Thoburn Woods
Thoburn E. Woods, 89, of 1404 E. 11th, Winfield, formerly of Oxford, died March 24, 2000, at Cumbernauld Village.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Oxford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Inc. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Woods was born Jan. 19, 1911, south of Oxford, to Ione (Patterson) and Fred Woods. He attended schools near Oxford and Winfield and Wellington High School.
On May 19, 1934, he married Mildred E. Leland in Wellington. They lived and worked on their farms in the Oxford community for 55 years. Following retirement in 1989, they moved to Winfield. His wife died Jan. 15, 1996.
Woods had held memberships in the Slate Valley, Oxford and Winfield Baptist churches. He had been a board member of the Sumner County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, Farm Bureau, Oxford schools and Oxford City Planning Commission.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Anderson, Lynchburg, Tenn.; a sister, Oleta Barth, Wellington; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A son, Calvin E. Woods, preceded him in death.
Myra Crist
OXFORD - Services for Myra Olivia Crist were held at 1:30 p.m. March 27, 2000, in Oxford Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Milleson officiated.
A memorial has been established with the Alzheimer's and Related Diseases Association.
Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Wesley Hogan
ROSE HILL - Wesley Dale Hogan, 35, of Rose Hill, died March 26, 2000.
Services were held at 4:30 p.m. March 28 at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel in Wichita. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Welch Cemetery
at Marshfield, Mo.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society.
Hogan was born Sept. 19, 1964, in Springfield, Mo. He was an assembly worker on Air Force I at Boeing.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda Hogan, Rose Hill; his father and stepmother, Raymond and Sue Hogan, Hollister, Mo.; a brother, Joe Irwin, Derby; and a stepsister, Cozi Bagley, Springfield, Mo.
Wilma Kielhorn
CAMBRIDGE - Wilma J. Kielhorn, 62, of Cambridge, died March 27, 2000, at William Newton Memorial Hospital in Winfield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and until noon Thursday.
A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Kielhorn was born Nov. 13, 1937, in Burrton, to Vesta (DePriest) and Johnny Rains. When she was a child, the family moved to Oilton, Okla., where she was educated.
On Nov. 17, 1953, she married Floyd Patton, and they lived in Kodiak, Alaska, where he was stationed with the U.S. Navy. They later resided in San Diego and Honolulu before moving to Perry, Okla. They divorced in 1966.
On Oct. 26, 1966, she married John Kielhorn in Miami, Okla. In 1967 they moved to Burden where she was employed for many years at Henderson Drug Store. They had resided in Cambridge for a number of years.
Kielhorn was a member of the Oilton Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John Kielhorn, Cambridge; a son, Ed Patton, Leon; two stepsons, Cecil Kielhorn, Miami, Okla., and Dale Kielhorn, Burden; a sister, Mary Ann Row, Enid, Okla.; three brothers, Johnny Rains and George Rains, both of Hennessey, Okla., and Leon Idlett, Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Nina Shaver
BURDEN - Nina Shaver, 87, of rural Burden, died March 26, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 tonight.
A memorial has been established with the Tisdale United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the church or funeral home.
Shaver was born Feb. 28, 1913, on a farm near Burden, to Clara Francis (Powers) and Albert Elmer Lowe. At the age of four, she went to live with her aunt, Lourita Mahan, in Burden where she was raised in a hotel. She graduated from Burden High School in 1932.
On July 17, 1932, she married James A. "Fots" Shaver in Wichita. The couple made their home on a farm near Burden.
Shaver worked in Winfield in the 1950s as a waitress and clerk and managed an ice cream store. She started working at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in 1962 and retired following 27 years of service.
Her husband died in 1976.
Shaver was a member of Tisdale United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Bolack, Denver; a son, Bob Shaver, rural Burden; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A son, Richard Shaver, died in October 1972.
Evelyn Spencer
DOUGLASS - Services for Evelyn Joyce Spencer were held at 2 p.m. March 27, 2000, at the First Baptist Church in Douglass. The Rev. Neal Alford officiated. Burial was in Douglass Cemetery.
Kathryn Pickens was the pianist, and Brooke Schmidt sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Amazing Grace."
Honorary casket bearers were J.L. Frakes, Bill and Bob Haaga, Melvin Payton and Marvin Spencer.
Casket bearers were Eric Allen, John L., Glenn and James Spencer and Bill and Hope Taylor.
A memorial has been established with the Douglass Public Library.
Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Jim Adams was the organist. Rebecca and Thomas Wayman sang "Beyond the Sunset," "In the Garden" and "Take My Hand, Precious Lord."
Casket bearers were Jim Adams, Gary and Kevin Leland and Fred, Kirk and Truman Woods.

Frankie Brock
ARKANSAS CITY - Frankie Geraldine Brock, 70, of Arkansas City, died March 28, 2000, at Medicalodge East.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints south of Arkansas City. Burial will be in Geuda Springs Cemetery.
Friends may call at Hawks Funeral Home from 5 to 8 tonight and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and at the church from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Brock was born May 23, 1929, in Arkansas City, to Thelma Schoffield and Dora Christina (Hilderbrandt) Hughes.
On March 30, 1946, she married Harry Donald Brock in El Dorado.
A longtime resident of Arkansas City, she worked in several aircraft plants in Wichita and at Strother Field.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Brock, Arkansas City; two sons, Donnie Brock, Lenexa, Va., and Harry Dayton, West Valley, Utah; two daughters, Tracy Stamps, Andover, and Rosie Hall, Arkansas City; a brother, Ted Hughes, Park City; a sister, Fern Sandker, Wichita; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Michele Hoeger
CAMBRIDGE - Memorial services for Michele Hess Hoeger were held at 10:30 a.m. March 28, 2000, at the Cambridge Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Fran Broadhurst officiated.
Alberta McChesney was the pianist, and Mary Lou Ashcraft sang "Remember Me." Additional music included "Like a River," by Aileen and Elkin Thomas, "The Great Storm Is Over," by John McCutcheon, and "Amazing Grace," sung by the congregation.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Hoeger, a daughter, Andrea Hoeger, and a son, Zach Hoeger, all of Cedar City, Utah; and a brother, John Hess, and a sister, Lori Hess, both of Kansas City, Kan.
A memorial has been established with the Cambridge Presbyterian Church.
