Harold L. Fisher
FRONTENAC — Harold L. Fisher, 79 of Frontenac died at 9:50 a.m. Friday December 11, 2009 at the Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg. He was born December 14, 1929 in Iola, KS the son of Jesse E. and Eva V. (Lasater) Fisher. Harold was a graduate of Iola Senior High, a graduate of Allen County Community College; he received his BS from Emporia State University and his MS from Pittsburg State University. He married
Loretta Mae Behrnson on July 28, 1949 in Iola, KS; she preceded him in death on February 2, 2003. He married
Alma “Lou” Sorrick on July 19, 2004 in Sidney, AR; she survives at the home. Harold was a school teacher and administrator for over 40 years retiring in 1990 as principal from Westside Elementary School in Pittsburg after many years of service, in addition to the Pittsburg schools Harold taught in Carterville, MO; LaHarpe, KS; Humboldt, KS and McCune, KS. He was a member of the Frontenac United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, camping, sweepstakes, coin collecting, lawn and flowers and enjoyed his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Lou of the home; 4 daughters-Sheila A. Hayen of Yukon, OK, Cynthia J. Clinton of Sidney, AR, Denise L. Farinacci of Asbury, MO and Joyce E. McDaniels of Arma, KS; 11 Grandchildren; 20 Great-grandchildren; 2 step-sons David D. Sorrick of Pittsburg and Daren D. Sorrick of Girard; a step-daughter Tamara R. Wolsey of Arma, KS 5 Step-grandchildren and 1 step-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Loretta and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday December 15th at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac with Reverend Dennis Paschke officiating. Burial will follow in the Frontenac City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where friends may call after noon on Monday. Wilma Mossom
Wilma Mossom, formerly of Frontenac, KS died in Fort Worth, TX on December 28, 2009. She was born in Washington Township in Crawford County Kansas. She worked for Mount Carmel in food services until she retired in 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Josie Mossom; brothers Joe, Paul and her twin Wayne Mossom; sisters Pauline Mossom, Marvell Opitz. She is survived by her nieces Marvell Noscroy (whom she resided with), Kathryn Mossom; Great nieces Anette Moss, Laurie Larsen; Great nephew M. Gene Moss Jr.; Great-great nephews Marion Gene Moss III, Spencer & Blake Adams, Tori Moss-Desormier; Great niece Riley Moss-Desormier and Great-great-great niece Anna Marie Moss. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday December 31, 2009 at the Friskel Funeral Home 230 E. McKay Frontenac, KS. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Robert Anthony “Tony” Short
Robert Anthony “Tony” Short, 39, of Ft. Scott, KS formally of Frontenac, KS died Thursday December 24, 2009. He was born November 13, 1970 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Robert E. and Marilyn R. (Walker) Short. Tony graduated from Frontenac High School with the Class of 1989. On September 12, 1992 he was united in marriage to Wendy Stewart in Pittsburg, she survives him of the home. He worked Carpentry and Construction for several years. He was of the Christian Faith. Additional survivors include two sons: Kyler and Kaden Short and two daughters: Myca and McKaleigh Short all of the home, Bob and Marilyn Short of Frontenac, a brother Adam Short of Ozark, MO, a sister Heidi Mitchell of Frontenac and a nephew Dionte’ Short. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: John and Alma Short and Frank and Gertrude Walker, an Aunt Cheryl Rapp and three cousins: Sariah Cochran, Jeremy Rapp and Shawn Kissane. Funeral services will be 2 pm, Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Friskel Funeral Home with Pastor Jan Veatch-Yoger officiating. Burial will follow in the Frontenac City Cemetery. Elizabeth Ann “Babs” Morey
FRONTENAC — Elizabeth Ann “Babs” Morey, 88 of Frontenac, KS died at 11:06 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Sunset Manor in Frontenac, KS. Babs was born June 10, 1921 in Frontenac, KS to Earl H. and Mary Ann (Monahan) Morey, Sr. She attended area schools, graduating from Frontenac High School with the class of 1939. Babs worked as an information clerk for St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of the Scared Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac. Survivors include her sisters Rosez Kritzer of Frontenac and Virginia “Lala” Payne of Pittsburg; nieces Jolene Moriconi, Mary Gilmore, Christine White, Babbie Mathews, Karen Doue, Lee Ann Yartz, Sandra Schifferdecker, Rosann Chance, Kimberly O’Donnell, Sharon Morey, Pam Morey, Nancy Morey, Jennifer Morey and Kathy Morey; nephews George Morey, Mike Payne, Jimmy Morey, Steve Merando, Jody Merando, Mike Morey, Billy Morey and Pat Morey; sister-in-law June Morey; along with numerous great nieces and great nephews. Babs was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Kriss Yanko, Clara Mae Merando and Mary Catherine Morey, brothers Jim, Pete, Bill and Earl Jr. “Bull” Morey. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Spencer as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s cemetery in Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Sunday at Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. Edith M. Marchello
Edith M. Marchello, 91, of Frontenac, KS died 10:25pm Tuesday January 5, 2010 at Mt. Carmel Regional Medial Center in Pittsburg, KS following a short illness. Edith was born May 8, 19 18 to Joe and Alice (Harper) Verga at Chapman Camp R.R. 1 Mulberry, KS. She attended area schools in Mindenmines, MO graduating in 1937. On November 12, 19 38 she married
Dominic Marchello in Lamar, MO; he preceded her in death on October 19, 2002. Edith and her husband farmed most of their life around Farlington, KS. Edith was a cashier for the Ben Franklin Store in Girard, KS for 20 years. She and her husband retired and moved to Frontenac, KS in 1989. She was of the Methodist Faith. She will be remembered most by her love of bowling, playing cards and most of all her family. Edith is survived by one daughter Mary Reinhart and husband Chuck of Frontenac, KS; one grandson Kevin Reinhart and wife Dana of Columbia, TN; sister in-law Alice Verga of Frontenac, KS; brothers Jack Verga of Arma, KS and Bill Verga Sr. of Pittsburg, KS; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral Services will be 2pm Saturday January 9, 2010 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS with Rev. Dennis Paschke officiating. Burial will follow at the Farlington cemetery in Farlington, KS. Family will receive friends from 1-2pm prior to the service. Shelby W. McLeod
Shelby W. McLeod, 31 of Frontenac died at 11 a.m. Sunday January 10, 2010 at his home in Frontenac. He was born January 4, 1979 in Dallas, TX the son of Jerry and Doris (Glasscock) McLeod. He has lived in the Frontenac area for the past seven years moving here from Texas. He attended schools in Tyler, TX, and was currently attending classes at Fort Scott Community College. Shelby married
Jamie Sloan (Still) on August 30, 2003 in Eureka Springs, AR; she survives at the home. He was an electrician; and was a former member of the Victory Life Church. Survivors include his wife Jamie of the home; 4 children-Cora Still, Alex McLeod, Hayden Still and Ashtyn McLeod all of the home; his mother Doris McLeod of Texas; a brother Richard McLeod of Ft. Smith, AR; 2 sisters Patsy McLeod of Alba, TX, Christina Johnson of Ft. Riley, KS; his maternal grandmother Lola Glasscock of Lindale, TX and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother Jerry McLeod and his maternal grandfather Walter Glasscock. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday January 15, at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac with Pastor Don Talent officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral beginning at noon. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to a Scholarship Fund set up for Shelby and Jamie’s four children. Ann Evelyn Guerrieri
Ann Evelyn Guerrieri, 86 of Frontenac, KS died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO. Ann was born April 6, 1923 in Ringo, KS to Pasquale and Anna Marie (Bevitori) Guerrieri. She attended area schools, graduating from Frontenac High School with the class of 1941. She worked at the Army Ammunition Plant in Parson, KS. She later worked at Anshire Coat Factory in Pittsburg, KS for many years, retiring as a shipping manager. After retiring she was a dietitian volunteer at the Arma Nursing Home. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arma, KS. Survivors include her nephews Ronnie Fisher and wife Susie of Grapevine, TX; Dannie Fisher and wife Sheila of Arvada, CO and Michael Farrell and wife Lois of Atchison, KS; niece Connie Stone and husband Earl of Killeen, TX; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brother Louie Guerrieri, nephew David Tassi and sisters Catherine Fisher and Rose Farrell. Per her wishes her body has been taken for cremation. No services are planned at this time. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Parker Lee Stotler
FRONTENAC — Parker Lee Stotler, 74 of Frontenac, KS died, January 15, 2010 from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). He passed at his home with his family surrounding him. He was born March 11, 1935 in Dodge City, Kansas the son of Charles and Elsie (Naylor) Stotler. He graduated from Dodge City High School and then went on to attended Kansas State University and then KSTC (PSU) where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business. He was a member of the men's basketball team at both colleges. On July 28, 1991 he was united in marriage to Frankie (Perona) Park in Frontenac, she survives of the home. Parker worked as a superintendent for P&M Coal Company for many years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing with all his close friends. He also owned and piloted his own planes. He served on the Board of Directors at Crestwood Country Club. Also, a member of the Four Oaks Golf course. Additional survivors include two sons: Mike Stotler of Henderson, NV, Brian Stotler of Pittsburg, KS; three daughters: Shelley Stotler of Threau, NM, Lori Stotler and Lisa, Stotler both Pittsburg; Step Children: Rose Weber of Franklin, KS, Bill Smith and Terri Merando both Frontenac, KS; three Sisters: Pat Stotler of San Benito, TX, Carol Turner of Protection, KS and Elaine Scheer of Ingalls, KS; Also, survived by 20 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter. He will be sadly missed by all his family and especially by his beloved wife. Per his wishes his body has been taken for cremation. No services are planned at this time. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the ALS Association, these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home. Charles Benjamin Corvi
Charles Benjamin Corvi, 83 of Pittsburg died Saturday January 23, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Pittsburg. He was born October 3, 1926 in Burgess, MO the son of Felix and Adaline Mary (Odorizzi) Corvi. He attended Burgess Elementary School, Minden High School and was a graduate of Mulberry High School. He also attended college in Kansas City. Charles and his family lived in Michigan for 44 years; they moved to Las Vegas where they lived for 15 years; moving back to the SEK area in 2008. He was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Navy. Charles started working for Kansas City Southern Railroad and then New York Central Railroad in Michigan; he retired in 1988. He enjoyed polka dancing and traveling; and was of the Catholic Faith. Survivors include his wife Jennie. He was preceded in death by his daughter Jennie Marie Corvi in 1975; his parents; one sister and four brothers. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday January 26, 2010 at the Mount Carmel cemetery in Frontenac. Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. Tuesday to sign the register. The casket will remain closed at all times. Donald W. “Don” Schneider
Donald W. “Don” Schneider, 52 of Pittsburg, KS died at 10:12pm, Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Hospital District #1 of Girard, KS. Don was born July 4, 1957 in Pittsburg, KS to Ronald “Ron” and Mary Meeks Schneider. He attended area schools. Don worked as a meatpacker for Kretschmar Meats and also did carpentry work for many years. Don liked to do all types of woodworking. Survivors include his son Randy Schneider and wife Christian of Arma; mother Mary Schneider of Pittsburg; brothers Michael and Jim Schneider both of Pittsburg; sisters Teresa Mahan of Pittsburg, Leanna Anthony of Ft. Worth, TX and Mary Pintar and husband Greg of Lenexa, KS; four grandchildren Logan, William, Lane and Douglas along with numerous nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Monday, February 8, 2010 at Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. McKay St, Frontenac, KS with Rev. Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackjack cemetery in rural Nashville, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
