Wilma Kielhorn
Services for Wilma Jean Kielhorn were held at 2 p.m. March 30 in the Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Fran Broadhurst officiated. Burial was in Cambridge Cemetery.
Special music included "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden."
Honorary casket bearers were Don Alexander, Ron Cannon and Raymond Trobaugh.
Casket bearers were Matt Cosby, Marshall Detter, James Drake, Cary Travnichek, Neil Watt and Randall Watt.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association.
Anna Fleming
SPOKANE, Wash. - Anna Vera Fleming, 80, of Spokane, Wash., died March 31, 2000, in Spokane.
A service will be held Saturday in Spokane. Burial will be Monday in San Diego, Calif.
Fleming was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Winfield, to Fern and Richard Rhine.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Fleming, and a son, Ronald Fleming, both of Spokane; a sister, Juanita Keasling, Arkansas City; a brother, Dr. Robley Rhine, Boulder, Colo.; two granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren.
Pauline Herbers
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. March 31 at Holy Name Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael Maybrier officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Laura Belle Haines was the organist. Bill Chamberland sang "On Eagles' Wings."
Casket bearers were Brett Herbers, Chad Herbers, Jarrod Herbers, Jay Herbers, Jess Herbers and Daryl Thiel.
A memorial has been established with the Holy Name Catholic Church Building Fund.
A Rosary service was held at 7:30 p.m. March 30 at Miles Funeral Service.
Donna Pendland
BLACKWELL - Donna M. Pendland, 59, homemaker, of Blackwell, died March 31, 2000.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Blackwell.
Hillside Funeral Home of Wichita has charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Noble "Pat" Pendland, Blackwell; three daughters, Robin Lebeda and Penny Schoonover, both of Winfield, and Sue Beams, Oklahoma City; a son, Noble "Rick" Pendland II, Cimarron; two brothers, Larry Herdlitchka, Holdenville, Okla., and Gary Herdlitchka, Oklahoma City; and five grandsons.
Rosemary Thurber
Rosemary Thurber, 64, of Winfield, died March 29, 2000, at William Newton Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Memorials have been established with the American Diabetes Association and the American Arthritis Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Thurber was born Dec. 18, 1935, in Kansas City, Kan., to Lula Mae (Bartlett) and Earl Ray Huntington. She was raised and worked in Wellington until she married.
On Sept. 15, 1961, she married Roy E. Thurber in Winfield where they made their home. When her children were young, she stayed at home. When they were older, she went to work for the Winfield school district as the head cook of the meat department. She also worked from her home and was a care giver for many children.
Survivors include her husband, Roy E. Thurber, and a daughter, Sherri Clift, both of Winfield; a son, Kevin Thurber, Arkansas City; a brother, A.R. Huntington, Crocker, Mo.; two sisters, Irene Reynolds, St. Joseph, Mo., and Peggy Larabee, Kansas City, Kan.; and four grandchildren.
Beulah Bailey
PONCA CITY - Beulah Elizabeth Bailey, 88, longtime Ponca City resident, died March 30, 2000, at St. Mary's Integris Hospital in Enid, Okla.
Services were 10:30 a.m. April 3 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service followed at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church. The Rev. Kent Dorsey officiated.
Grace Memorial Chapel had charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 210 North Fifth, Ponca City, OK 74601.
Bailey was born Feb. 15, 1912, in Coyle, Okla., to Sara Elizabeth (Carrier) and Ellis Alonzo Henderson. She graduated from Coyle High School.
On May 2, 1931, she married Lawrence H. Bailey in Canton. They lived in Wichita and the Winfield area before moving to Ponca City in 1955.
Mr. Bailey died in May 1999. A son, Roger Bailey, died in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Bailey, Bellview, Wash.; a son, Marlin Bailey, Richardson, Texas; a brother, Arthur Henderson, Enid, Okla.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Carol Brinegar
MINNEAPOLIS - Carol Marcella Brinegar, 93, of Minneapolis, former longtime resident of Howard, died March 30, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center of Minneapolis.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lawn Cemetery
in Howard. The Rev. Jim Lorensen will officiate.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Bible College of Manhattan. Contributions may be made through Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.
Brinegar was born June 11, 1906, in Juniata, Neb., to Lillie May (Madison) and Frank Edgar Crosier. The family moved to Kansas in 1920. She graduated from Howard High School in 1923 and attended business college in Lawrence.
On Jan. 1, 1933, she married John Eugene Brinegar in Howard. She worked as assistant to the Elk County engineer for 15 years and was Howard City Clerk until she retired after 20 years of service. Mr. Brinegar died in August 1966.
She helped found the Business and Professional Women's Club of Howard and was its third president. She also belonged to the Rebecca Lodge 154 and was a 64-year member of Columbia Chapter 142 Order of Eastern Star where she served as worthy matron. She was a member of the Howard Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Cary Brinegar, and two grandsons, all of Salina.
Mamie Dunbar
EL DORADO - Mamie A. Dunbar, 80, of El Dorado, died April 1, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carlson Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial.
Memorials have been suggested to Bethlehem House in El Dorado and may be made at the funeral home.
Dunbar was born May 16, 1919, in Mountain Home, Ark., to Louisa Jane (Johnson) and Harvey Eugene Sumner.
On July 11, 1940, she married Chester D. Dunbar in Winfield. They moved from Winfield to El Dorado 47 years ago.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, C.D. Dunbar, El Dorado; three daughters, Sharon Wallace, Sheila Morrow and Renee Maddux, all of El Dorado; three sons, Gary Dunbar, Oklahoma City,, Dennis Dunbar, El Dorado, and Larry Dunbar, Jones, Okla.; 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Audine Gray
Services for Audine Gray were held at 2 p.m. March 31 in the Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Ron Keith officiated. Burial was in Maple City Cemetery.
Special vocal music included "In the Garden," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "The Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."
Casket bearers were Mrs. Graves' grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc.
Leona Stiner
Services for Leona Marie Stiner were held at 2:30 p.m. April 1 in the Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Gerald Graber officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Gwen Lumbert was the organist.
Randy Clifford presented "When the Morning Comes" and "It Is Well with My Soul."
Casket bearers were Chuck Blalock, Jim Cartwright, Glen Hughes, Howard Robinson, Keith Stiner and Kenneth Stiner.
A memorial has been established with Central Baptist Church.
