Delores ‘Dee’ E. Salmans 1933-2004
Delores “Dee” E. Salmans, 71, of Great Bend, died Oct. 9, 2004, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born Feb. 4, 1933 at Falls City, Neb., the daughter of Gerald W. and Zelma E. Martin Service. She was a housewife.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, Barton County Association of Retarded Children, Great Bend, and a strong advocate for people with handicaps.
On Sept. 14, 1951, she married
Francis Salmans at Great Bend. He survives.
Other survivors include: Five sons, Jayme W. Salmans, Jerry L. Salmans, Jason O. Salmans, Joel M. Salmans, and Jon D. Salmans, all of Garden City; and one daughter, Teresa L. Salmans-Smith, Corpus Christi, Texas.
There will be no service. Her body was cremated. Internment will be at the Fairmount cemetery in Jetmore at a later date. Family members said, “Dee would like to be remembered as she was the last time you saw her.”

V. Marie Clarke 1926-2004
ELLINWOOD — V. Marie Clarke, age 78, of Ellinwood, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. She was born Feb. 25, 1926, at Liberal, to Burnice and Elizabeth Marie Hamilton Corkins. She was a homemaker and a resident of Ellinwood since 1952. On Sept. 20, 1941, she married
David James Clarke at Rawlins, Wyo.; he preceded her in death on May 21, 2003. Marie was a member of AA since 1985.
Marie is survived by a son, Jerry Clarke and wife Anita of Hutchinson; two daughters, Marilyn Sherman of Lyons, Darlene Oglesbee and husband Bruce of Palatka, Fla.; three brothers, Gary Corkins of Buhler, Jerry “Bud” Corkins of Lapeer, Mich., and Larry Corkins of Inman; nephew and caregivers Jim Clarke and wife Carolyn of Ellinwood; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents, brother Bob Corkins, sisters Faye Clark and Mae Oxenrider.
Funeral will be on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, 10 a.m. at Minnis Chapel Inc., St. John with Ernie Bishop presiding. Burial will be in the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.

William B. Huschka 1919-2004
ELLINWOOD — William B. Huschka, 85, died Oct. 11 at Ellinwood District Hospital. He was born May 12, 1919, in Claflin, the son of John J. and Ida Frenzel Huschka. He married
Cecilia Debes on Oct. 14, 1947, in Odin. A lifetime resident of Ellinwood, he was a farmer, USD 355 custodian and road maintainer operator for Lakin Township.
Huschka was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Ellinwood, Knights of Columbus No. 1187 and American Legion of Ellinwood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the 3rd Armored Division in the European Theatre.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Paul Huschka of Ellinwood; two daughters, Dolores Boyle of Tulsa, Okla., and Janet Hanson of Salina; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray Huschka, Fred Huschka, Norman Huschka and Bernard Huschka; and one sister, Alberta Johanning.
Altar Society Rosary will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, with vigil service at 7 p.m.Wednesday, followed by Knights of Columbus Rosary, all at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood, with the Rev. John Maes officiating. Burial will be at Lakin-Comanche District cemetery in Ellinwood. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph’s School Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Fred H. Marsh 1920-2004
WICHITA — Fred H. Marsh, 84, died Oct. 9, 2004. He was born April 13, 1920, the son of Fred Hammond Sr. and Clara Ann McCarter Marsh. A resident of Wichita, he was a retired custodian of Linnwood Nazarene Church for 24 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Carolee Marsh; two sons, Steven and wife Brenda Marsh of Derby, and Gerald and wife Vicki Marsh of Wichita; one daughter, Janice and husband Steve Burden of Haysville; one brother, Don and wife Gloria Marsh of Pratt; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel in Wichita. Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, in care of the mortuary.

Etta Imogene Smith 1927-2004
HOISINGTON — Etta Imogene Smith, 77, died Oct. 9 at her home. She was born March 31, 1927, at Peru, the daughter of James D. and Clo Julia Ann Farner Lumley. She married
Donald D. Smith June 5, 1953, at Bartlesville, Okla. A resident of Hoisington since 1955, coming from Caney, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hoisington.
Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, MD Smith of Osawatomie; one daughter, Janice Oelschlaeger of Lawrence; two brothers, Ivan Lumley of Niotaze and James Lumley of Dearing; two sisters, Letha Jesseph of Wellington and Cleotha Fulk of Alaska; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Roy Lumley, Gene Lumley, Marvin Lumley and Wayne Lumley; and one grandson, Alan Arbogast.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington, with the Rev. Wayne Flanders officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington Cemetery. Josephine ‘Jo’ Wonsetler 1923-2004
LARNED — Josephine “Jo” Wonsetler, 81, died Oct. 8 at St. Joseph Memorial Long Term Care in Larned. She was born March 2, 1923, at Ballyvaughan, County Clare, Ireland, the daughter of Martin and Elizabeth Farrell Mooney. She married
Charles M. Wonsetler on May 26, 1954, in Larned. A resident of Larned since 1950, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society, past member of Legion of Mary, St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Larned.
Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Marty Wonsetler of Great Bend; two daughters, Yvonne Moore of Amarillo, Texas, and Noreen Applegate of Lawrence; one sister, Anne Mueller; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Padraig Mooney and Martin Mooney; three sisters, Mary Leahy, Elizabeth White and Bridget Mooney.
Vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at Morell Funeral Home in Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned, with the Revs. Dennis Reed and Eugene P. Kenny officiating. Burial will be at Larned Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Selma A. Unruh 1917-2004
Selma A. Unruh, 87, of Great Bend, died Oct. 10 at Central Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend. She was born Jan. 15, 1917, in Great Bend, the daughter of William and Bertha Fleske Werhahn. She married
Wayne Unruh Oct. 29, 1945, in Ellinwood. He died June 19, 2004. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was a homemaker and had worked for the Great Bend Telephone Company and Lischesky’s Dry Goods Company.
Survivors include one brother, William F. “Bill” Werhahn of Great Bend; and one sister, Louise Haxton of Little River. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha Donovan, Hilda Peckham, Martha Drehle and Erna Dyer.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Great Bend Cemetery, with the Rev. Garry Dassow officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon today at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to Our Savior Lutheran Church, in care of the funeral home.

Anne C. Joyce 1917-2004
Anne C. Joyce, 87, of Great Bend, died Oct. 10, 2004, at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. She was born July 11, 1917, in Ashdown, Ark., the daughter of Aaron and Bessie Monson. She married
Ray Joyce on Aug. 5, 1933, at Ashdown, Ark. He died April 8, 1998. A resident of Great Bend since 1951, coming from Texarkana, Texas, she was a clerk for Duckwalls, a food service worker for Central Kansas Medical Center and a housewife.
She was a member of First Methodist Church of Ashdown, Ark., and she attended Eastside Southern Baptist Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include one daughter, Wilma Witterstaetter and husband Harry of Hoisington; one granddaughter, Teresa Hutter; two great-grandchildren, Troy Hutter and wife Beth, and Trina Hutter Lehr and husband Jack; three great-great-grandchildren, Zachary Hutter Lehr, Chance Hutter Lehr and Lance Hutter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace Monson and Allan Monson; and three sisters, Bessie Baker, Hazel Bass and Mary Callahan.

Bertha Grandclair 1907-2004
HOISINGTON — Bertha Grandclair, 96, died Oct. 6 at her home. She was born Oct. 27, 1907, at Lockwood, Mo., the daughter of John and Henretta (Wilhelm) Bollinger. She married
Ira M. (Joe) Grandclair on March 7, 1927, at Newkirk, Okla. He died on Nov. 2, 1989. A long time Hoisington resident, coming from Lyons, she was a homemaker.
Grandclair was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Hoisington.
Survivors include her grandson, Mitchell Lee Grandclair and his wife, Mary Lyne, of Hoisington; two half-brothers, Frank Stolting of Golden City, Mo., and Paul Stolting of St. Peters, Mo.; a sister, Margaret M. Houston of Kingman, Ariz.; three great-grandsons, Matthew Grandclair, Tyler Grandclair and Wyatt Grandclair, all of Hoisington; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leon J. Grandclair, and two sisters, Joanna Bishop and Jospehine.
