MATILDA HOLMAN
WELDA - Matilda Holman, 88, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. She was born Feb. 25, 1913, in Bronson to Anthony W. and Jesse Rose Thompson. She graduated from the Welda High School. She married
Lester W. Holman at Iola on Dec. 8, 1937. He died in 1982. She was a homemaker who lived most of her life in Welda. She was a member of the Welda United Methodist Church, the Welda Quilting Club, and the Anderson County Historical Society. She is survived by three sons, David Holman, Garnett, Paul Holman, Welda, and John Holman, Americus; four daughters, Nina Baker, Bonner Springs, Judy Thyer, Iola, Delores Bishop, Moran, and Linda Graham, Heaven, Okla.; two brothers, Charles Thompson, Humboldt, and Edward Thompson, Apple Valley, Calif.; three sisters, Esther Nichols, Osage City, Sylvia Wools, Colony, and Myrtal May Sharp, Annandale, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Her body will lie in state after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel, with family visitation 7-8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at the Welda Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Welda United Methodist Church.
ANNA MARIE HILL
KANSAS CITY, MO. - Anna Marie Hill, 83, formerly of Ottawa, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at St. Lukes Hospital, Kansas City. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. She was born April 5, 1917, in Urich, Mo., to James A. and Lydia (Ade) Sites, moving with her family to Richmond when she was 7. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1936, and attended Ottawa Business College for two years. She moved to Kansas City, Mo., in the early 1940s and worked for Maryland Casualty Insurance Company until retirement. She remained in Kansas City. She married
Leonard Ferguson in 1947 and later divorced. She married
Darwin Hill in 1972. He preceded her in death in the late 1970s. She is survived by one son, Kenneth Ferguson, Independence, Mo.; a brother, Glen Edgar Sites, Ottawa; a sister, Margaret Sites, Ottawa; two grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. She will lie in state after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, Ottawa. Friends and family will meet at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home at 1 p.m. before proceeding to Highland cemetery for services. BALDWIN - Anna K. Hey, 82, Baldwin, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at her home. Her body was cremated and memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, Baldwin. She was born in Patterson, N.J., to Christine (Holics) and Jacob Kuntz. She graduated from Central High School, Patterson, in 1936. She married
Lester Hey on May 15, 1942, in Patterson. He survives. They moved to Baldwin in 1947. She was a past member of the PEO, Baker/Baldwin NeeleCraft Club, and 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge. She founded Valley High Council of the Girl Scouts. She is survived by a son, Bob Hey, Baldwin; three daughters, Marilyn Duncan, Albuquerque, N.M., Sharon Minkes, Los Angeles, and Sally Meador, Checotah, Okla., and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother. Friends may call at Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home, Baldwin, after 4 p.m. and family will meet friends 6:30-8 p.m. Inurnment will be later. MARK HEUBERGER
WESTPHALIA - Mark Heuberger, 75, Westphalia, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Coffey County Hospital, Burlington. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Westphalia, with Rev. Michael Hawken officiating. He was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Westphalia to Lou M. and Barbara (Neeser) Heuberger and was a lifelong resident. He married
Jeanne Galloway at Wesphalia on Sept. 3, 1962. She survives. He retired from Westphalia Elementary School where he was custodian for 26 years. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Westphalia Lions Club. He is survived by a stepson, Ron Hobbs, Lubbock, Texas, and one step-grandson. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Wake service will be held 7 p.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Teresa Cemetery, Westphalia. Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, is in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
CLIFFORD B. "CLIFF" HEAD
OVERLAND PARK - Clifford B. "Cliff" Head, 74, formerly of Osawatomie, died Sunday, March 18, 2001. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Osawatomie. He was born in rural Osawatomie on Dec. 2, 1926 to Earl Joseph and Bessie Manilla Hicks Head. He attended Stockwell Rural School and Osawatomie High School. He was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad, many years at Fluor and Taylor Forge, Paola, and in the oil fields driving big trucks. Moving to Overland Park in 1962, he worked at Darby's as a welder and later a security guard for Wells Fargo. He served in the the United States Army during World War II as a medic driver. He married
Romana Eva Fabris at Gorizia, Italy, on Aug. 1, 1946. She survives of the home. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, American Legion Post No. 370, and the VFW Post No. 846, all of Overland Park, and Boilermakers Local No. 83, Kansas City. He is survived by: a son, Larry James Head, Boise, Idaho; two daughters, Patricia Ann Huston, Mission, and Rosemary Eva East, Overland Park; a brother Donald L. Head, Paola; a sister, Janice King, Osawatomie; 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister. He will lie in state after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Rosary prayers will be offered at 6:30 p.m., followed by visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie. Interment will be at the Osawatomie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association.
DONALD RAY GORDON
GARNETT - Donald Ray Gordon, 75, Garnett, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Garnett, with Rev. Sharon Brown Chapel officiating. He was born in Harris on May 29, 1925, to Ray C. and Evelyn (Mitchell) Gordon. He married
Phyllis Ford on Feb. 15, 1948, in Harris. She survives. He was a farmer in Anderson County. He was a member of the Methodist Church, and past board member and past president of the Anderson County Farm Bureau Association, county chairman of the ASCS board, the Harris school board, and the Rural Water District #4 board. He is survived by two sons, James Ray Gordon, Huntley, Mont., and Jerry Donald Gordon, Topeka; a daughter, Connie Jane Milburn, Topeka; a brother Dale Gordon, Princeton, and three grandchildren. His body will lie in state at the Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Garnett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Garnett, or Midland Hospice.
WILLIAM JUDSON 'JUD' GOINS
William Judson "Jud" Goins, 79, Ottawa, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary with Rev. Clyde Greisen officiating. He was born Nov. 30, 1921, at Richmond to Herman and Etta Ella (Gibbons) Goins. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1939. On Nov. 5, 1956, he married
Zetta Faye (Smith) Laughlin at Ottawa. She survives. He was a farmer/stockman and also worked in the dietary department at the Osawatomie State Hospital in the late 1950s and as a custodian for USD 290 at Garfield School for over eight years, retiring in 1985. He was a life-long resident of Franklin County, moving to Ottawa in 1973. He is also survived by five daughters, Bonnie Turner, Paola, Dixie Duff, Tijeras, N.M., Marilyn Lickteig, Ottawa, Carol Sue Williams, Ottawa, and Robyn Jacobs, Fort Worth, Texas; three sons, Billy Goins, Garnett, Tommy Lee Ruth, Melvern, and Glenn R. Ruth, Sea Tac, Wash.; a sister, Violet Askins, Garnett, thirty-six grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a brother. His body will lie in state after 1 p.m. Thursday at Dengel & Son, where the family will met with friends 7-8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Cancer Foundation or Midland Hospice.

TOPEKA - Lora Haughn, 87, Ottawa, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Rolling Hills Nursing Facility, Topeka. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dengel & Son Mortuary with Rev. Francis Stockton officiating. She was born May 9, 1913, in Quincy to Jesse and Lydia Mae (McConaughey) King. She graduated from Quincy High school in 1931. She married
Lafayette Haughn on August 21, 1937, in Ottawa. He diedJune 22, 1995. She was a homemaker. She lived in several Kansas communities including Clemens, Olivet, Strawn, Formoso, Colony, Reading, Quenemo, Wellsville and Leon; moving to Ottawa in 1985. She was a member of the Reading Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Union Chapter #15, and a former member of the Rebecca Lodge. She is survived by a son, Jack Lee Haughn, Phoenix; a daughter, Sandra Logan, Topeka; a brother Leo King, Yates Center; a sister, Arlene Reams, Topeka; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a brother, Clair King. Her body will lie in state at Dengel & Son after 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ottawa University Scholarship Fund.
WILLIAM J. 'BILL' FOXX
GARNETT - William J. "Bill" Foxx, 75, Garnett, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Comery-O'Neill Veterans Administration Hospital, Topeka. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Garnett, with Rev. Gary Benjamin officiating. He was born Aug. 7, 1925, at Peru to Harry N. and Myra Amanda (Smith) Foxx. He graduated from Garnett High School in 1943. He served in the 82nd Airborne Infantry Division in the U.S. Army. He married
Georgetta Browning on Sept. 16, 1944, at Mound City. She survives. He was a farmer and a self-employed floor finisher and carpenter. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service several years. He managed the Garnett American Legion baseball team for several years and served as a past commander of American Legion Post 48. His survivors also include two sons, Ronald E. Foxx, Breckenridge, Colo., and Bryan Foxx, Fort Scott; daughter Donna Kimmell, Leroy, foster daughter Betty Smith, Munford, Alab.; sister Velva Mackey, Bartlesville, Okla.; eight grandchildren and three step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday at Farris-Feuerborn. Burial will be at Garnett Cemetery. Memorials to the Garnett Senior Citizens Center.

NEWARK, Ohio - Anna Marie Frevert, 64, Pomona, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Selma Markowitz Care Center, Newark, Ohio. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence. She was born Aug. 12, 1936, at Rockbridge, Ohio, to Emmett and Mabel (Embrey) Reder. She was a former administrative assistant for a district judge in Lawrence. She married
Peter W. Frevert on March 28, 1959. He survives. Survivors include a son, Benjamin Frevert, Boise, Idaho; three daughters, Elizabeth (Bradley) Trimble, Shawnee Heights, Laura (Scott) Green, Florence, Colo., and Mary Ann (Matthew) McIntire, Tecumseh; a brother, Emmett, Reder, Arcanium, Ohio; two sisters, Betty White, Baltimore, and Martha Hockenberry, West Jefferson, Ohio, and two grandchildren.
