Relina Humphrey
SALISBURY, N.C. - Relina Marie Humphrey, 89, retired nursing instructor, of Salisbury, formerly of Geuda Springs and Winfield, died July 4, 1998, at her residence.
Services were held at noon July 6 in Summersett Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Mark Anders officiated. Burial was in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, 817 S. Main St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
Humphrey was born Nov. 18, 1908, at Geuda Springs, to William E. and Pinkie (Casady) Holman. She was educated in Winfield schools, attended Southwestern College and graduated from Wesley Medical Center School of Nursing in Wichita.
She was a nurse and later a nursing instructor at Rowan Memorial Hospital in Salisbury.
Her husband, Coy Humphrey, died in 1977, and a son, William E. Humphrey, died in 1992.
Survivors include a son, Coy Humphrey Jr., Grapevine, Texas; two daughters, Jane H. Daniel, Salisbury, and Elaine H. Goodman, Clover, S.C.; a sister, Ruth Workman, Winfield; and many nieces and nephews.
Donald Genzler
ARKANSAS CITY - Donald M. Genzler, 45, of Arkansas City, Midwest Construction owner, died July 10, 1998, east of Arkansas City.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Buddy Cook will officiate. Private inurnment will take place later in Riverview Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the building fund of the Church of the Nazarene. Contributions may be made through the church or Hawks Funeral Home.
Genzler was born Feb. 18, 1953, in St. Louis, to Robert Frederick and Shirley Mae (Bauer) Genzler.
During the early 1970s, he served in the U.S. Army.
In the early 1980s he moved to Arkansas City from St. Louis. He married Karla Sue Sadler in Oklahoma City on Sept. 13, 1986, and they had lived in Arkansas City since their marriage.
For the last 15 years, Genzler has owned and operated Midwest Construction and for five years operated Genzler Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Karla Genzler, Arkansas City; two sons, Devon Genzler, Arkansas City, and Bradley Genzler, St. Louis; a brother, Robert Genzler, Springfield, Mo.; and a sister, Carol Noel, Maryland Heights, Mo.
Elwood Reber
Services for Elwood H. Reber, 85, who died July 11, 1998, were held at 10 a.m. July 15 in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. Lynn Blair and D.L. Harguess officiated. Burial was in Milan Cemetery.
Vocal music was "My God and I" and "Mansion Over the Hilltop."
Casket bearers were Jim Andrews, Jeff Fluty, Greg Frederick, Terry Lawrence, Doug Orr and Chris Smith.
A memorial has been established with Winfield Rest Haven.
Wooddy Abildgaard
Wooddy F. Abildgaard, 92, of 411 E. 33rd, Winfield, died July 15, 1998, at his home.
Private services will be held, with burial in Highland Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with Home Health Care at William Newton Memorial Hospital and First United Methodist Church. Contributions can be made through Miles Funeral Service.
Abildgaard was born Feb. 9, 1906, in Deerfield, Mo., to Fred and Nellie (Land) Abildgaard. The family moved to the Winfield area when he was a boy. He graduated from Winfield High School in 1927 and began farming in the Winfield area.
In 1938 he began work as a salesman for Stuber Brothers Ford dealership in Winfield. In 1939 he began his own Studebaker dealership, Abildgaard Motors.
A veteran of World War II, he entered the U.S. Army in 1942. While stationed in Washington state, he married Wanda M. Carlton on Aug. 26, 1942, at Fort Lawton, Wash. He served most of his wartime duty in the Aleutian Islands.
Abildgaard returned to Winfield to resume operation of Abildgaard Motors, and the couple moved to their present home in 1952. They owned and operated the business until Abildgaard retired in 1959. He later farmed, ranched and raised horses.
A lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3544, he was also affiliated with American Legion Post 10. He was the last living charter member of the Winfield Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Abildgaard, and his sister, Christina Shockey, both of Winfield.
Elvira Decker
Elvira Doris Decker, 89, of Cumbernauld Village, Winfield, formerly of Nashville, Tenn., died July 14, 1998, at Cumbernauld Village.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Pennsylvania. Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established with the church.
Decker was born Sept. 10, 1908, in Throop, Pa., to Vida and Minnie (Powell) Krotzer.
She graduated from Dunmore (Pa.) High School and entered Hahnaman Hospital School of Nursing in Scranton, Pa. She graduated in 1930 as a registered nurse and worked at Hahnaman Hospital and later at Cromwell Hall, Middleton, Conn., and Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.
On Oct. 12, 1932, she married Ralph Winfield Decker in Middletown, Conn. He died Dec. 23, 1996.
Survivors include a son, Ralph Decker Jr., Winfield; a sister, Minnie Watson, Clarks Summit, Pa., and a brother, Cyril Krotzer, Harlingen, Texas.
Donald Hatfield
Services for Donald L. Hatfield, 76, who died July 12, 1998, were held at 10 a.m. July 15 in Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel. The Revs. Rick Thornton and Fred Houston officiated. Burial was in Belle Plaine Cemetery.
Laura Belle Haines was the organist, and Dave Warbinton was the vocalist. Solo selections were "Hymn of Promise" and "No Setting Sun."
Lodge 110 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and American Legion Post 10 conducted military services.
Casket bearers were Jeff Hatfield, Terry Poovey, John Brown, Daryl Rhodes, Brent Laude and Blaine Spengler.
Wooddy Abildgaard
Services for Wooddy F. Abildgaard, 92, who died July 15, 1998, were held at 10:30 a.m. July 17 in Colonial Chapel of Miles Funeral Service. The Rev. Fred Houston officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Vocal music included "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "In the Garden."

Christopher Sprague
Christopher C. Sprague, 15, of Route 4, Winfield, died July 18, 1998, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita from injuries received when he fell from a roof.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Winfield High School. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The Christopher Sprague Memorial Fund for the Winfield High School Athletic Department has been established. Contributions can be made through USD 465 or the funeral home.
Sprague was born Nov. 6, 1982, to Charles W. and Teresa S. (Chenoweth) Sprague. The family lived in Wichita before moving to Derby when he was five years old. He attended Derby elementary schools and moved to Winfield in 1995.
A member of the sophomore class at Winfield High School, he was active in football, baseball, wrestling, weight lifting and snow skiing. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was affiliated with Viking Power and Students Against Drunk Driving.
Survivors include his parents, Teresa and Russell Bazil, Winfield, and Charles and Shelley Sprague, Irapuato, Mexico; a brother, Evan Sprague, and a sister, Lindsay Sprague, both of Winfield; a half-sister, Rachel Sprague, Irapuato, Mexico; a stepbrother, Christopher Bazil, and two stepsisters, Amy Bazil and Angela Bazil, all of Winfield; his girlfriend, Katie Sanders, Winfield; his grandparents, Phil and Nancy Chenoweth, Winfield, and Charles and Peggy Sprague, Altamont; his great-grandmother, Myrtle Smith, Parsons; and his stepgrandparents, Phyllis and Ron Panizzi, Haysville, and Phyllis and Guy Marlar and Carlos and Barbara Bazil, all of Arkansas City.
