Belle Simmons
DERBY - Hazel Belle (Bannon) Simmons, 75, of Derby, died March 12, 2000, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Highland Cemetery
in Winfield.
Friends may call at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home until 8 tonight.
Simmons was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Winfield, to Hazel (Dye) and Benjamin Perry Bannon.
In 1940 she married Howard Duane Hall. He died Dec. 12, 1972. In 1980 she married David Simmons.
Simmons had lived in Derby since 1980. She had worked as a waitress/hostess at Spears Restaurant in Wichita and the Wichita Petroleum Club.
She was a member of Derby Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7253 Auxiliary and served as treasurer.
Survivors include her husband, David Simmons, Derby; two daughters, Hazel Corrine Harde, Mobile, Ala., and Patricia Hall, Wichita; a son, Lyle Hall, Wichita; four stepsons, Charles David Simmons and Lester E. Simmons, both of Derby, Patrick D. Simmons, Haysville, and Michael A. Simmons, Wichita; a sister, Edna Houston, Arkansas City; a brother, James Bannon, Kirtland, N.M.; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mamie Binkey
WICHITA - Mamie O. Binkey, 92, formerly of Winfield, died March 13, 2000, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Memorial Chapel in Winfield. The Rev. Warren Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until 5 today.
Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and the Metropolitan Baptist Church of Wichita. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Binkey was born Dec. 17, 1907, near Oxford, to Minnie Bell (Deal) and Jacob Edmund "Ed" Binkey. She attended grade school in the area and graduated from Winfield High School in 1925. She graduated from Winfield Business College and moved to Wichita in 1929.
For over 30 years Binkey worked as a checker for a Wichita bakery. She later worked in the nutrition department of Wesley Medical Center until retiring in 1967.
She was a charter member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Wichita.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Wilson, Raleigh, N.C.
Leo Eastman
WILMOT - Services for Leo J. Eastman were held at 2 p.m. March 14, 2000, in Wilmot Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Floyd officiated. Vocal music included "Peace in the Valley" and "Grandpa."
Honorary casket bearers were Clint, Jack, Rodney and Tim Eastman, Robin Hickman, Jim Hoock, Bill Lemon, David Lowe, Greg McCaslin, Jim Miller, Eric Parsons, David Lee Smith and Larry Stiffler.
Memorials have been established with Central Baptist Church and Cumbernauld Village.
Miles Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Wanda Kraus
CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Wanda Myrtle (Casebolt) Kraus, 86, for several years a victim of Alzheimer's disease, died March 4, 2000, in Centerville.
A memorial service was held March 6 at the Osterville, Mass., United Methodist Church. Another service for Kansas relatives and friends will be held later in Arlington. Burial will be in the Arlington City Cemetery. Some of her ashes will also be scattered on the Casebolt family plot in Cedar Vale Cemetery.

Kraus was born June 19, 1913, on a farm near Cedar Vale, to Nannie Grace (Burden) and Baldwin Harl Casebolt. The family moved into Cedar Vale in 1920, and in 1931 she graduated from Cedar Vale High School.
She attended Hutchinson Junior College and Pittsburg State Teachers College where she completed work for a teaching certificate. She taught for two years in Arlington and a year each in Wauneta and a rural school near Cambridge.
On June 14, 1936, she married Walter Raymond Kraus in Cedar Vale. She sometimes worked in the family's general store in Arlington while raising her family.
Kraus graduated from Sterling College in 1961 with a bachelor's degree. She taught in elementary schools in Abbyville and Partridge before retiring.
She was active in the Arlington United Methodist Church and many community activities.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Arnold Kraus, Cotuit, Mass., and John Harl Kraus, Westminster, Md.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Michele Hoeger
CAMBRIDGE - A memorial service for Michele Hess Hoeger, formerly of Cambridge, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, in the Cambridge Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Fran Broadhurst will officiate.
A private inurnment will follow the service.
Claud Littrell
CEDAR VALE - Claud E. Littrell, 92, of Cedar Vale, died March 13, 2000, at Cedar Vale Community Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale. Burial will be in Cedar Vale Cemetery.
Friends may call at Wheeler Funeral Home of Cedar Vale from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday.
A memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church.
Littrell was born Nov. 16, 1907, in Green Forest, Ark., to Nancy (Lawrence) and George Washington Littrell.
On Nov. 29, 1932, he married Isabella Wood in Winfield. She died Dec. 18, 1990.
Littrell drove a propane delivery truck for the Cedar Vale Co-op Exchange until his 1972 retirement. He then did carpentry and handyman work in the Cedar Vale area for many years.
He was a member of the Cedar Vale Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Dean Littrell, Chautauqua, and Raymond Littrell, Cedar Vale; two daughters, Louise Goode, Sedan, and Marguerite Kingsbury, Great Bend; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Earl Olmstead
Earl Olmstead, 99, of Winfield, died March 13, 2000, at William Newton Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in Ninnescah Cemetery
south of Udall.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday.
A memorial has been established with the Winfield Senior Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Olmstead was born Feb. 2, 1901, on a farm three miles east of Udall, to Cora S. (Townsend) and Benjamin Franklin Olmstead. The farm was homesteaded by his grandparents, Jedadiah and Mariah Olmstead. He attended Green Valley Rural School northeast of Udall.
On July 10, 1922, he married Mabel Elsie Wilbur in Winfield. They made their home in Udall, later bought a farm south of Rose Hill and in 1940 returned to Udall.
A longtime farmer, Olmstead also worked at Cessna Aircraft Co. in Wichita. After his retirement from Cessna, the Olmsteads moved to Winfield in 1963. His wife died in July 1991.
Olmstead was the oldest member of the First Congregational Church in Udall and the Winfield Senior Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Helen Lorraine Cox, Derby; a sister, Alice Hedgers, Centralia, Wash.; two granddaughters, three great-granddaughters and two great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Paul Wayne Olmstead, and a daughter, Betty Lee Olmstead, preceded him in death.
Hazel Reed
Hazel Ellen Mattocks Reed, 76, homemaker, of Winfield, died March 13, 2000, at William Newton Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Round Mound Cemetery
east of Cedar Vale.
Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service until 9 tonight.

Reed was born April 3, 1923, in Wichita, to Effie Jane (Griffith) and John M. Fike. She was raised in Wichita.
On Nov. 30, 1939, she married Vernon H. Mattocks in Wichita. They lived in Wauneta during most of their marriage. He died Sept. 15, 1979.
On Aug. 8, 1981, she married Ronald E. Foster. He died in April 1982.
On May 18, 1983, she married Frank A. Reed. He died Sept. 22, 1993.
Survivors include four daughters, Elaine Stewart, Moline, Marilyn Strole, Clovis, N.M., Marie Chunn, Thomasville, Ala., and Jane Mitchell, Cedar Vale; five sons, James Mattocks, Broken Arrow, Okla.; Marvin Mattocks, Sedan, Oscar Mattocks, Cedar Vale, Bob Mattocks, Great Bend, and Keith Mattocks, Winfield; two sisters, Clara McCollum, Andover, and Esther Chastain, Wichita; a brother, Merle Fike, Wichita; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
