987. She then did volunteer work with children at the Presbyterian preschool and Kennedy Elementary School.
She survived several serious illnesses, including a brain tumor in 1974-75 and cancer. After a stroke in late 1999 she resided at Cedar View Good Samaritan Center.
Dobbins was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Kappa Kappa Iota sorority and Third Thursday Pitch Club.
Survivors include her husband, Tom Dobbins, Wellington; her parents, Verne and Doris Woner, Rock; and a brother, Casey Woner, also of Rock.
Lee Horn
SEDAN - Georgia Lee Horn, 67, of Moline, died May 28, 2000, at Sedan City Hospital.
A Rosary service will be at 7 tonight, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, both at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline. The Rev. Edward J. Steinberger will officiate. Burial will be in Moline Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with St. Mary's Altar Society of Moline and the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University. Contributions may be left at Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard.
Horn was born June 8, 1932, in Moline, to Eva (Lancett) and Claire Horn. She grew up in Moline and graduated from Sacred Heart College, now Newman University, in Wichita.
Horn was employed for many years at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She worked in several capacities there before becoming a systems analyst in data processing. After retiring in 1993, she moved to Moline.
Horn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and an associate of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. As a volunteer, she supported her church and community. She worked on newsletters for St. Mary's Church, the city of Moline and the Elk County Council on Aging.
Survivors include her sisters, Marlys Horn, Winfield, and June Book, Moline; and a brother, Bill Horn, Moline.
Robert Lampson
GRENOLA - Robert Franklin Lampson, 70, of rural Grenola, died May 29, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Grenola Christian Church. The Rev. Wallace Wartick will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Grenola Christian Church. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.
Lampson was born Sept. 7, 1929, near Grenola, to Nettie M. (Walker) and Sherman F. Lampson. He attended Ebenezer and Pleasant Valley rural schools near Grenola and Sedan High School.
After serving in the United States Army, he made his home in the Chautauqua County area. A farmer and rancher, he was a member of the Grenola Christian Church.
On Oct. 15, 1950, he married Marjorie Ruth Archer in Sedan.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Lampson, Grenola; three sons, Wayne Lampson, Kansas City, Kan., and Craig Lampson and Charles Lampson, both of Sedan; two daughters, Sandra Lane, Andover, and Cheryl Wright, Caldwell; a brother, William Lampson, Cedar Vale; a sister, Loreen Arbuckle, Anacortes, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Jaylee Wilson
MULVANE - Jaylee Marie Wilson was stillborn May 25, 2000.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. May 27 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Senter-Smith Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with the Wichita Children's Home.
Survivors include her mother, Julie Clasen, Mulvane; her father, Damon Wilson, Udall; her grandparents, Tom and Micki Wilson, Udall, and Dennis and Connie Clasen, Mulvane; her great-grandparents, Herb and Alice Clasen, Mulvane, Wilbert and Audrey Davis, Wichita, and Jay and Jewell Lacey and Helen Wilson, all of Udall; and her great-great-great-grandfather, Luther Ferguson, Oxford.
Gertrude Hurst
POND CREEK, Okla. - Gertrude Amanda Hurst, 91, of Pond Creek, formerly of Winfield, died May 31, 2000, at St. Mary's Mercy Hospital in Enid, Okla.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Christian Church. The Revs. Sherry Shaw and E.A. Butler will officiate, and burial will be in Pond Creek Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian Church or to a church or charity of the donor's choice.
Hurst was born March 11, 1909, in Farmersville, Texas, to Sally (Andersen) and Thomas T. Fowler.
On July 28, 1928, she married Clyde Hurst in Madill, Okla. They lived in Salem, Ill., eight years, then moved to Davenport, Okla., in 1948, to Winfield in 1958 and to Pond Creek in 1985. Her husband died July 16, 1999.
A homemaker, Hurst was a member of the First Christian Church and had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Davenport.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Hurst Hicks, Conover, N.C.; a son, Robert T. "Bob" Hurst, Pond Creek; a brother, H.A. Fowler, Madill; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Loren Lister
HOWARD - Loren L. Lister, 91, longtime resident of Howard, died May 31, 2000, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Howard. The Rev. Marty Dewitt will officiate. Masonic graveside rites will be performed in Grace Lawn Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home.
Lister was born Aug. 24, 1908, at Cedar Vale, to Lillie Mabel (Orin) and Irvin Lister. He graduated from Cedar Vale High School in 1927 and attended Pittsburg State Teachers College.
On May 27, 1933, he married Alma Gertrude Scobee at her parents' home east of Grenola. They farmed southwest of Moline until moving to a farm southeast of Howard in 1944. In 1964 they moved to Howard where he owned and operated the Howard Locker until he retired in 1973.
Lister served on the Howard City Council for several years before becoming mayor. He also served on the Howard school board. He was a 50-year member of Hope Lodge 155 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons and had served as deacon of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Lister, Howard; three daughters, Alma Daymude and Wilma Huffman, both of Arkansas City, and Virginia Hulsey, Fort Smith, Ark.; three sons, Roy Lister, Lindsborg, Norman Lister, Bella Vista, Ark., and Harold Lister, Burlingame; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Earl Teubner
Earl G. Teubner, 85, of Cumbernauld Village, Winfield, died May 29, 2000.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. June 17 at University Friends Church, Wichita. Resthaven Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to University Friends Church, Grace United Methodist Church, Winfield, and Hospice Inc.
Teubner was a retired insurance agent and partner at Paul Brown & Associates in Wichita.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Teubner, Winfield; two sons, Douglas S. Teubner, Winfield, and Donn M. Teubner, Towson, Md.; a sister, Doris Byron, Stockton, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Wilma Ankrom
NICKERSON - Wilma M. Ankrom, 86, of Nickerson, formerly of Burden, died May 31, 2000, at her home.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Burden Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with National Home Missions of Free Will Baptist Church, 529 E. Eighth, Hutchinson, KS 67501. Contributions may be made through the church or funeral home.
Ankrom was born Oct. 14, 1913, east of Douglass near Smileyberg, to Dora J. (Swanson) and Benjamin H. Parsons. In 1921 the family moved to Burden where she attended Willow-Branch School and graduated from Burden High School in 1932.
After she married Fred Sanburn, they operated a cafe in Burden for several years. In 1946 they moved to Milan and operated a grocery store there until 1954. In 1954 she was appointed postmistress of Milan and retired in 1975. Her husband died in 1955.
In 1961 she married Owen Ankrom in Cambridge. He died in 1969.
Ankrom was a member of Free Will Baptist Church of Milan and later of Hutchinson. She held local, district and state offices in the Free Will Women's Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Milan American Legion Auxiliary, National Association of Retired Postmasters and National Association of Federal Employees of Hutchinson.
She worked for RSVP for several years after moving to Hutchinson in 1976.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Ann Evans, Atlanta, Ga.; two stepsons, Ray Ankrom, Burden, and Arthur Ankrom, Winfield; two brothers, Harley Parsons, Winfield, and Raymond Parsons, Arkansas City; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
A son, Gerald Sanburn, preceded her in death.
